But yeah, I agree with you. Ermac needs to be explored a lot more. I also liked him a lot better evil. I think it suits his looks, story, and personality better.

Really? Well, this is a little different, it's more of, characters who dissapointed you the most. Let me change it real quick.

Reptile.
Mortal Kombat 2 defined who Reptile as a person was to me. It presented several key facts that made him my single favorite character.

* During the 1st tournament he discovers his masters' plot to enslave the remainder of his "peaceful" race.

* He knows that he's not the last. His species is near extinct, but there *are* others. And he knows it. He knows it, he knows it, he knows it.

* Devises a plan of his own. Despite his unwavering loyalty, this was the last straw and he struck back against Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn.

* Afterwards he doesn't seek power or glory. He chooses to live quietly with his own kind.

It doesn't even matter that his ending didn't really happen. The fundamental character traits are still intact even though he didn't win the tournament.

Then what happens?
MK3: Reptile is back to work for Shao Kahn, which annoys me right off the bat. His MK2 ending stated that he discovered this evil plan of Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn's during the 1st tournament. So even though he didn't win MK2, he should still have knowledge of their evil plan to wipe out his species. Apparently he forgot.
And apparently he forgot that he's not the last of his kind, because he's been promised that Kahn will ressurect his species if he completes his mission. Of course, he gets played for a fool in his ending, and he remains the only zaterran left...

MKTrilogy: until he runs into Khameleon. Now that we have her bio for MK Armageddon we know that she was able to contact Reptile during the Earth-realm invasion and tried to help him, but all he did was try to kill her.

Who is this guy? Doesn't seem like the Reptile I knew from MK2.

MK4: Now he's been captured and sentenced to banishment for commiting genocide. He winds up working for Shinnok on the promise that his services in battle will be rewarded with a trip through time so he can live with his people in the past. His (non-canon) ending has him getting double-crossed again and killed. *sigh*

MKDA: Where to start... first he gets duped by Nitara. Shao Kahn (or so we thought) is assassinated as a result. He starts flipping out and losing it mentally, hallucinating everywhere he goes. Nitara again enlists his aid again only to trick him and cast him aside when she has no more use for him.

MKD: Now he's just a host body for the Dragon King. Yep. Getting used again.

MKA: And after everything that's transpired he's seen working alongside the likes of Quan Chi and the Red Dragon???? And later runs off with a zaterran chick that he found in a sarcophogus to get laid??? What???

I know his endings aren't in continuity, but it still gives us a picture of what he's like or what he'd be like if he did win. And it's not a pretty picture. He's shown to be naive, gullible, basically a tool. He seems to have no will of his own in the later games. Much like Scorpion losing every shred of his personality to become the revenge machine, Reptile sacrificed all the character traits that made me like him and became the resident tool. I can't think of anyone more disappointing than that.

Just watched Reptiles' MK4 ending again and what do you know- he's fully aware that Shao Kahn wiped out his species there too. So in MK2 he knows of the evil plan. By MKTrilogy apparently his species is wiped out. MK4 shows us that he knows it was all Kahn's doing.

Yet there he is still serving Shao Kahn in MKDA. What. The. F****. Even if Reptile had de-evolved into a slow witted idiot pet, hatred is a strong emotion and you would think he'd remember who he hated and why he hated him so much. But no. He's really broke up over the fact that his master is dead and blames himself.

God, Reptile turned into such a tool.

Yeah, I forgot how good Reptile used to be.

Another I'd like to throw in is Rain. He had some potential, but was never really explored. Being from Edenia and what not, he could've been a huge character.

Mokap

Scorpion-
Once a decent character who could've been great....but they decided he was better off as a marketing whore. Now he's a just a sad joke.

Shang Tsung-
I would like to believe the hype Shang Tsung gets.....but I don't. His backstory is too vague and he's never done anything that makes me buy him as the great supreme villain everyone claims he is.

Baraka-
A cool character concept who could've maybe been something more...but they kept him as the obligatory henchman.

Khameleon-
I feel sorry for Khameleon. She had a decent story and maybe could've been something with a good revamp....but she got screwed over bad in Armageddon.

Mavado-
I thought he was cool and they gave a nice build-up in Deadly Alliance...only to piss all over it because some fans are terrified of anything that's new.

Kung Lao-
Only because of how they screwed him over in Deception and Shaolin Monks. Practical character assassination.

Shujinko-
Shujinko was a decent idea in theory that was ruined by awful execution.

Reiko-
Admiteddly not much of a character....but maybe could've been somewhat salvaged had they followed through on his supposed connection to Sareena. Might not have been much...but would've been better than turning him into a mini-Shao Kahn.


