Okay, first off...does MKDA take place solely in Outworld? I ask because according to the FMV intro movie, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi used the portal to travel to Earthrealm, where they fought Liu Kang, apparently at Wu Shi Academy. However, if Wu Shi Academy is in Earthrealm, then how can, say, Cyrax and Kenshi fight there? They're stranded in Outworld, so storywise, it just doesn't make sense. But if Wu Shi Academy is in Outworld, why would the intro movie say the sorcerers went to Earthrealm?
Second, the Dragon King's army. In the Krypt, I unlocked something that said Shang Tsung's Palace was not only the Deadly Alliance's base of operations, but also used to hold th eDragon King's army. However, in the game Tsung's palace is empty, and the mummified army is housed in the Lost Tomb stage. What's up with that?
Finally, Reptile's Crab fighting style. I was doing a little research on fighting styles and, more specifically, just what Shaolin was, and found that the Crab style of kung fu did, in fact, exist, but is considered a "dead" style. Apparently it was a subsystem of the Tiger style. Anyway, this contradicts the game, which states that Crab style was developed by Reptile's ancestors, suggesting that, like Drahmin's Netherealm and Oni styles, it is a fictional stance. Then again, they may have just lied about the origin, kinda like how in Kano's Konquest mode it says the guy who invented Aikido was the founder of the Black Dragon, which I found months ago to be a ridiculous, almost slanderous statement.
If anyone can help clarify these things, I'd appreciate it.

I think if the game played out like a film or story they wouldn't be fighting in those locations but since it's a game it's just considered another background. kinda like, why are they fighting in hell in UMK3.

another way of storytelling really. Your're seeing where quan chi came outta the portal. I'm sure in the games storytelling they WOULD be gone.

The mk team is trying to make it seem as tho some martial arts come from outworld or other realms. that it was martial arts masters visited our realm and taught us. It's fiction, just gotta remember that.

True, very true...but still, MKDA has an extremely complicated storyline, so you'd think Vogel (as he wrote most of the story) would have patched up these plot holes...

The game itself and the story are in a way separate from each other. I mean, does Blaze fight someone, beat them, and then go swim through the ocean to another island to fight someone else, and so on?
Well, that's not exactly what you were talking about, but in a way this is similar. Also think about Scorpion's ending. How can he get thrown into the soulnado if he just beat Tsung and Chi?

lol very funny. Though this game has some serius logical problems... like.. for example... why a princess (Kitana) is wearing a mask????????

I actually think the idea of having Kitana with a mask is exelent. Is very good and gievs her one original point. She looks a lot better with it, it gives her that misterious look....

There are three rules for doing scientific research. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.

The mask may just be a matter of style or preference. You could ask, for instance, why Hsu Hao's heart implant has this complicated shoulder attachment? 'Cause he thinks it looks cool :).

lol yeah I know... But if you think of it. Kitana wearing a mask would be something like if Princess Diana wore a mask... I mean what is Kitana hidding?? I mean... Her mask had sence back in MKII when she was supposed to be an assasin... But now... Well... That's the way I see it.. I'm not saying it's good or bad...
P.S. Michael jackson's mask really DOES have a reason... see what I'm talking about?? lol

That reminds me of something else I was thinking about: becasue MK wasn't fighting style oriented in the beginning, the styles of some characters don't always fit that well. Let's take Street Fighter as a basis for comparison: most of those characters were built with their fighting style in mind. Could you picture Ryu using wrestling? But also, everyone in Street fighter is from Earth. The whole realm thing seems to have become a problem, now that fighting styles are introduced. If Outworld could win 9 tournaments in a row, wouldn't you expect them to have their own styles, rather than just knowledge of ours? But if all the Outworld warriors had fictional styles, that would detract from the credibility of the game. If they'd said things like "legend has it crab/kama/jujutsu etc were brought from Outworld to Earthrealm" or "many believe etc..." now that would have been better than claiming their historical distortions as fact. Or at least put some kind of disclaimer, saying that not all styles are perfect adaptations from reality, and their histories in the game were occaisionally changed for story purposes.

On the subject of fighting styles...it says in the game's character Bio's that it's rumoured that Bo' Rai Cho brought the art of Drunken Boxing to Earthrealm, which we all know is a pile of crap as Bo is a fictional character :P

Drahmin and Moloch threw SCorpion into the "soulnado", not Shang and Quan Chi.

Yeah that is exactly his point, he's asuming that when he gets to end a game with a certain character, that means that character has beated shang tsung and quan chi... that's what I think he's talking about

Yeah, but then again, Kitana is from Outworld. Wearing a mask makes her look imponent, important and powerfull. I mean, superior then the rest.
I hope they keep it, really. Thats one of the reasons, i like Kitana. I was sad they threw away her fan throw.
