Pocket IGN has updated with their hands-on preview of the final version of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for the Game Boy Advance! Their preview was mostly positive, often to their own surprise. From the article:
Midway's Mortal Kombat series hasn't exactly had a flawless track record on handheld systems. One might even say there hasn't been a decent version of that series on any handheld system. The last time the game made its way to the portable market was Midway's Mortal Kombat Advance, an absolutely horrible recreation of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the Game Boy Advance. After that debacle, some fans of the series may never trust another version of Mortal Kombat on the GBA. That, friends, would be a mistake: Midway today sent over the final build of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for the Game Boy Advance, and after putting a good couple of hours into the bloody bout, I'm comfortable in saying that Midway put the right team on this project. The article goes into detail, talking about the controls, game engine, graphics, and features such as player profiles.
