im ready anytime fuzzymic. respond to my PM with your PSN.
@Mos3ph kinda shocking with no character selection. was this random? gimme the low down. ive been working like crazy.
I had asked people to submit a list of character preferences to me.
Funny. I never seen it once? so i guess im crippled for this tournament.
No offense, this needs to be organized way better. Im screwed I guess. so another month to even have a chance?
Pre-Character selection is stupid. Let people be whomever they like. Like real tournaments and all the big streams we have been watching.
Now is the time for MKO to implement e-mail notification for PM's and have a massive PM distributor to update everybody via PM for everything. Because if I dont dig through every little thread on the website, I get stuck with randoms?
This is completely amateur. I'm actually insulted at the simplicity and bullshit that flows to us to take care of issues that should be your job..
"oh yea were overseeing tournaments, but you have to do all the contacting, cant pick your character and have to set up everyhting on your own , we are just posting lists of who faces who while stipulations of what we want from you are posted in other unlinked threads."
What a joke
Hilarious because when I put out the initial post way back that detailed all of this (before it was ever revealed to the general community), you said, and I quote:
"Perfect. Theres nothing that I can say Im not happy with."
Eat crow, jackwagon.
And I would love to see this site have a mass PM distributor and e-mail notifications and all that. The fact that we don't have it is the reason all of you are not being babied through this entire process; it's simply too much work for me to handle. Speaking of which, you're a PS3 commissioner, so how about instead of bashing me you actually fulfill your duty?
Yea, thought so. Shove it.
Since SubMan resigned, I went for Tundra, who would've been the winner's opponent. I beat him 4-1
Second set? I feel like I'm talking to a collection of brick walls here. Do none of you read anything? Vash, I'm sorry for sounding like I'm taking it out on you, so don't take this personally.

LOL. Shadaloo, check your pm's.
you can read the PM you responded to where I told you I diddn't have the time to be a PS3 commissioner. Which you understood, or so I thought.
And I do recall that exchange and I admit it sounded good at the time. but to have debut tournaments without free selection. Although how interesting it seemed to a community that took forever to implement any system at all, it seems like running before even knowing how to walk, without shoes.
@"babality"
bringing personal levels of supremacy is completely biased. I wont even pay attention. Grow up. A federally defended right of speech and opinion in USA, Canada and many other countries is being used. I will never limit somebody from opinion. And those minds who cant take criticism are in need of maturing. Its better than "babying" you guys when some more steps clearly need to be taken.
@M0s3pH on a more professional note. Thanks for providing a link. Are character locks still in place? different chars? just trying to clarify
But I have to agree about mass PMs and stuff.
Maybe MKO should consider moving to WordPress or Drupal, where you can easily install modules to enhance functionality of the website and develop your own modules.
I prefer Drupal myself since I earn money developing modules for it :P
I would like to respectfully request I am allowed to request another character in losers since I received no chance to event request that I was aware of.
(continued). As I thought. I got my ass handed to me (sweep) by somebody Im positive I could have beat should I had a character I actually used before.
If not, I apologize but I retract from losers bracket. Im not going to tarnish my record because of this. I would love to continue though. I urge you to consider. If not, GGs espio. may stryker win.

Yea so im in the middle of my match right now, its pretty clear espio is going to win.

