Of course, a bad port hurts the brand no matter who makes the decision. But the conversation always seems to float back to the whole, "NRS is responsible for everything" propaganda, and its just not true.

I find it funny that so many people think NRS/WB is not to blame or to be held responsible in the least.

Who the hell isn't blaming WB? What internet are you reading? You do know that NRS and WB are NOT the same thing, right?
Yes, I know NRS and WB aren't the same thing, but there are plenty of people saying the fault lies with High Voltage (or whatever the third party is called) since they messed up the port, meaning WB and NRS are in the clear. Thats pretty stupid. If anything, point at WB for their fucked up decision making and abandoning PC players for a product they are ultimately responsible for.

Not one person has said WB are in the clear. But NRS had nothing to do with the port. This is a fact. By all means, fling shit over the decision to abandon the PC, but at least have the courtesy to fling it in the right direction.

The Mortal Kombat name is on this product, as undoubtedly is, some mention of NRS and Warner Bros. If you don't want your name and reputation associated with crap, don't put out a crap product and then leave your customers/fans twisting in the wind. Demand better from the company you willingly outsourced a job to.

Boon and the rest of NRS should demand every version of their game be of the highest quality. Their games for WB have been very successful. You can't tell me they don't have some say in how ports are done. If the buck doesn't stop with NRS, and it should, we're all screwed as customers.

They did demand more, which is why WB put the boot to High Voltage's ass and put someone else on the port to bring it up to snuff.

And the buck DOES NOT stop with NRS. It just doesn't. Boon and the team at NRS, do not own mortal kombat. Boon made it clear from jump street that he and the team at NRS were not responsible for any versions outside of the ps4/xbox1. Outsourcing fell on WB, the property's publisher and owner(I.e. those who make the final decision).

So outsourcing fell to WB, but NRS demanded High Voltage be removed from porting and they subsequently were. So who is in charge exactly? You seem to be contradicting yourself. If poor little NRS had no say over the quality of a PC port why wasn't High Voltage retained? Why would WB take any consideration into what NRS suggests? If NRS had no connection to a PC port, why even make any suggestion to WB on who should or shouldn't port in the first place?

Sounds like a cop out to me.

NRS are behind MK. Warner Bros are really just the money men. Why do so many of you complain to Ed Boon and everyone else at NRS if they're powerless when it comes to the game they wrote, designed, tested, etc. Shouldn't all your bitching about characters, guests, stages, costumes, the story line, etc. be directed to Warner Bros.?

Guys, this really isnt a debate. It's not a question. WB owns the MK IP just like they own DC. They will own MK for decades to come, just like they will own DC. When Ed Boon retires WB will hand MK over to other developers to reboot it once every 10 years, just like they do with DC media.

PC players are getting screwed by WB. If you keep questioning this fact, you're only wasting time and energy that could be spent drawing attention to WB's bad practices. But if you'd rather repeatedly post on a forum that those responsible will never look at about how Ed Boon is the illuminati of MK, go for it, playa.

I don't like Street Fighter, never have. Tekken is pretty cool though.

As a consumer you have EVERY RIGHT to be angry. It's extremely frustrating that there exists multiple platform editions of a game, but only one platform medium is going to continue to get support.

Unfortunately in business like this, "acceptable loss" is exactly that - they KNOW that the fanbase is going to be extremely angry, but they also took into account that it is a relatively small portion of the consumer versus the much larger demographic of PS4/XB1 owners. The same decision was made for PS3/XB360 - they opted to take an acceptable loss in the consumer market, knowing that the 360/PS3 demographic was much smaller than the PS4/One demographic. The average gamer upgrades their consoles to a new generation within 1 year of release.

The average gamer has a lot more cash to throw around than i do. I got my 360 third- or fourth-hand about 3 years ago for £25.
frabn Wrote:It's just business, it's not personal or a betrayel. They had to make the decision that was right for the company. Doesn't mean that the consumer has to like it.

Ultimately, decisions that exclude the minorities will be bad for business, since all those minorities make up the community - in this case, the MK fanbase. So for those of us left behind with an afterthought and a weak apology, we're now turning against the company for their bad business practises, because it's hard NOT to take being left by the wayside personally. Why support a company that breaks promises and ritually discontinues support for good customers?

Alienating a segment of a focus group because of poor management isn't without its price. Thinking that the consumer doesn't have to like it is not a very smart move for a company, bad rep builds up in the long run and NRS will inevitably be affected by this in one way or another, no matter if the blame isn't justifiable.
