Midway Games has announced that they are preparing to release their official financial results for the 2003 fiscal fourth quarter on Wednesday February 25.

Midway will host a conference call and will simultaneous webcast the announcement at 4:45 eastern standard time. Both are open to the general public.

An anonymous source recently sent us the following image, and our sources within Midway have confirmed that this is in fact an image of Baraka from Mortal Kombat 6/Deception! This is the first confirmed render from the new game released to the public.

PSM Magazine has announced that their April 2004 issue will feature a look at a game under development that they cannot name until the actual issue ships. From their website:

So, in short, there is a very real reason to get psyched for the April '04 issue of PSM, on sale or in your mailbox in late March. I promise.

We have learned from a reliable anonymous source that this game is none other than Midway's Mortal Kombat 6/Deception. The issue will be out in late March 2004; we will report further on PSM's coverage as it becomes available!

Midway Games has now acquired the web addresses mkdeception.com and mortalkombatdeception.com as of February 6th. They are currently directing to the company website. Though an official announcement has yet been made, this should put all suspicions behind that Mortal Kombat: Deception is not the title for the next installment of the series; continuing its trend of using sub-titles in the name. We have reasons to believe that the official announcement will be made very soon, and if that's the case you will hear it here first. Blood-Sports.net, a site dedicated to all kinds of fighting games, has released a new feature article entitled "The 20 Best Fighting Games of All Time", including more than one entry by the Mortal Kombat series! From the article:

This was originally going to become a “top 10 best fighting games of all timeâ€?, but as we were compiling this list, it became very obvious that it wouldn’t be that cut and dry. There have been so many good fighting games released over the years, especially since the early 90’s, that compiling a top 10 list was just impossible. So, we present to you, the top 20 fighting games of all time. Yes. 20.

What did we consider when creating this list? We needed to consider many factors:

• Whether the game brought anything new to the genre (and did it well)
• Whether it refined previous concepts to perfection
• It’s popularity, based on sales or money spent at the arcades
• What the fans say about it, from our own forums to what other sites and magazines say about it

As you can see, it definitely wasn’t an easy task. This was a very hard list to actually sort out in any particular order, in fact some games are so close together they could almost be tied for positions.