Many people are saying that they were given no prior knowledge of this character request, and the fact that characters were locked. That is strange, because one of the first things that i read in the sign up thread was the fact that there was a draft format, and since not everybody could be brought into a chat room and draft (at least not easily), sending a list was the way to help guarantee a good character. I agree that i was a little blank on some of the matters, but i made sure to ask questions before actually participating, not complaining after signing up. (do refer to the first post in june tourney sign up thread if you dont believe me that this was all pretty much spelled out in the beginning, including the thread for MKO fight club rules for the rules on sets, rounds, and the set up for tournaments). Its all a matter of doing some reading by coming on to these threads at least once every few days.
Im not trying to lecture here or demean anybody, but im with m0s3pH. Being asked to read a little bit and follow along with tournament procedures and processes as they are happening is the least that should be asked. I would almost take it as an insult on my intelligence to be babied through every step (Maybe thats just because im used to doing my own research and working without much direction being a recent college grad. It was up to me to find out how to do a project and any details about it, after being told the general outline). Either way, whether you knew or not about fixed character selection, just giving up not to "tarnish" your record is being a pretty poor sport. These tournaments i thought were more for the fun, and not particularly for winning or not. This doesnt just go to you, Casselman, this also goes to all the others that signed up for the tourney, and failed to see the rules of the tourney, and just assumed, and then complained after finding out the rules.
Yes I seen that there would be characters to be drafted.
No i was not aware of the draft taking place.
People have lives and jobs. I personally bust my ass from 5am-5pm every day. not home till around 6. Eat and shower, 7:30 if I am lucky. That gives me 90 minutes of free time to myself from monday to friday. I am not going to use that time which may be needed for shopping and other necessities, to skower 6 pages of forum posts looking for a news update.
Yes, that really brings it down to my discretion to enter with such little time. But many people lead these kind of lives. If these updates were done in the form of individual threads, then they would not be missed as a new thread entitled "PS3 JUNE CHARACTER DRAFT" which can easily be deleted afterwards, would never escape the notice of even the busiest members.
and on a personal note, whether I care about my record or not is no big deal. Its when theres the presumption that I get losses (when i care about them) habving to use a character I HATE against somebody who more likely than not, had a little more time to read and choose their character. I was 300+wins and only 34 losses. a ratio of 9.5:1. ending this with approx 300-42 is a big deal and puts me around 6.5:1.
So excuse me if id rather not willingly give up even more against somebody who is clearly got an advantage as im a character who was tiered quite low and even with my severe dedication, am not able to transform into a monster overnight with my busy workload.
Previous agreements with character drafts and locks made by myself were in a state of pre-maturity. new to the tournament scene. Now that I've dove a bit into structure and different tastings of what is usually offered or considered GQ. Is MKO really gonna only allow character selection once every few months? No offense to anybody who is organizing. But that's fucking ridiculous.
Its not quitting because im losing. If somebody honestly beats me, I'm the first person to congratulate and throw up a "gg!" Its when I get thrown into a position than even participating becomes un-enjoyable before the game even starts, that I lose all faith in this.
Call it what you will. But I am not gonna lay down because of a failure to collaborate on both sides. Especially trying to contribute as much to MKO as I possibly can.
Sometimes the asshole's words hold some words that the polite would rather ignore. Whether you agree or not. to not consider anything based on opinion is rather unwise in a community that is clearly losing to TYM and MKU for hardcore players. The "assholes" are just trying to help, with a bit of impatience.
My request stands. And I feel it should perhaps be offered to anybody who is hit out of winners bracket. a gamble or random select between 5 characters of their choice?
Just an idea.

Whether or not people join just to play or win is a completely individual conjuration which will change on levels between every player.

dude.. trust me, if anybody can understand having almost no time to yourself, its me. Like i have said, i am recent college grad, currently trying to hold down a 40+ hour a week job. I also have a wife, and friends that i am constantly going out and doing things with, plus the time for shopping and such. So trust me, i empathize for feeling a little overwhelmed with all the things to do, and not enough time to do them. Its a wonder that i ever find time to sleep. But still the point stands. If a person doesnt have time to read the rules, then they dont have time to participate.
And pardon me for sounding skeptical, but your pretty badass with many characters on the roster, and that takes a degree of dedication, as well as actually getting a platinum in the game pretty quickly, and actually having platinums in more than a few games you play. You also mentioned that you have over 300 wins. When do you have the time for all these matches and trophy hunting if you only have but 90 minutes a day to play, if you was to use all your free time to play? Now, im not bad at this game, but i definitely am not as good as most who play, so yeah, i tend not to worry as much about my record but more about having fun. Either way, it sounds to me that all the time that was poured into this game, at least 15 minutes could have been spent looking over some rules on this site if it really meant that much to you to participate. It would at least pay respect to the tournament and to the people that took the time to organize these tournaments.
One last thing, i fully support most months NOT having a free choice in characters, but rather having some sort of restriction. That helps make the tournaments interesting, rather than having the same people win time and time again. thats a one way ticket to having low interest for any tourney, except for those that pride themselves on their record and the fact of what combos they know. Give me a break. Yeah it would mean that people like you wont win every month, and im all for that. The fact is, most people who play this game are casual level gamers. Sure they can land a few combos once in a while, but pit them with a seasoned veteran, and they lose 9 times out of 10. Tourneys dont have to be about that, nor should any fan site only cater to the hardcore gamers. There are more fans than the hardcore gamers, and restricting your view, to me, is unwise.
Yearly weather effects on work amounts gives me sometimes great chunks of time to myself. I was very lucky to have a good 2 weeks of spare time when it came to release. Most was done then.
Weekends I have free but they are usually taken up, I wont bore you with reasons.
I would say that I am "good" with about half the roster, mediocre with the other half, and excellent with no more than 4.
I respectfully disagree about the time. 3 sets doesn't take much more than 30 minutes. I can organize my time around that. No biggie. Its quickly accessible when its planned ahead. But its when unplanned posts that become impossible to keep track of are being made that it gets frustrating.
Perhaps its the nature of the physical work I do. I come home ready for bed most days.
That doesn't mean I am not giving all i have to participate.
I just dont agree with this character selecting method. At least give people who missed out the option to random select every round so they arent stuck. I feel an alternative needs to be met here.

