2. Ehhh, I'm not so sure about that. I mean opinions can be wrong if it's like "I think the color blue is more yellow", but when it comes to stuff like "the cyborg storyline is pure crap!" or "Sub-Zero has the best storyline out of all MK characters" it gets tricky. In this case, even if you have stuff to back it up, it's not a fair fight since we haven't seen what purpose Cyber-Zero has.
3. This goes along with 2. It's not fair to assume they haven't thought up a decent or better than storyline. To be honest, I don't feel Sub-Zero's storyline is any better or worse than my boy Scorpion or even the lame Liu Kang. It's not a fair argument at all because we have not been told of anything other than the existence of Cyber-Zero.

My two bits: plots in fighting games aren't half as important as plots in 70's porn films. I couldn't possibly care less about what's canon, who did what in DA, Deception, Armageddon, or heck, even MKII; it's all completely irrelevant to me. All I care about is whether the fighting mechanics are good (and I'm no tournament-level player, so I'm not hard to please), the characters are actually balanced well, and if the game is FUN to play. They could give us Cyber Reptile and as long as he plays well nothing else matters. It's one more character crammed into a game with nearly thirty to begin with, people. One more option in a game that overwhelms you with them.

Welcome to the world of MK. It's fine that story doesn't matter to you, but you've got to recognize and understand the fact that it does to a sizeable portion of this series' fanbase. It's a detail that sets it apart from most other fighters out there. It's one of the draws of the series that kept people coming in all those years it had a shit fighting engine.

There's no reason it can't have both a good engine and a good plot. For the first time it looks like it can have both, so yeah, expect people to get up in arms when it looks like something shoddy's going down.

That aside, MKO is more traditionally a messageboard devoted to the aesthetics of the games. There's not a whole lot of in depth strategy talk that goes on here as compared to other places like ultimatemk.com, for example. So, get used to seeing a lot of story talk about these parts.

This is nothing new to me. I've been around for several years though I don't post very often. That said, I'm still entitled to my opinion about plots in fighters, and Mortal Kombat's plot isn't any deeper than the average 16-bit game's. Honestly, Mortal Kombat is right up there with Star Wars in terms of its crap-to-creativity ratio: it offered a few revolutionary visual effects back in a day when there wasn't much to write home about to begin with, and has been let off the hook since then for being written by Down syndrome apes with crayons stuck in their butts.

I'm not saying this to piss anyone off. I'm merely blown away by how many people will prejudge this new character's inclusion without ANY idea how he's implemented—or even why he is. In keeping with the Star Wars analogy here, not every character retroactively introduced into an established plotline *has* to be Jar-Jar Binks, guys. Get over yourselves already and let NRS do what you pay them to do.
