Romance makes everything interesting. I'm for it in the MK mythos. Here's what I see, speculate, and predict:

There seems to be developing a triangle between Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Jax. In MK9, Cage is clearly pursuing her, and there are tiny hints that Sonya may one day reciprocate. But when Cage was prodding Jax about his relationship with Sonya, Jax seemed a little too annoyed, you know? I think maybe he may have feelings for her too, but that's just speculation. Cage and Sonya for sure, though.

Kitana and Liu Kang. That goes without saying.

Mileena and Baraka. There were hints of it in the text of the old MK canon (remember, Baraka didn't have to rescue Mileena from Edenia in Deception, but he did), and I read somewhere that the creators intended to have scenes with them, but they just didn't have time. Baraka IS the one who suggests Mileena take over when Kahn is thought to be dead in MK9, of course. I don't think they'll forget it.

Sindel and Jerrod. Jerrod's dead, of course, but I'm just saying that I don't think Sindel will ever move on from him. And in MK9, there's hints that Jerrod may be motivating Ermac. I think maybe we'll see some bittersweet Sindel/Ermac interaction. - it's not Ermac that she'll pine after. It's what's inside of him but can never come out.

Kira and Kobra. In both of their endings of Armageddon, they get together with the other one dying. I think the MK creators were trying to hint at something. Now, I don't think there's romance, but I do think there's sexual tension between them. Maybe one day we'll see it?

Sareena and Sub-Zero. SUB-ZERO. It doesn't matter if it's Bi Han or Kuai Liang. She's not in love with the man behind the mask, she's in love with the mask itself. In MKM: SZ, that playful music playing reaching a kind of apex when they look in eachother's eyes. I think they were hinting something. Also, it's possible to read into Sareena's MKA bio to think that she might hold some affection for him. We'll see, but I think it's there.

Reptile and Khameleon. Not romance, but they need eachother if they're going to procreate.

That's all I can see that's canon in the games.

ok if there was no love intrest between liu and kitanna then why in mk 4 did she offere him to be her king of edenia that sounds like marriage to me. and speaking of marriage in arrmagedon barraka and millena got married in his ending

No. Mileena's (MK9) ending had her killing Shao Kahn, and Shang.
Then, she decides to try and kill Raiden.
Baraka's ending had him killing a disguised Shang Tsung, and, thus, earning Shao Kahn's favor.

Only in Mileena's MK2 ending and Baraka's MK:A ending do the two rule as king and queen.

Clearly, the two are a couple, though (they were shown (in the previous games)) with a drastic love-hate relationship.
Edit: Okay. She's got 6 different endings spanning 19-ish years, so I assumed you meant her most recent one.

Why no gay couples? I'm asking, because I think that the OP's request for strictly heterosexual pairings, short of an intelligent justification (as in no homophobic nonsense), isn't at all valid, unless some believe that there can be absolutely no logical gay/lesbian couples (which would be a better excuse). Speaking of which...

Stryker and Kung Lao, which just came to mind. Nightwolf could replace either one of them.

Baraka/Reptile. You may ask why. I'd ask why not? Either one of them could be bisexual. Not sure I'd consider Reptile confirmed as straight though, as him and Khameleon in her MKT ending only got together to bring back their race. Despite what some may think, if the only few humans remaining were all gay men and lesbians, that doesn't mean they'd be too selfish to try and save the human race through sexual reproduction. So basically, Reptile and Khameleon can work as a couple, but it seems largely driven by self-preservation more than love, though Reptile would definitely be happy to see another Zaterrian.

Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, with a great deal of sexual tension. Okay, maybe not the likeliest couple, but nonetheless interesting in my opinion.

Sub-Zero and Smoke. Where there is fire, there is Smoke. And where there is Smoke, there is ice! You could even have Scorpion trying to kill Smoke as part of his little quest for revenge against Sub-Zero.

Li Mei/Sheeva. Maybe Jade could work as Li Mei's girlfriend, but she annoyed me a bit in MK9.

To conclude, Stryker and Johnny is a gay couple I'd love to see. Kurtis Cage and Johnny Stryker both sound good. But the chances of Johnny being bi are way too low, sadly.

To be honest i really don't understand why that question. I dunno why i usually don't think about introducing a gay couple but i'm not asking myself why anyway.

Tanya and Rain could be a rather interesting couple (for a love-hate relationship, rife with backstabbing.)
They both are (Edenian) traitors, of noble (or upper-class) background, egocentric, power-hungry, and are, on the whole, assholes.

Also, in accordance with Tanya's MK:D biography, she apparently likes (or is content) having some form of leadership to work under, which I'm sure Rain would like to hold. Then, she can backstab him later, or vice versa.
(Perhaps, he'd make use of her witchcraft/black magic.)

They're a proposed couple who would make some sense to me.
It's doubtful (and unnecessary) this will every happen, though.

And yes, Tanya and Rain make a great couple. It makes a lot of sense. Probably more so than Liu Kang and Kitana.

Liu and Kitana makes a lot of sense.

He can't age until he loses the MK championship (or gets killed) and he's afraid he'll watch all his friends and loved ones die, Highlander-style. She'll live for thousands and thousands of years.

As far as she knows, her evil stepfather can't be defeated or killed so there's no way to escape. He's the one man who can beat Kahn in a fight and free her homeland. Best cure for a pessimist is someone who can show them a bright future. Dude's like a ray of sunshine in her unbelievably shitty life.

At least, in the old timeline. Now, if they still get together after the whole "I wish we'd met under different circumstances...blarg, I am dead." thing, maybe they'll just be united by a mutual hatred of Raiden? I dunno...

Um... How does that line proves us that Kitana and Liu are supposed to be together? That doesn't make any sense by a long shot. Tanya played as the innocent one in MK4, we all thought, until her ending, she was another good guy from Edenia. Of course, this obviously fooled us as well since she's a traitor and finding out that she's been plotting a trap up for Liu ever since.

She said that because he was foolish enough to trust her, to believe her, and to work side-by-side with her. This shows nothing that proves there's a relationship between the two characters, other than stating the obvious that he could trust Kitana, thus probably also believing that anyone from Edenia is trustable.

Which we obviously know since this ending, that's not the case.
