I laugh every time when I see Kitana and Tanya doing their kissing fatalities.

If they have the ability to destroy their opponents with a kiss, then they have more powers in them. Kitana doesn't throw out fire bolts, just fans, but she's got to have more power in her because if she has the ability to kiss someone to make them explode, doesn't that give you a hint she's got powers?

Tanya does throw out projectiles, which isn't the reason why I am going too much in detail with her.

But, doesn't this kinda make you think a little?

Liu Kang has the ability to materialize an MK arcade machine above opponents' head and Jax can instantly grow a couple of times his size just to squash his adversaries underfoot.

Doesn't this kinda make you think a little bit more? wink

Actually, it does, maybe I should change the title to this.

Sorry for the double post,

Mortalman gave me something more to think about...

Yes, Liu Kang has somewhat the ability to transform himself into a dropping arcade machine,

Jax has the ability to somewhat grow extremely large as well as having his hands change to blades.

Reptile's magic way of floating in mid air to throw acid onto his opponent(MK4)

Quan Chi's ability to freeze a character in their tracks. (Barak's ending in MK Gold)

The thing is, somewhat characters have the ability to posses more power than what they were given in the game. Why does Jax grow large in his fatalitiy? Neither one of his fatalities in MK3 made sense.

Liu Kang's fatalitiy was just probably a funny way to promote their game or something, and obvious joke. But still, how come these characters have more power than they posses in the game? Is it because nobody should play a very powerful character? We already have, and his name is Superman...

This is kinda bothering me in a way to where it's funny.

Yeah, it seems more suitable now, but that wasn't my point. It's just a videogame (with A LOT incoherence in it). I suggest not to overanalise it.

Or it has no relation to power whatsoever.

It is not like everything should work on a power meter, or any kind of exponential source.

Raiden is a god, he should be able to kill everyone else instantly.

I agree with with you 100% icebaby. I've asked myself the same
question from time to time. The fact that Sindel has more magic
based moves like levitation, banshee shriek, hair manipulation,
& the star screamer lead me to believe that Edenians, or at least
the royal family have the power to tap into magical abilities. So I
definitely feel that Kitana has more potential than just fan tossing.

I think the MK team really needs to give an explanation as to how
the earth realm fighters are able to pull off all these otherworldly
abilities. Sonya can shoot plasma rings from her hands, Liu Kang
can transform into a Dragon and shoot fireballs, Johnny Cage can
toss green glowing orbs. I'd like to believe that the human characters
of MK are tapping into some sort of inner chi that gives them the
power to do these things. Cause I really don't see anyone from the
other realms being afraid of the earthrealm warriors if there wasn't
more to them than is being shown.

What you wrote made me think about certain characters that you mentioned.

With Sonya, I always beleived that she wore something on her wirsts that gave her the ability to somewhat shoot plasma out of her hands. Though I quickly scratched that thought because she doesn't wear any bracelets or wrist bands that could have her shoot things from. As well as her kiss of death. I don't get how she can kiss someone to make them throw up, that's why I laugh every time I realize that Cage has a crush on her, if she kisses him that's it.

With the others, there should have been some way where we were told how they got these powers and why they choose to use them the way they're using them now. Who knows, if you had powers, would you actually use them for good instead of evil, or will you turn evil instead of good?

I like more depth to be added to all these characters because there are just some answers that I never got in the previous games, such as the ones that I stated. I might never get the answer to them, but it would be nice if I did.

I've thought about this for a while, too.

  • Shang Tsung can create giant fire snakes
  • Quan Chi can create an army of green skulls for a layer of defense
  • Scorpion can launch fireballs from his hands
  • Sub-Zero can create an ice bubble large enough to freeze about 20-30 people...at once

Overall, through the FMV sequences, promo videos, movies, etc., we're given the impression that the characters can do a LOT more than the fighting games let on.

Maybe they need to really focus to use these stronger abilities and in the middle of a fight they don't have the time to do so, what with all the punches and kicks coming their way. As for the other abilities, they probably don't need as much focus
