My favorite character......man he is alot stronger than he started out. I'd say the only bad game they did with him is deception. both costumes sucked in that game. He didn't look like a ninja. His DA alternate costume was his best. he truly looked like a bad ass ninja. I hope that costume returns. Story wise they are headed in the right direction. they always give him a good story. His best fatalities that should return in MK 8 is either of his mk3 fatalities, his spine rip, and deep freeze from mk4. enemies .........who isn't his enemy. Even the gods aparently are now sending their champions after him if armageddon's ending is true. I hope in the next game he is younger though, that is one thing that irritated me is him being super old looking. He needs to be young like mk3 age or so. Favorite move would have to be the ice ball. i'm relentless with it playing armageddon. They need to keep shotokan in mk8. I would like him to have a 8 to 10 hit combo do at least 35% damage and freeze your opponet while doing the combo. I mean he is the grandmaster after all. thats all for now.

Really? This is surprising as I thought that you even disliked/hated Sub-Zero?

Man Sub-Zero is such a badass. Greatest MK character ever and one of the coolest (ahaha pun intended hahaha funny) video game characters, of all time.

Sub-Zero is my favorite male kombatant from Mortal Kombat. I hate most male characters cuz they're either boring or ugly, but some are cool. Sub is the best to me, then Reptile (only human form), then Johnny Cage cuz he's probably the only male sex symbol of MK.

I like Sub-Zero best in MK2 and MK5 cuz that's when he looked at his best, but I only like him masked. Unmasked, he always looks cheap and horrible.

It's unfortunate that he looked like shit in MKD, both costumes, cuz that's my second fav MK game of all time.

I love his MKDA alt costume, but I don't like his posture with the Shotokan fighting style. Dragon looked better.

Yeah, I agree with you about Shotokan. It's a very linear and aggressive Karate style that kind of uses brute strength. I honestly don't see someone like Sub-Zero, despite his body type, using something like that as his gameplay style has pretty much always leaned more towards defense. I felt Dragon was better too. For me, it wasn't really due to the Dragon Medallion, but it was due to Dragon being a more well-rounded style and the Dragon being a symbol of strength and power (not exactly referring to the physical kind).

They didn't even get Zenkutsu Dachi (Front/Forward/Bow Stance), one of Shotokan's stances, correct. It's supposed to look like how the Shorin Ryu/Shinto Ryu stance looks. Zenkutsu Dachi is the main stance in Shotokan, which makes sense in terms of putting it into the game. However, I still don't like it for him. I will say that him having it in MKA helped his gameplay a lot and is an important part of him being a top-tier character in that game.

I think that Sub-Zero is one of the more difficult characters in terms of the unmasked look and the voice. I personally didn't dislike his MKDA primary look as I felt he kind of had an older Bruce Wayne kinda look to him, which to me is fitting as I see Sub-Zero as somewhat of the Batman of the Earthrealm heroes. His voice is even more of a problem as it's rather silly. For his speaking voice, it just doesn't sound fitting, imo. He, Argus, and Raiden sound too similar, which I don't like.

LOL!!! I see Sub-Zero as the Cyclops of MK.

Sub-Zero is the second-best of MK, popularity and fame-wise, the way Cyclops is in the X-Men. Both Cyclops and Sub-Zero (masked) are good-looking, stylish, cool-powered heroes who are always forced behind ONE other male star: Cyclops forced behind Wolverine, and Sub-Zero forced behind Scorpion, both of which are the macho, ugly, aggressive, solo-hero, bad guys.

It's such a coincidence that they have so much in common, so I've always thought of Sub-Zero as the Cyclops of MK.

I can see how you think of him as the Batman of the Earth heroes, though. They both have that sense of mystery and enigma to them, like if they're always hiding something, and they're both assertive, honorable, and smart and all that.

I've never liked him unmasked, except probably in MK4 cuz he looked rather handsome. All other times, he looks too old (MK5) or too hideous (MK6). Didn't like his look in MK3 either.

I guess you kind of have a point with the Sub-Zero/Cyclops comparison, but other than that, I don't see much of a similarity.

Aside from that mysterious quality to them, I see Sub-Zero being like Batman in that they are very stern and kind of humorless people who simply go about their business.

I don't understand how you can like his MK4 unmasked look. With the graphics, there wasn't much to see, and he sort of had a blockhead. But, whatever floats your boat. *shrugs*

Well, if you'd play the game on Sega Dreamcast (MK Gold), the graphics are better defined and smoother-looking instead of blocky.

There, you can see that he looks kinda handsome. I like his brown hair too. Other than that, he always looks bad when unmasked.

btw, I bought the whole Dreamcast system just to have MK Gold cuz of how it had more characters. Particularly the females characters is what I bought it for. Don't worry, I got it for cheap on Ebay.

Never really gave my whole oppinion yet sooo....

MK1:

I never really played this game, but I'm guessing Subby dominated. Of course it was the Original Sub-Zero.

MK2:

This game I have, but don't usually play it. Sub-Zero becomes the Subby we all know now adays. He doesn't have the spine rip in this game, but he has the Snow Ball, which is pretty cool. And the Ice Attack was awesome. Freezing him, then throwing the Snowball was what I usually did.

MK3-T:

The greatest MK games. Here he gets a new look, and now he is no longer a ninja. He gets combos like everyone else, and gets a new move. The ice in the air attack. Also, the Ice Clone is here, which is one of my favorite Sub-Zero moves. In this game Sub-Zero was at his best.

MK4:

MK4 he lost his air ice. He wasn't as good as the one before. He finally gets his Spine Rip back, and the Deep Freeze Fatality, which is the MK2 Fatality.

