First off, yeah, online Raiden is broken.

Second, you shouldn't be saying horrible things to spammers, because they ARE better than you. If you're losing to any spammer that isn't using Raiden, that means you don't know how to block consistently and you're not adjusting your strategy to your opponent. In the words of Raiden, "... only you can change [that]."
If you just block consistently, you will destroy spammers.

Spammers = people who are better than you

How many times are you going to knock down Raiden, and then not immediately press block waiting for his torpedo ? Zero ... you know why ? Because its easier to feel better about yourself by making excuses for losing, than it is to just have the skill and ability to read a player, and know that they are going to wake up torpedo.

LEARN TO BLOCK

I just get in close for insane combos and block frequently. I'll usually get a message like "Combo Whore" or "Block button much?" I just respond with

I actually don't mind spammers that much. Sure it's irritating but, since I'm mainly an offensive player, this helps me build up my defensive strategy.

In saying that, I need more practice.

There is no such thing as spammers. Only good and bad players.
If someone can beat you using the same move over and over you are a terrible player and should quit the game, burn the disc and sell your Xbox 360 and/or PS3.

Spammers might be arrogant, but they are a predictable lot. The best thing to do against a spammer is play it cautious and defensive, bait them into attacking. If you let the spammer rattle you and get in your head, you'll start making careless mistakes.

I see where you're coming from though, Raiden, Ermac, and Kung Lao spammers are the worst offenders, but it's important to not get mad and frustrated.

Scorpion and Smoke are much easier to beat with their form of spam.




Don't send them rage messages either, you're giving them the satisfaction of knowing they got to you by doing so and it's unnecssary. If you win or lose against a spammer, my advice? Just don't rematch them, it will truly save you a lot of annoyance and grief I promise



The one lesson I've learned from such players is better defense and more patience. I like to be aggressive when I go up against someone, but I realize that you have to play smart and play defensive too and not let them frustrate you.

Raiden isnt broken either, though he is GOD tier.

Hypothetically, you could counter Raiden's teleport on reaction(if your a fighting game wizard) and punish him with a correct guess. But online, lag makes it almost impossible to do so, and since the Raiden player is probably buffering his next move before arrival, you're pretty much just screwed.

I think the OP is just fishing for comments. He/She doesn't really believe what he/she wrote (just my guess).

Mileena tele kick, Sub Zero Ice Clone and walk in front, actually any teleport attack can stop Raiden. Kano also counters him, because the knife toss stops the fly move, and turns into an up-ball that will hit if Raiden teleports.

Im sure there are other counters I havent seen yet, but thats off the top of my head.

Raiden just makes it so you cant sit there and do zoning, or hold block all day. (which are valid strategies as well btw). In other words most people arent skilled enough to play otuside of a set pattern, Raiden happens to fuck up most of those patterns, but hes very beatable.

If you believe he is broken, get online and go beat everybody with him, until you can do that, he isnt broken.

On reaction? With lag? That's doubtful. Raiden is going to be inputting a chain combo or throw before my I even know he's teleporting.
That's a narrow definition of broken. He's broken in the sense that he can only be beaten by an unreasonably long series of correct guesses. Sure, he can be beaten. You can also win 15 consecutive games of Rock Scissors Paper. Doesn't mean that game is by any means competitive. Sure, he isn't Super Turbo Akuma, but he's still unacceptable by competitive standards in regards to online and needs to be patched.

If thats happening, then your connection is real bad, and thats the truth because I play with and against Raiden all the time.

No I'm not and I didn't expect people to really comment. I'm just sick of facing Raiden tackle spammers. I kicked his ass the first round and if he didn't punch me, it would of been a Flawless. Second round he spammed that damned Tackle move the whole time. After the 2nd time I realized I could block it by blocking low. I blocked when he spammed that shit and nearly beat him but he won. I don't care about losing if it's to a person who knows how to play the game. It annoys me when I lose to a person who just presses 1 button the whole time. To pretty much everyone on here I suppose: Spammers are easy to beat. I just had no clue how to counter that Tackle move until the other day. Don't know why people have to be assholes about this though.

That is true. I don't know why people get so catty when it comes to gameplay discussion.
EDIT: But to be fair, you did openly admit to sending angry messages to people who spam. That's probably what set off a lot of people.

The reason that I get to be an asshole about it is because I do not like people who try to impose fake rules on others. Pardon me but I was playing the game the way it came, exploring all strategies, all characters. If you want to play by some arbitrary code of honor, that is fine. However do not try to impose it on the rest of us.

the list goes on. If I played to please all the whners I wouldn't be able to do anything. I play the game to win, and I will do whatever I think gives me the best chance, right now I believe using Raiden teleports, fly, sweep kicks, throwing, and his b3, 1, 2, fly combo or his 3,3,4 combo in mix ups is the strongest playing Im capable of.
If you dont like to play against that, your entitled to your opinion, but dont accuse me and others like myself of cheating or cheapening the game. I personally regularly contribute or at least try to contribute to the stragety zone of this forum, because I do spend time on the game. If I beat you with one move its because your a dumbshit and kept eating it, as soon as you start making me pay for that move I will introduce a new tactic.
I am not obligated to make my playstyle more colorful to please your arbitrary ideals of how the game should be played. If you have a problem playing against me all you need to do is take the loss, decline the rematch, and go play against somebody else. However rather than do that most of you noobs are sore fucking losers that would rather cry "unfair" than actually learn the game and defeat spam tactics. That is why persons like myself get angry over posts like this.
Additionally I will mention that I have started a thread based on anti-repition. Currently it has 1 reply. I find that odd considering how many people bitch about popular and repitious strategies. Myself and others have already done the work for you, read it and youll be better. Right now that thread has 1 reply and that 1 reply is another person who has put time into stopping a supposedly overpowered character. In contrast this thread, which is little more than a piss and moan rant has 20replies. Proof that people would rather bitch about something, than take the time to understand and counter it.

I don't mean to single you out, because it's not just you, but you happen to more active the others. I'm guilty of the below examples too, but anyway...


No one gets to be an asshole. That's how the fighting game community started to implode in the first place. That is the last thing we should be doing if we want to our community to grow.

Remember, the people complaining about spamming more often than not actually believe spamming is unfair. It's not arbitrary to them. In their heads, they truly believe there is no reasonable counter to spammers. It's not like they're complaints are some maniacal ploy to make pros play worse. They think they're right despite that they're totally wrong. Instead of shooting them down, we need to demonstrate why they're wrong.

I phrased that quote the wrong way. I didn't mean that I "get to be an asshole" what I meant was the reason that I come of arrogant and harsh is because Im tired of being accused of exploits, not knowing how to play, ect. Simply because the actuality is that the persons who accuse myself and others do not understand the game.

I always take the time to explain this to them in text messages what they are doing wrong. I try to be a nice guy.

I find the overly aggressive responses to these kinds of threads annoying and really off putting to the game. First off, you guys gotta admit repeating the same one or two moves over and over IS cheap despite how simple it is or easy to counter it may be. Instead of truly learning a character and coming up with big combo's or practically being psychic with 50/50 mix ups, both of which take skill, time, and experience, people just learn two moves MAX and do them over and over. Now I understand your view of whatever it takes to win is a strategy that can be defeated, but someone relatively new to the game or fighters in general is not going to see it that way right off the bat. For them spamming can be really frustrating and appear cheap. ESPECIALLY with a laggy online game.

However, that being said I understand how people get annoyed by new or unskilled players choosing to create a thread about it BEFORE looking up the proper counter, i just don't think "fuck u scrub u suck" is helpful or necessary.
