I was like 2 when it hit arcades. Was that 92?
Eventually, my mom bought a copy for the snes (I had no idea what it was) and I've been a fan ever since.
MKII on snes in 94 really sunk the hooks in from then on. My cousins would beat me senseless, in and out of game. I always asked for the fatality inputs and they'd say "figure it out".

I was 1 when MK1 game out so um no... I think UMK3 was my first Mortal Kombat in the arcades. God I used to love so many fighting games, I can't even remember half of them though.

MK2 on Genesis was my first encounter. I was too young for MK1. Didn't play at first, just watched. The colors were captivating. My cousin would always be playing when I was there. Always picking Reptile, and always doing the head eat fatality.
Eventually I played it (uppercut x500), and blah blah blah.
I guess I was about 2/3.
It's in the roots, man.

I was 11 when I first played it at the arcade in 93 and 12 when I got my first copy of MK1 for my birthday in 94. The movie came out in 95 i was 13 and mad cause there was no theatre in our town to watch it, plus my parents were too strict to let me see something like that. I later got a copy of MK4 in 01 then in 02 Deadly Alliance came out I got it on 11/22 Fatality Friday! Oh such memories, MK has been a part of my childhood and adulthood wow for 22 years!

Well, in 1999, I was 3 years old. The first game I ever played was UMK3 on snes. So I didn't quite grow up with the old MKs, but I did grow up playing them. I feel like I wittle baby around all you big kids.

I still remember being around 6 or 8 and going to this huge arcade called 'Q-Zar' and watching people competitively play MK3. There was even this goth guy, who looked like a fucking vampire that we were cool with that would wreck everyone. I've been a fan ever since MK1 on SNES. Deadly Alliance was the one that really brought me back, I found the Game Informer that debuted the game and i've even been a member on this site ever since. I'm 25 now lol, it's been so long.

You wouldn't happen to be from Northern California would you? There was a laser tag place called Q-Zar that I lived about 15 minutes from and it had an arcade.
Ryan Seabass Im sorry for your loss that's terribly sad those memories. I hope MK brings several happy memories for you in remembrance of your brother. I can't believe I've been a fan of MK for 22 yrs. I'm 32 now I might be a fan when Im a old man.

MKII for Genesis. My older brother had borrowed a friend's Sega, which included a copy of MKII. I played it and loved it. I got my own Genesis later that year for Christmas(this was 1994).

I remember my brother and I would laugh our butts off at the funny noise Raiden's Teleport move made in that version of the game.
