Everyone will always get the shits if their favourite character is nerfed, or gets a harder matchup due to another characters buff. It doesn't change the fact it is still regarded as the most balanced fighter.

I've said it numerous times, as i'm sure others have, if the game is deep and tourny worthy, it doesn't affect anyone who doesn't want it to be, but it does make it a better game for them.

I'm not a good player, but I enjoy most fighting games, i'm not going whinge and rant if people are trying to make the game the best it can be. In the end it can only get better from it.

Back to SFIV, it's a highly regarded tourney fighter, but it doesn't stop the casual player jumping in and throwing a few fireballs etc, but they do have the option to learn all the advanced elements and tactics if they so wish.

When they say they're "making MK with the hardcore in mind" it just means that they're making a game that's not utter shit. There are no mechanics that if you add then to a fighting game it suddenly becomes a pro fighter and all the hardcore dudes will play it because. You make a bad game with bad mechanics and only casuals will want to play. You make a good game with good mechanics and the casual and hardcore crowd will want to play. Aaand that's it.

Do I want this MK to be good? Absolutely
Do I want this MK to be amazing? Absolutely
Does it have to be tournament worthy or get approval from "hardcore" players to be good or amazing? No. A million times no. "Top level players" may say MK isn't as good as (S)SF4 or MvC3 or whatever, but does that make it a bad game? No.

They've already proved with the demo and even just watching videos that this game is gonna have a better fighting system than any MK since probably 2 or 3. (I concede MKDA - MKA sucked balls gameplay-wise. *shutter*)

This game will sell well, there's no questioning that. Even MKvsDC sold something like 1.8 million and they didn't market it nearly as much as they're marketing this game. Just the sales alone will pull MK into the fighting community. Simple math, the more people who buy the game, the bigger the pool you can pick from to get people into tournaments. If you don't believe me, look at Halo. Halo is an okay game. It's not terrible, but not nearly as good as people make it out to be. Yet, you can watch MLG Halo tournaments on TV. Why? Because sooooo many people have it.

So, to sum a lot of this stupidity up, ErmacYou and AcidShitter93 completely suck at the game that is MK, therefore won't play competitively or online, knowing they're just going to be free wins for folks like me. Because of this, the sucking, they don't want the MK team to hire high level players for testing and input OR want the game to be competition and tournament worthy, again because it puts a game like this out of their league. Then they come and ruin good threads like this with their ranting and raving, all because they're BAD.

COD has tournaments and its still a noobfest lol zombies are the only reason that disc is even in my house.

Just because they're saying it doesn't have to be tournament worthy, doesn't mean that they don't want it to be tournament worthy. Some of us are content with having a really fun, amazing game.

No, they want it to have solid gameplay, be balanced and not full of glitches, nothing more.

The guys that play at tourney level know their shit when it come to games from the technical side of it. If they say something doesn't work then chances are it doesn't.

It might not matter if you get rolled by an infinite combo by some character at home against your friend, but it does at a tournament. Making sure the game is balanced and glitch free makes it a better game.

Casual gamers whinging that Kitana's blue isn't blue enough doesn't help anyone.

For those arguing the differences between hardcore and casual gamers. I've come from both directions with many other online games throughout my gamer years but the aggression coming from both sides is pretty much just dumb and hot headed.

For starters I am going into this game being a total noob. I've played fighters in the past, can't think of any I actually owned other than super smash bros. This brand new MK first drew me in by appeal. I always thought the characters/violence of the series was awesome but was a total scrub when it came to fighting games, used to be a complete hater. So I've been doing my research and decided to order the TE edition because I don't even own a stick. I hear you need one to be competitive because that's the second thing that drives me. Games just don't last much further than a single play through the story anymore unless it has an in depth and competitively balanced multilayer.

So before this becomes a wall of text about my life story just let me drop down one point. Hardcore and casual gamers should compliment each other because one demands good game play and in depth experience. Which whether you like it or not the super hardcore tournament players can bring a lot of popularity to mainstream audiences, korean starcraft tourneys anyone? The other demands a fun experience while being the side that holds a majority of the profits so that the developer can continue working on a great experience that hopefully meets both expectations because THAT is what makes a truly good game worthy of being "hardcore" about.

Idk about any of you, but this is what I look for in a game when spending $150 and this is what I really hope this MK is going to be.

I agree with the guy who said it's possible to be easily accessible and deep. Spend a day on it, you get the grips of it, spend a year on it you become a master. It's just a matter of making an engine with depth and a half-decent learning curve. Not having played the demo yet, all indications seem to say they have done this. If the game is as good as it looks at this point, it doesn't matter wether it gets the hardcore tournament geek seal of approval, because it will already be a damn fine game.

So, why should you hate the players that just want it to be as balanced as possible?
