dave ~ off line / online those attacks are still better then other attacks in the game. i can make a video, up+2 and 4 w/ kabal recovers faster then scorpion f+1 in weapon. i consider these 3 attacks to be MKA SAFE. then compare them to shinnoks b+1 there Really safe.

w/ shinnok even w/ lag i dont see much stuff being safe w/ him but 4,4 in weapon. and ofcourse what really helps him is his unparriable throw and the 33/33/33 attacks he has w/ the hand. i personally see him as upper tier some where in the 11-15 w/ kung lao, mavado. smoke, Jarek/jax /Hsu hao.

2 ~ best unparriable low attack UP+2
3 ~ 4 is a unwakeable plant in weapon. B+2 is a unwakeable plant in 1st stance.
4 ~ by the wall up+2 in weapon gives a free throw easy 32% damage.


im one of the few folks that didnt have to "relearn" kabal in MKA. i always played him 50/50. i couldnt do his high damaging combos in mkD.


after the spin make sure you end combos w/ either b+2 in 1st or w/ the 1,1,4 combo in weapon then jump over and 50/50.

reevaluate Shang, there is no friggin way he would go lower than highest of the low tier. Then again, he cannot go any much further upward too.

But all the way, from my experience Soul Drain and Mystic magic can make him alot more better than persay Nitara, Kai and Cyrax-

All low tiers besides Shujinko are better the Shang. Atleast they have something.

Nitara has Leopard d+3, b+3, 4, Kama pokes and b+1, air blood spit and a fantastic throw.

Kai is fast and has fire balls, d,f+1, d+1, d+3

Cyrax has sword b+3, b+4 and ninjitsu b+1

Kano has Laser shot, Xing Yi 4,2 weapon d+3 and b+4

Motaro has d+3 and 2,2

Sindel has a sweep and the blade.

SHANG IS CRAP. You have no damage with him. I mean you will juggle someone with snake b+3?? Snake lost 4,b+2 from MKD so there's not much to fear from in terms of mids.

His teleport is so easly parryble. His soul drain is nice, nothing more. Crap of a throw... He sucks so bad... Can't belive they gave Crane to Chameleon...

d+3 is nice but everyone in this game as atleast one good unparryble low so that doesnt count.... 2,2 are his mids, cmon guys, his mids are two unsafe hits that dont even juggle.

And most important, he is so slow!!

To me, Kira and Havik are the worst mid tiers. Anything worst then them is low, anything better is mid.

This is impossible to sort out as specifically as you guys are. You might get a good idea to who the top tier list is in general, but trying to say this guy is 7th and he’s better than the 8th is crazy because that is just WAY to specific. When you’re comparing apples to apples it’s easy to say, this one is bigger. But when you’re comparing apples to a Mack truck, it gets a little bit more difficult.

All the characters are different and have different moves and techniques. To say that one is better down to listing every character in order is just too objectionable. And people are still just playing favorites. "This is how I have seen him played", or "on my server there’s this guy who rules with XXX" are not statements judging tier, they are biased because it results on what YOU have seen, or what one other person can accomplish. If all of us were just honest, I mean blatantly honest with the characters we would come out more even.

Play 1,000 games and decide which characters beat you more than the other characters. Yes there may be this super-god player somewhere you have not played but that’s an EXCEPTION and not the rule for generality. With practice you can win with everyone, even Cyrax. (BTW I agree 100% with the guy who said he’s the worst cause he is).

There will always be great players who make us think twice about how good a character is, and that should be welcomed and expected. That does not change the characters designation as top tier or not.

Take an average player, playing other average players. Whatever characters win the most can give you a pretty good indication as to who is top tier. To re-echo what I have been saying all along, what happens when we all agree on a tier list? The conversation might go as such:

"Wow we finally finished the tier list, everyone agree?"
"Yup, it’s perfect"
"Cool now I know that Cyrax is on the bottom, now that is some useful info"

About the only purpose to a tier list is to say things like "Wow did you see that guy? He beat me with XXX he’s not even top tier" Short of that, the point to having an organized list of the more powerful characters serves no purpose WHATSOEVER. So lighten up, just play and have fun. We all know (Well the REAL players do) when they got beat by someone taking advantage of the character, and we know when someone deserves a pat on the back because their skills had to fill in on the characters flaws. All of this trash talking between people, who have their favorite characters tattooed on their back, is just people wanting to be right. You say ANY character sucks in these forums, the next four posts will be about “this one guy who is undefeated with him” or “man BobbyJo342 your so wrong I own with him I just do B,F+1+4+3 into U,U,L1,2,2,2,4 and own you. Some people take the tier lists far too personally.

