Official Homelander & Ferra Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer
Homelander touches down next week!

We got a taste of Homelander & Ferra earlier this month, but at long last Mortal Kombat 1 can officially show-off its latest Kombat Pack characters with a full gameplay trailer! The crossover guest and diminutive death-dealer are combining to make a formidable pair. Watch:

Homelander is a brutal, fascist parody of Superman and his ilk, taken from the superhero funhouse world of The Boys: a 2006 comic book created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and popularly adapted to live-action for Amazon Prime in 2019. The Mortal Kombat version isn't voiced by Antony Starr, but there are still plenty of references from the streaming TV version.

For the MK die hards, Ferra brings wild & chaotic energy to fights as a nimble assist who can be used as a weapon, leaping from the player's back to do damage to the opposing fighters. She comes from Mortal Kombat X, substituting your chosen character for her symbiotic partner Torr.

Homelander is officially released to downloadable content on Tuesday, 4th of June -- available to everyone who already has The Kombat Pack. Ferra will join the roster later next month, leaving only Takeda to be released. Chief Creative Officer Ed Boon has already confirmed there will be more beyond that, including more story content.

What do you think of Homelander and Ferra? Are you looking forward to their long awaited arrival? What do you hope to see next? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and dig deeper in the Mortal Kombat 1 category!

Warner Bros Announces Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Release Date
Feature film sequel books late 2025 release!

Warner Brothers has officially announced a projected slate for its various movie studios, laying out a roadmap for feature film releases into 2026. Among the titles earmarked for a 2025 premiere is the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 film sequel. Read on for more detail:

Simon McQuoid returns to direct the sequel to the controversial 2021 Mortal Kombat theatrical reboot, with a forecast release date of October 24, 2025 per a report by Deadline.

Principal photography wrapped at the start of this year, but as the movie aims to embrace the "weird" side of the franchise according to writer Jeremy Slater, there's sure to be plenty of post-production work to be done. The sequel will introduce various key figures from the video game series as it explores Shao Kahn and the conflict between Edenia and Outworld.

The announcement of the second film's release comes as NetherRealm Studios Chief Creative Officer and series co-creator Ed Boon got fans talking with a kommunity poll pitting characters from two eras of cinematic adaptations against one another.

Posted to X (aka; Twitter); the poll asks fans which invented-for-a-movie character they would most like to see as a Kameo Fighter assist in the current Mortal Kombat 1 video game. At the time of writing, ill fated cinematic invention Art Lean, portrayed in 1995 by Kenneth Edwards, is ahead of 2021 lead protagonist Cole Young (Lewis Tan), with 52.2% of 15,668 votes.

The 2021 film fared better when Boon also asked fans which film-inspired skins they would like to see. The newest movie iterations are in front at time of writing with 30.3% of 14,327 votes, just ahead of maligned 1997 sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (27%)1. The 2025 sequel is at 22%.

Although the Mortal Kombat 1 video game reboot has largely carved out its own universe-bending version of the MK mythos, small echoes of the 2021 film could be seen in designs, such as Liu Kang wearing similar white & dark. The game also just added a Scorpion skin inspired by the 1995 movie.

Homelander & Ferra First Look Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer
MK1 milks it with The Boys guest.

Ed Boon is in Mexico City for Comic Culture Experience 2024 and where else would he unveil the latest Mortal Kombat 1 downloadable characters than on the CCXP Thunder Stage? Homelander is burning his way into everybody's brains with milk intro and Ferra kameo in the first look sample trailer. Watch:

The brutal fascist superhero from The Boys is putting it all out there, displaying a twisted take on the powers of Superman that is right at home with Mortal Kombat. Along with the TV-inspired milk intro comes heat vision fatality and special leaves no doubt if it's a bird or plane. This is also the first chance to hear Homelander, who won't be voiced by iconic actor Antony Starr.

Also cheering on the team is Ferra, who was also teased alongside a movie-inspired Scorpion with recent screenshots. The diminutive MKX character will be the next and final Kameo Fighter to be released as part of the first Kombat Pack.

There will be more MK1 downloadable content in the future. Along with final add-on Takeda; Chief Creative Officer Boon confirmed future story mode DLC at CCXP2023 almost a year ago, and also teased a big surprise that we're still yet to learn about.

Ed Boon Previews Mortal Kombat 1 Ferra & Movie Scorpion
WELCOME!!

Mavado makes his Kameo Fighter return this week in Mortal Kombat 1, but he isn't the only character Ed Boon is showing off in new social media posts. The Chief Creative Officer revealed screenshots for a klassic movie-inspired Scorpion alongside the next & final downloadable kameo coming to the Kombat Pack! Take a look:

The childlike Ferra was introduced in Mortal Kombat X, riding on the mighty shoulders of her hulking symbiotic partner Torr. Now every kombatant will be her partner when she makes a return as the final Kameo Fighter included with the first Kombat Pack. She can be seen teaming with the klassic movie skinned Scorpion in screenshots below.

The aforementioned new Scorpion skin features the leathery yellow attire and distinct moulded black mask of the 1995 live-action feature film. Portrayed by Chris Casmassa, Scorpion was featured as an enslaved minion working for Shang Tsung (Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa), leading to a memorable battle with Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby).

Sharing images of the film-inspired design to X (aka; Twitter) [pictured above], Ed Boon notes, "It[']s amazing how much love MK fans have for the nostalgic costumes." Mortal Kombat 11 brought the world of the beloved movie into the games with a Klassic Movie Skins Pack, following the incorporation of actor Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa as the voice actor & likeness for that game's version of Shang Tsung.
