Imo, the only negative of his x-ray was the gut punch. Otherwise, the whirling kick is cool, and the electrocution is what should have been his fatality in MK9 due to the cgi art. His fatality is good, but nothing jaw-dropping. The combo @ 1:33 in the video is mesmerizing! The way he spins around, reaches around his back, then blow a cone of lighting on the ground... I could watch that all day!

On a side note, Kotal looks more impressive here than he did @ E3. I love the dark totem he summons, and his combos are reminiscent of Jax.

I think he only has any teleport in Displacer.

They didn't even try with his design did they? lmao. I mean damn, one thing NRS is good at is re-designs and you can expect even the most expected MK characters to sport fresh new looks but Raiden? Exactly...the...fucking...same. It's like they took MK9 Raiden and made a few quick minor changes and called it a day.

To me that was pretty sick. And if Raiden, who I've never been a fan of can give me hype, then i know this game will be amazing. I loved all 3 of his movesets. Nrs kind of finally made the thunder god a beast. the last two games, for me at least, left me wondering how he was a god of anything. now i see it. And I'm not going to dissect any fashion choices the team made. MK isn't about what they're wearing as much as what they're doing. this is my favorite reveal yet.

Raiden never looked better. This game keeps getting better and better.

Hopefully Fujin will be shown soon.

Just out of interest JR, what would have made a Raiden reveal more interesting to you? Would it require a total overhaul? I'm not trying to start a fight, just curious

its raiden, i dont think raiden has to look entirly different with each new game. tho id like to some more diffrences on his variation costumes.

So I guess Scorpion and Sub-Zero are meh too because they're from MK9 right? Despite that they both look like a lot of fun to play and their redesigns are both impressive. Some people are just impossible to please.

Raiden was to be expected, ultimately. He and Scorp/Sub are the mainstays and ones that get most exposure and press since about MK vs. DC, so no surprise there.

But he looks good! Hopefully an unexpected and truly exciting reveal will come next, but this certainly suffices!

Agreed. I think the trio of Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden are MK's equivalent to Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li in SF. They just HAVE to make it into every game in the franchise. They're too iconic to the series to leave out.

As i mentioned before.. Raidens look is a little bit disappointed, The game itself is dark and Raiden... is like a little star in a pitchblack night ;) Also his fatality is not bad.. but i have the feeling they could make it so much better with adding more details.

On the other side.. the variations.. Holy shit, this must be pure fun to play with him. And if i have to choose between an awesome fatality or an awesome gameplay... i know what i would choose.. :D Someone said it before.. the part where Raiden shoots lightning in a cone on the ground opponent and blows him away is just awesome!

Damn... I never saw a Raiden so full of electricity. Hell.. the only thing i'm missing is he blows lightning out of his ass ;D


On a sidenote... anyone mentioned the voice from Kotal Kahn? Damn.. i'm loving it. It sounds so well. especially when he says "temporally"

Everyone hating on the thunder god smh. He looked pretty damn boss to me and his variations were incredible. The sound effects, the mobility, the space control with his traps....Raiden is going to be a bad ass in MKX.

Finally got internet connection to see and say stuff!

Well, first off, I'm already liking this Raiden more than the last game. I feel that these are definitely the kind of moves that he's been needing for a very long time. I'm set on the lightning traps, and the teleportation variation might be what I'm going to stick with.

I don't mind his appearance. He's a thunder god, does he really need a dramatic change of appearance? I was actually convinced for a while that he was going to be this stir crazy nutcase who would look darker. And you know something, I'm glad that he's not Dark Raiden, as much as people kept bringing that up. So, appearance-wise, I'm fine with it.

I had to spoil myself for the fatality part. That's sick. I can't say anything else about it, but I love what happens to the eyes.

Actually, I'm a simple person to please. I just like a little effort thrown in is all. Raiden looks EXACTLY how he did in MK9, which does NOT fit this game at all. He needed a new look to fit the dark atmosphere of this game but they've instead were lazy and didn't even try. The other returning MK9 vets may look better- one can hope, but I'm more excited to see more MK4-MKD and all new characters. Raiden just killed any hype I had for returning MK9 fighters from a design stand point. Boring, boring, boring.

Understandable. I saw the still picture of him, and the design isn't exactly exciting. They definitely could have done more with it, especially when you compare it to Scorpion, Sub-Zero and the leaked Ermac concept art.

I hated it.

He only did it during the Displacer part of the trailer so I don't think we'll be seeing it outside of that. The only special he did throughout was the torpedo thingy.

I like his look though. I mean he looks like Raiden like some other people said. I miss the cape though. I'm just a sucker for capes.

With this much hate, I could suffer hypertension(extremely high blood pressure) from all the salty tears that I'm consuming. What were you whiners expecting? Fuu-Jin? Sareena? LMAO! don't flatter yourselves! they both suck! especially Sareena! Just the name alone irritates me. Lia Montelongo couldn't do justice to the train-wreck disaster that is Blandeena I hope Carlos Pesina is armed to the teeth in order to defend himself from all of this hate that his character is receiving.

& as far as the trailer goes, I guess I will have to swallow my pride & upgrade to the quad.

Nice. His teleportation variation looks really cool. His X-Ray and fatality are okay. Never been a fan of his. Who is next? I want so badly to see a new or old female fighter!