MKDA-MKA:

He was better here then MK4, and was really great here. One of the top tier characters. His Cold Shoulder move is new, and awesome. The Ice Clone isn't as good as before. Much slower. It can still be used to block a physical hit by freezing. In MKD he gets the two best Fatalities ever. And, yeah. He's awesome.

Story:

Sub-Zero has the best storyrline in the game. Search all you want, but he's the best. Kahn, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Raiden, and Shang Tsung come close, but fail. Here's a quick summary.

Before the MK tournament, the Original Sub-Zero went to retrieve an amulet. He fights a bunch of people, kills Scorpion, beats his ass again, meets Sareena, battles Quan Chi, and finally fights Shinnok. There he gets the amulet, which is used for many things. Currently, Onaga has the amulet. But anyways, he is told by the Lin Kuei to kill Shang Tsung. Little does he know that Shang Tsung hired the Lin Keui to send him there. Sub-Zero gets fried, Shinnok turns him into Noob Saibot (which is revealed in MKD) and end of MK1 for Subby.

Younger Subby comes along, and battles in the MK2 tournament. Scorpion sees that he isn't the original Subby, and decides not to kill him. And thats it.

MK3 is where things get juicy. Sub-Zero and Smoke were long time pals until the Lin Keui started the robotic stuff. Cyrax, and Sektor were turned into robots voluntarily, while Smoke tried to escape with Subby. The Ice Warrior manages to get away, but Smoke is turned into a robot. Many people believed that Sub-Zero got his scar here, but he actually got it in MK2. Anyways, the three robots hunt him down. Sub-Zero traps Cyrax in the Jade Desert, he deprograms Smoke to not fight anymore. I'm not sure what happened to Sektor. Sub-Zero probably kicked his ass, so Sektor ran away to kill the Lin Keui. Not sure. Anyways, the MK3 saga ends there for Subs.

MK4 comes along, and Sub-Zero fights Scorpion. Scorpion wins, Quan Chi comes and says a bunch of shit, and Scorpion and Quan Chi are gone. Killed two birds with no stone. Thats it for him.

MKDA comes, and Sub-Zero finds out that Sektor has destroyed the Lin Keui. The two fight, and Sub-Zero wins. Sektor runs off again to start the Tekunin Clan. Subby gets the Dragon Medalion, and takes control of the new Lin Keui, which fights for good now, and they are no longer Hitmen. Sub-Zero makes Frost his apprentice, and goes into Outworld with her. Frost betrays him, and gets killed. Who didn't see that comming? Now Subby is trapped in Outworld.

MKD arrives, and Sub-Zero is still stranded. He fights, and kills the remaining group of Tarkatan wrriors, and continues on to find Kenshi. The two decide to travel together, and eventually Hotaru comes (or doesn't. Kenshi's ending could've been non-canon.) Hotaru dies, or not.

MKA is here, and Subby gets out of Outworld. Took long enough. And that's all thats known.

There you have it. A brief history of Subby. Also, he's the only one to appear in every core MK game. MK1 counts!

Sub-Zero is more than a mere ninja.
I really don't see why he couldn't be in MK8.
I consider this character as a legend. With the help of the 1st Sub-Zero, he has been in every MK game.

But I like him more masked, especially with his shredder look.
His unmasked costume from MK3 is not too bad but this should be taken as past moments of Sub-Zero. The ninja version is the best simply cause he's the new Lin Kuei boss.

okay... after retrying to read your entire question over without being confused on how you word it...

why is noob still being called sub-zero? duh, becuase he was sub-zero before his death. but many are calling him "the original sub-zero" therefore he's still sub and noob at the same time.

and what in the world is a dank? i mean a dankest? is that even a word? if so, i've never heard of it. but it better not be a made up word.

I like Sub Zero both gameplaywise and storywise. Storywise, because I admire most his determined and unwavering personality: first, forever abandoning his mother and sister as a child (when his father was planning to train him and Noob); then, shock by the gruesome death of his brother; then, persecution by Scorpion; then, betrayal by his clan; then, persecution by Sektor: then, betrayal by Frost; then, betrayal and persecution of both Smoke, his friend, and Noob, his brother...

And he still remained firm, not a bit frustrated, overcoming all the opponents...? Holy shit, not even Liu Kang went through that much threat, which makes me wonder if Sub Zero is actually more competent and durable than Liu Kang himself. He is a great fighter but it doesn't take only a skillfulnes at martial arts to stay alive after all those dangers, right? He was, above all, DETERMINED, and that is his main advantage... Sub Zero has an unbreakable personality, he isn't the asshole Raiden which becomes so damn frustrated by being defeated by Deadly Alliance that he starts decimating even the heroes who fought at his side, e.g. Shujinko.

And, yeah, as for the gameplay, Sub can beat the fuck out of anyone, I bet many players were cheap as hell with his freezing in MK3.

I liked Sub-Zero more in the older games overall with story and gameplay, but he's still pretty "cool"

Personally, I hope his MKA ending is canon because I do like the idea of him becoming an Ice God...

He's not my favorite ninja in MK but he's one of MK's flagship characters like Scorpion, Liu Kang, Raiden etc so I respect him.

He's alright, don't hate, him don't love him.

Considering that Sub-Zero is her enemy and that Sub-Zero acted as a father figure to her, it wouldn't make sense. And besides, that would be an awful direction to go.

Not really. If Sub-Zero's father can impregnate a normal human female, who gives birth to children who have the powers in them, then Sub-Zero doesn't need Frost to have more Cryomancers.