- I have a full-time job.
- I have a long-distance girlfriend.
- I'm still trying to hunt for jobs in my actual field (i.e. not retail, which is the job I have now).
- At times I feel like more of a parent to my brothers than my mom actually is.
- I have friends, and a life as well.
Whatever free time I have goes into running this and doing my job for MKO. It's not that easy. It's not easy to come home, get on here, and have to deal with many no-shows on both sides of things here. It's frustrating as hell to know that I don't have all the tools that I need to ensure the utmost participation. The last thing I want to deal with is you crying over your W-L stats. If you'd rather not sully your supposed great name (news flash: nobody at NRS is giving you a cookie for winning 10 times as many matches as you lose) then pick and choose the ones you want to play in based on the formats. I don't see what's so difficult about that.
I didn't give this site Fight Klub because I felt that I had to, I did it because I wanted to. I don't owe you or anyone else anything when it comes to this, because it was my desire to try to foster a tournament scene. If you want to be juvenile about it, then be my guest, but know that such behavior is not welcomed. If you don't want to follow the rules that I've set out, then you don't get to play. Simple as that.

Im not even going to pay respect to the rest of that post. MKO is going downhill when mods are falling off. Remarking upon the shortcomings on your part causing the frustration of others in whatever manner, is not "crying".
people tell you what you need, and you shit on them. Great way to mod. this is getting way out of hand. I see why people flock to other sites now.

You shouldn't be running this then. Period.

dude.. just give it a rest already. In today's society, just because somebody has many commitments does not mean that they can not effectively run a tourney, even if it takes a couple people to ease the load on one person. If you honestly think that any one person on any site that isnt for profit makes the site their life, or at least commits a large portion of their time to the site in order to run a monthly tourney, then you are horribly delusional. Like moseph said, he didnt have to even come up with this idea and implement this, so if you can only come up with disrespectful comments on things you dont agree with, you dont have to post

If we're falling off, then what does that say about you? You were one of us and didn't exactly leave on your own terms. You're full of shit and you know it. I only gave everyone two weeks to send me a list of character preferences, the fact that you neglected to check back (since had you read the original post, you'd have known that the information was coming) and got who you got doesn't give you the right to PMS over it. If you sent me a list and I douched you over, then you could've complained. However, I didn't. You had ample opportunity to send me a list and you didn't, and that's on you. 19 out of the 27 people got the message and followed directions. You didn't. Also, what makes you think you can just expect me to give you a character that you'd like to play as? I'm not a mind reader and you don't get any special favors, neither does anyone else. Like I told you in the PM I sent, if I let you do something, I have to let everyone do it, and in this particular case it undermines the tournament format. I tried to be friendly with you even though you entered guns blazing, but you have angered me and left me no choice but to take this route.
Great way to mod? You're trying to circumvent the rules. I'm not going to stand for that. Sorry that everyone's buddy m0s3pH who nobody has taken seriously since day one allegedly did you dirty, but I clearly stated the guidelines and they are not and have never been negotiable once a tournament begins.
I posted that the draft format was TBA. I posted the directions for the format. You didn't read them. Tough shit. If I have to baby you through this then you probably shouldn't have entered. As a member of this forum I can only assume that you know how to read, so it's time to put that talent to use. If you don't want to deal with a more stringent format, then don't play.
