No, you're not just asking if this game will be our favorites, you're also having users list their other favorite games if MK2011 isn't so far the best game. Which is the wrong forum.

MKDA is the best, Its just a hair above MK2. Everyone says UMK# is the best but I only played the original MK3 and MK Trilogy (which is my third favortie)

MKvs DCU gets hated on because it toned down the violence but I really enjoyed it as a fighting game.

Also I wouldnt put MK2011 on here before I'd gotten the chance to play it but it sure looks like a solid contender for best MK ever.

I believe the new MK will be the best, but certainly my favourite so far has been MKD. I still think its a great game, story wise and gameplay wise.

Personally, I don't think the new game stands a chance at being the best.

MKII is widey cited as the peak of the series, by fans and commentators alike, and this is just too transparent an attempt to tap back into that. Nods to the past have been part of the agenda since MK4, with perhaps the exception of MKDA which made a conceited effort to strike out on it's own. To that end, I think MK2011 is just too derivative to actually be the best.

MKII was a fantastic sequel that improved on the original in almost every way and really set the tone for the MK aesthetic that would become it's trademark. Ten years later, Deadly Alliance took the framework of an always slightly out of step, failing franchise, and gave it a long overdue legitimacy in design and mechanic. MK2011 doesn't seem to have any chance to play that kind of a significant role in the shape of the brand.

I'm expecting a game that deals either in redundancy, or irrelevance, but hope I'm very wrong. More than likely, high res graphics and ignorance makes it the new favourite for more recent fans, and Gen Y gamers. Good for business, but hardly a measure of greatness.

Finally, the voice of reason. They really have been continually trying to get back to that MKII period, in novelty and aesthetics, and I personally think the closest they got in either was in MKSM, the only MK worth actually buying since 4.

Hmm. Say more this point. At least at face value, MKDA looked like a Greatest Hits CD of Mortal Kombat. I mean, Shang Tsung was one of the final bosses. I personally felt MKD was a stronger progression. Onaga and the introduction of new realms were a nice expansion (even if the execution was a bit flawed). Heck, Scorpion finally left the vengeance route in Deception.

obviously this is the best MK game so far. We don't know much about the story but so far its better than all the others.
Its going back to 2D its going back to MK123 what else can you ask for?? Sure MK2 was a great game.. for its time. It had a well put together story but I'm confident this game will kick MK2s ass

Looks like we have more in common than once thought.

I hope it will be great, but I doubt it can measure to any of the first 4 MK`s.

This definitely has potential to be the best Mortal kombat yet. But for now, it's still MK2 for me.
