Yeah, according to Brian Chard's Twitter he is an original character and he has one set of dialogue, regardless of variation. No idea what the genesis is but he isn't just Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax.

So he's someone who "stole" Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax characteristics? I thought he was Cyber Smoke being able to impersonate both Cyrax and Sektor.




Brian Chard said it'll be explained how Smoke is not a renevant anymore and turned into a cyborg. He also said that, Triborg (man there isn't a better name???) being DLC, storywise it's a non-canon thing, IIRC.

Maybe Sektor was working on a new and improved model for the cyber units with the unique ability to DL/Absorb tech of other LK units prior to getting destroyed and everything, Triborg could be the prototype of this new and improved model he was working on, it just somehow managed to avoid total destruction. There ya go, story that makes sense how a new cyborg is around and able to do Sektor and Cryax stuff, and he could have created his Smoke version himself.

I don't lose my shit often.. But if they make Smoke cyborg again after setting up such an awesome enenra story line... Consider...shit...lost..

His name should be Abomination because that's what he is.

Maybe the Smoke variant is what the Lin Kuei had planned for Smoke, before he died, like how Kuai Lang had Bi-Han`s cyber armor. It`s just incorporated into Cyrax. From the trailer, looks like Cyrax salvaged Sektor`s components, a la C13 from DBZ er K, I mean S...

Tri-borg is the cyber subby of MK X.

Just take one or three (in this case) loved characters, put them without a reason in the plot, change slightly their appearance, pretend they are a new concept, and go on with it.

It doesn't matter how stupid the idea and how far from the storyline it could be.
After all we have John Vogel, a uncanny master in writing silly, senseless things. And put them in the actual story just due to stupid fan request or gratuitous shock value.

The thing is this character could easily could become a legit in story character, it really wouldn't be hard. They just need to change its name lol

They really should've just made it Sektor.

If I had to take a guess I'm assuming Tri-Borg will be a failsafe program that Sektor made in case he ever died. I'm guessing part of his initial programming is to track down and assimilate the abilities of 3 top Lin Kuei members and use those abilities to destroy Sub-Zero. Curious to see how he got Smoke's powers.

Either way, I can't fucking wait to play as Sektor in this game.

Triborg is the only semi decent thing to come out of this KP so far and he has me very intrigued but I am also concerned about his relevance to the story. I have read the posts above and it sounds like he will be injected into the story somehow I just hope it is done well cause there are many unawnswered questions like if he was a Sektor fail safe why did he wait so long to activate it? The story mode spans 25 years even if he doesn't come back at the end of the story the sub/scorpion scene in which we see sektors parts is set around the 15 year mark so still a long time to just lay in wait.

Then there's the smoke side of things, not only does he have to come from being a revenant but he has to be turned into a cyborg too? How is this done? We know that at the end of the story smoke is still a revenant so it must happen sometime after the story mode? And then the big question; why after bringing smoke back to human in MK9, giving him a cool back story, a bright future and elevating him to one of the most popular characters in the whole franchise would they just turn him back into a shitty robot but not even his own robot a combination of all three robots????? Seems like such a waste but I guess we will find out soon.

There is always still a chance that triborg could just be a robot chameleon and we get no real explanation for what he is and he has no real story relevance and he was just thrown together to make some more bucks for NRS!

As the only character in the KP that piqued my interest due to the fact that he's a unique MK character in the same vein as Skarlet, I'd theorize the following:

Theory 1: Bi Han - This may be the physical remnants of Sub-Zero's cyborg body, potentially housing Bi Han's soul and consciousness.

Theory 2: Cyber-Chameleon - The most likely story - this is a pointless character with no relevance to anything, and is simply here to appease those of us who wanted the cyborgs.

Theory 3: Sektor's "backup" - Second most likely story - Sektor created an "omniborg" backup for his consciousness in the event that his primary body is destroyed. The construct would possess abilities from himself, Cyrax and possible Smoke. This may be the "ultimate prototype". The trailer lends a bit of credence to this (the Sektor head seems to activate in response to tri-borg's presence).

Didn't a fan come up with this concept? Couldn't said fan sue NRS for stealing said idea, when NRS repeatedly say they can't take ideas from fans?

If Tri-Borg is the official name it is pretty stupid. Come up with a better name at least. I also agree with this possibly being Bi Han/Noob Saibot.

He's an original character. Who'll have a Sektor variant, a Cyrax variant and his own [He just happens to look like Cyber-Smoke and as we all know Cyber-Smoke no longer exists]

How when more than one person thought it would be cool to see a character that had three cyborgs in one? Pretty sure I saw a handful of people wanting to see a combination of the cyborgs to be mashed together.
