What i want to know is why did they censor Classic Sub-zero's fatality?(the fatality when the screen goes black)What was so graphic about it?My therory about the fatality is this:The fatality was never finish.some say it was sub-zero's spine rip, some say sub-zero twists the opponets neck, torso and legs.what do you think about this fatality?-DF

Because they didn't feel like doing the extra graphic work for it.

Mdway didnt want to get into trouble with all the cry baby parents about Sub-Zeros Spine Rip Fatality like they did in MK1. So they just show him grabbing his opponents head then the screen goes black.

it's because Midway was too lazy to make the extra graphics/animation for it. They'd have to have new animations of every single character getting their spine ripped out. Which is also why Johnny Cage doesn't have the nut punch in MKT (because the MK3 characters didn't have the nut punch reaction animation, and Boon didn't want to make new animations).

sub doesnt do anything at all. if you enter a cheat and enable pause, do the fatakity and pause it. brighten the color on your tv and you can see that nothing happens. he "grabs" the opponent and thats about it. if you pause it when it says "fatality" you can see the word on the screen.

Its not censorship or fear of angering parents. I really think its just the lack of useable frames and an unwillingness to create new frames. In Mk1 and MK2 Sub held up his opponents head afterwards, but that was just the standard ninja arm in the air victory stance with the head attached. The frames of the actual head rip are just standard ninja uppercut frames. The head decapitated is just the head removed as it is by so many other fatalities. All of the necessary elements are in UMK3 and Trilogy and could have been used. The only thing missing was the little dangling spine. Thats all they needed to make it happen. That, to me, is laziness to a T.

did you not read the replies Scorpio? The black out is there because midway didn't make a spinal rip animation for every character.
but ur right... I once brightend my screen and Sub doesn't do anything. Kinda funny.

the same thing happens on the n64 (and ss) with mkt. scorpions fatality..where all the "clones" jump up on the screen, then the screen goes black.
it wasnt due to lazyness, they were made that way to add some element of mystery. when the screen goes black (and you seen it for the 1st time) you thought "wtf?? what happened? what did he do?"
