is it too early to start setting up a tournament?
I thought it would be interesting to set up an online Tournament consisting of fellow MKO members, but here is the catch... The tournament is to take place only a few days after release so that no one has a real chance to breakdown mechanics of a character. Everyone is green still to the game.
If it's not too soon then post your pc, PS4, Xbox One online handle, preferred character (you can change as roster updates).
If it is too soon then feel free to bash this thread and or close it. I'm just tired of Roster speculation, let's have fun again.

Basically this. It's in the works. We'll let you know more when we figure some things out.

It's a bit early to be craving a beating this bad. Are you a glutton for punishment or just excited?

Don't worry, we'll try to accommodate all levels of commitment.

Make it big and obvious, the bigger the tournaments the better right? Also it would probably be a good idea to get it started before launch, because once it does launch I get the feeling a lot of people will be too busy playing the game to even bother visiting the site..... I know I will be spending a considerably less amount of time on the forums after launch, thats the way its worked for me with every MK game. I hear about it, I keep coming to MKonline for updates, then the game comes out and I normally don't end up on this website after that.
However, if there were reason to continue visiting the site such as to find new competitive opponents as opposed to facing random people online, let alone having that shot at glory as the grand champ.
That would probably keep me here more often, and I doubt I'm the only one.

i also think it would be smart to have one the first weekend its launched, then people will have a similar time playing the game and no one is super awesome at it yet.
plus its a good way to celebrate the launch.

We're working out the kinks of tournament play. The last time we tried to do massive tournaments it got derailed because half the people involved didn't show up. For this reason it is unlikely that Killswitch and I will be organizing one at launch. We're looking at doing signups a few days after launch, with a tournament beginning on May 1st. Tournaments will be run monthly thereafter.

Last Fight Club I won half my matches from opponent not showing up. Should organize a one day tourney so that people don't drop off from lack of interest because it lasts over a month.

Maybe we should have an mko mk9 tourney before mkx comes out, then one for mkx shortly after release.
Good for the mko community to be active with one another online

Trust me, I fully understand your frustration, but hear me out.
The potential for the same problem exists even in a one-day tournament, and that's not even including the fact that any such event would have to be very limited in the number of entrants. People will still sign up and then no-show; it's an inevitable reality of these endeavors. We're working out ways to punish these players and we believe that we'll be able to keep the monthly format (which allows for schedule flexibility) while providing an event that people will want to commit to.
That said, I am not opposed to running small weekend events in addition to what we hope to offer you guys.
