No Character Biographies for Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

Recently there have been rumours going around that there were in fact character biographies in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, but that for creative reasons they were not included in the final game. These rumours also stated there might be a chance said bios could make it onto the official site should fan interest be strong enough. To get a definitive answer on the subject, we contacted our sources at Midway and asked what they could tell us on the subject. Unfortunately, the word from our Midway sources is that there are no existing biographies for characters in MK: Armageddon. So, at this time, this should be considered an unfounded rumour.

Our thanks to our Midway sources who helped set the record straight on this issue.

Midway Releases New Videos and Versus Screen from MK: Armageddon!

While we all have been busy playing Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Midway has been releasing new materials on the official MK: Armageddon website and over on the Midway Boards! Over on the official site, four new videos have been added. The first video, "Eclipse of Evil", is the MK: Armageddon TV commercial originally seen on IGN. The second video, "MKA Konquest Supermoves", gives in-game demonstration of Taven's three special moves in Konquest mode. The third video, "MKA Konquest Challenges", shows some of the obstacles Taven will have to navigate on his quest (and the gruesome results should he fail to pass them successfully). The fourth video, "MKA Konquest Environments", shows some of the areas Taven will have to navigate on his quest.

To see all four videos, click here, and click on Video. Note that "Eclipse of Evil" will begin playing as soon as the page loads.

Meanwhile, over on the Midway Boards, Cinder has posted a new versus screen! This particular versus screen is another one showing Taven about to face off against his brother Daegon; the main difference between this one and the previous versus screen showing the brothers is the fact that Taven is wearing a different costume.

Cinder Confirms: MKA To Be Compatible With XBox 360!

Cinder, from the official Midway Boards, has confirmed that the recently released Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will be compatible with Microsoft's XBox 360! Whether or not the petition set up by this and multiple fansites was the cause will remain unknown, however it is a nice thought to imagine the MK community's voice was heard by such a large company.

As of this writing, the petition's purpose has been fully completed. With Mortal Kombat: Deception's addition to the backwards compatibility list less than two months ago, this announcement fulfills the hopes of every person who signed the petition during June and July. To view it again, click here.

Once the game has been officially announced by Microsoft, its name will appear on the XBox 360 backwards compatibility list. Click here to view the page. For Cinder's thread, click here. Please note the game is not yet compatible, but will be in the near future.

Thanks to forum members and for noticing this huge announcement!

Three Different Video Reviews of MK: Armageddon Released!

Over the past 24 hours, three different sites have posted video reviews for the newly-released Mortal Kombat: Armageddon! The first of these three comes from GameTrailers, which goes into an in-depth review of the game. Overall, the review of the game is positive; while the reviewer didn't care TOO much for Motor Kombat (referring to it as a "watered-down version of a better game") or the Kreate-a-Fatality system, he did really appreciate the Kreate-a-Fighter mode. In addition, he seemed to like the additions to the fighting engine, calling the final experience "nicely tweaked", and calling the game a fitting way to turn the page on the MK franchise. All in all, he gave the game a score of 8.6 out of 10.

The video is available in both Windows Media and Apple Quicktime format. To watch the review, click here and scroll down to Reviews.

In addition, IGN and GameSpot have posted their own video reviews. Their video reviews are more or less identical to their print reviews, and are in fact given by the same reviewers as the print ones. The main addition to these reviews is the addition of in-game footage, much of it seen in previously released videos.