That's all I can think of right now.

cyrax worst disaponitment ever

Sindel and Jade cuz they're always screwed over, overshadowed by Kitana. I would also say Mileena but she's become her own character recently so never mind.

For Sindel, I simply would have liked a less predictable story for her in MKD. I hate predicatable stories. She should have had more importance too. In her ending, we can see that she's a very brainy character. I would have liked that to have played a role in the main storyline, like she should have had useful information against Onaga or something. She should have also taken extreme measures to protect Edenia; A creative and interesting approach. I'm sick of that place getting invaded over and over. That's so boring now.

For Jade, I think they should have elaborated on her being the leader of Edenia's Freedom Fighters as mentioned in Konquest. That would have been more interesting than just following Sindel around. Her rivarly with Tanya should have also been elaborated on more: The patriot vs. the traiter. It could have been perfect. And her Freedom Fighters could have played a role in helping her with that too.

But oh well, they had to be Kitana tails instead.

^^ How was Cyrax a dissapointment? I liked what they did with his story, he's FAR from the worst dissapointment.

Definitely, especially since he was introduced (storyline-wise) pretty late into the series. For that reason alone, he should return in MK8, because I think there's still much left to be explored.



I do have to disagree there; I think he's perfect as is, as it's a nice change of pace and far better than his having simply served as one of Kahn's toadies. His Deception ending was the kick in the rear the character so badly needed.

Johnny Cage, Movado, Hsu Hao, Mokap, and Chameloen.

my top 5 are

1 Bo Rai Cho - he could have been a fairly decent character, but they made the first flaw when they made him a fat character. No offence but it doesn't suit Mortal Kombat. The next flaw they made was the fact he was given such a huge role yet he remained in the background (im guessing because they realised how shit they made him)

2 Kenshi - never liked this character, i felt he was bigged up too much and all he was to me was an Animé wanna-b character that animé fags will love to play. He could have been a good character but they overdid him

3 Nightwolf - I have to admit he is an awsome Character but i can't feel serious playing him. I feel like i'm playing YMCA video game because of his look. His story is and moves are brilliant though. Just alter his colours.

4 Reptile - recently this character has turned sour. He was cool until MK4 then they gave him that gay look that was like "well wtf are you dressed as?". Revert him back to his human form before he stays as a spacked lizard man for ever.

5 Scorpion - was good at the start. Then his story went down the pan, they really need to reinvent scorpion like they did with sub zero before its too late to repair the damage.

Scorpion's is always terrible

Mileena's MKD story had the same "I wanna be Kitana" theme, but it was presented in a great way.

hmmmmm..... I would have to say Mavado, the first post covers it.

i think sub_ZERO is right with the fact that ermac is better off evil
he's always been one of my faves and should have a better storyline

now remember i still think sub zero is a badass but if we go into games, he disappointed me, the way they give his image and story is cool but his moves arent that great, the comboes or anything. his specials though are still good. shujinko is not a very important character and he is a big disappointment or even just a horrible character with no use with moves that arent even that cool. ermac is still a badass no matter what, but think about it every characters story has stayed the same. like really if anyones has changed its very little or if it changes more than a little its stupid.

Everyone that came after Li Mei... although she was based on Kim Wu.

3-Darrius- I thought this guy had real potential. And he has so much chemistry with Dairou. And you would have thought they'd have come up with something better for the two to be involved in. I mean I'm all for this rebellion against the Seidan guardsman but I can't help but think that they could've took Darrius that one next step.


And also they could have paid more attention to the Hotaru and Darrius hatred thing. I mean if these two men truly fought it could mean the end of Seido opening up a vast new plain of possibilities.




2-Scorpion- Well the main thing with this guy is his storyline is too repetitive. It's just someone ticks Scorpion off he fights them and he fails miserably. I'm sorry if you don't see it this way but for MKs supposed mascot he isn't all he's cranked up to be. I think this could be helped by putting Scorpion against new people. And a match that would spark interest in fans.

1-Ermac- Now this guy has the potential to be the face of mortal kombat. He could be the one that saves the realms. His history with Shao Kahn alone could make him the top good guy. He could be the one that wins the mk tournament. And he could be the one to end Shao Kahns reign of tyranny.

He could also be a top bad guy. Here is an idea. Ermac is made up of losts of dead warriors souls. So who's to say that those warriors weren't corrupt. With the power of all these corrupt warriors he could be the most powerful bad guy in mk existence and put earthrealm and all other realms in true jeaprody

Well, alot of the people you guys already stated and Mileena.
I mean, ever since MK 2 they never came up with new moves. they're still the same old moves. Her story hardly goes anywhere anyway. Just all this stuff about getting revenge at Kitana and posing as her. Thats good and all but they gotta get some new stuff.