all shang has is soul drain and up+4 in 1st stance. which isnt all that bad, teh soul drain keeps folks grounded and at bay. his straight foward fireball is ok at. his 2 fireballs that go in that big circle are pointless, also his teleport can be countered when it hits, so its another pointless move. only time its useful is for that final hit, but even then you better have a breaker ready.

i use him as much as i use Kitana, what that means is i use him ALOT. i win w/ him, i like him. id rather use him then sareena any day.

however im not gonna be like "hes very good and is tops" etc.

how i see it

Cyrax and sindel are the top 2 low tiers, IMO both can be lower mid tiers. especially when sindel is on the bell tower stage and "hell". both of those stages make her throw useful because her throw knocks folks off stages and stuff.

kai is the worst folled by jinko then shang.

but again i wouldnt agrue w/ anyone when they say hes the worst.

I 100% agree with what your saying, the player makes the difference. However in a tier list, it is supposed to have NOTHING to do with the player, and EVERYTHING to do with the characters natural moves as compared to others natural moves.

I have seen one extremely excellent shang, that has absolutly zero affect on his tier standing as being pretty darned crappy. All the more reason to play him in my mind. I dont like playing the most powerful chars, cause noobs cry when u beat em. No one cries IMBA when you win with shang ;)

Blocked 2,4 is a free b+4 for Dairou every time with decent connections.

Besides,Noob probably isn't even top 10 off-line.What will you abuse off-line? 2,4's? Playing Noob off-line requires you to throw a lot and abuse d+4,and pick your spots with 2,4. But even that is very risky because ducked throws are punishable off-line,and I won't get into 2,4.Sure,he has the damage,but so do the other 40+ character who can utilize their AC's succefully.

I do like his invisible turtling,though.It's a very legitmate and useful strategy.

There's very little a Noob player can do to a Dairou abusing b+4, u+4, and b+3 off-line since all 3 moves are 100% safe.If I whiff a TS Drop,I can just do b+4 and I recover instantly.

Dairou is a top 3 character off-line.Maybe even the best depending if he can handle Sareena (and a few other characters) in a series.

Questions about Kung Lao. Does he basically just rely on Broadsword b+2 / b+3 mixup? Is there anything else he has to work with, particularly is there anything in Shaolin Fist? I know Whirlwind Kicks is safe online or off.

Why Midway changed Shaolin Fist is byeond me.

d+3 is probably what you should use. 2 is also a good juggle starter. f+1 has crappy range.

b+3 and b+2 are both so easly parried.........

Kung Lao is mid tier. Mid - high tier at best.

i agree w/ you now on this. whenever i use noob i get all of his offline delays, its real annoying seeing i cant J/C ~ P/C when all these fucks do. i still him him as a top 10 tho.

you may think kabal gets this kind of delay off of his 4 and up+2 offline, he doesnt tho.

3. switch it up with 2 1 1 cs or 2 1 1 b 2 Opponent opens up most of the time.
4. Ninja stars cancel TS drops because when u get up u eat the projectile automatically.
5. i think being invisble is a FUCKin great tool.
6. 2,4 also gives you distance most of the time giving you time to move jump 4 or d4 or parry.

But I got to admit that Dai is Real good. But Just that i think Noobs better.

I dont care about whos better offline I play online only and Tournies are held online anyway.

2,4 is safe when your connection sucks (i.e. 2 or less stars).

Dan is right.I'd rather play Doohoo's Noob than his Raiden with Dairou.

I'm 100% sure that neither the X-Box or the PAL PS2 even use Dairou,and if players use him,they're probably not even using him correctly.Just because MK:A Dairou isn't as broken and as easy to use as MK:D Dairou that doesn't mean he isn't good any more.

Are you asking a question? Btw, Noob Saibot is not that hard to beat. Doohoo's strength lies in his Raiden and Kenshi. They both are tougher for me to beat then his Noob Saibot.

Check out his Raiden, I didnt even come close to beating it. Also, his Kenshi even beat my Rain in the first fight. But when he used Noob I was able to win with Reptile but I lost with Liu Kang.
