Most unfortunate.
Its really a shame that Nintendo never got the gameplay as close as other companies. MK3 and UMK3 for SNES the gameplay is more off then the counterparts for Genesis, and then MKT for N64 is WAY off compared to PSX. I wonder why that keeps happening.
Was MK4 for N64 close to arcade as far as gameplay? Is there anyone on this message board that would know? I know the focus isn't usually on the gameplay here and MK4 didn't have very good gameplay so it seems like it'd be the hardest to find an expert for.

Hey look I discovered a new hidden character in MK1!
Puke!
Whoops, my bad. That's just how bad Genesis was.

As far as I've ever seen MK4 N64 plays like the arcade, but there could be some differences at very high level of play.
Sega CD MK1 is like Genesis but with the arcade soundtrack/sound effects, a few added details in the stages and lots and lots of load time.

PC version.
Same as the original.
Same goes for the MK2 and MK3 but not MK4 that had some minor changes and the horrible shadows :|

MK4 for the PC had about 1/100th the number of polygons as the arcade did which led to the disasterously bad graphics.

I finally got mat2 im disappointed with the flickering shadows rather then that its alright but no where as good as mame its a shame midway are drunks.
I don't understand why you are insulting the PSX version. The loading is extremely fast, smooth animation without a single missing frame. You say that the music is bad, but it's CD quality, exactly the same as the arcade but it has even better stereo.
Personally I think that you have your epsxe set up with bad plugins, because for me the PSX version is at least 98% arcade perfect.
The midi music on SNES sounds extremely fake. To see what I mean, put your MK Trilogy PSX cd in a music cd player and listen to the music from the MK2 levels. Then, play the snes game. You will notice that the music in SNES is not even 10% similair to the real thing. The snes version keeps the same rythym, but barely. It's a very good port though, but it was good because back then that was all we had. Another comparison to the music was how in The Armory, there were screams of pain made into the beat of the music, which was of course cut from the snes version.
Furthermore, the SNES versions characters were cut down to be much smaller in order for them to fit in memory, with frames of animation cut, also to save memory. The whole game seemed force.
Again, the SNES version was the best port back when it was the only halfway decent one we had, but truthfully compared to today's standards it falls behind quite a bit.

What do you mean by configuration? Do you mean CPU specs, or MAME internal options?

I really don't like PSX version and some sound effects from arcade. You're right, MK 2 music from Arcade is superb and SNES have some exclusive midi musics, they are good in fact, and the sound effects are the best and I am not comparing SNES and arcade hardware.
Please read my post and try to understand my point of view.
PSX version is very easy, Arcade is HARD (you may not choose medium or hard difficulty for PSX and easy / very easy difficulty for arcade).
SNES don't have this problem.
There are a lot of minor differences and in near future I will post all of them.

When I am referring to Mame settings, I am referring to optimizing Mame to run at a good frame rate. Settings inside its preferences window, or maybe just an all around fast Mame version.
Percebe, I mean no offense to you. I just don't feel that the Snes version was all that great. The Midway Arcade Treasures and PSX version are much better, and I am not going on an on about my opionion, I am saying this as fact, judging by all the stuff cut from the snes version.
And by the way, you can increase the difficulty in the PSX version.

MK1=Genesis...but the controller is crap for MK(SNES much better)
MK2=Definitely the the SNES,it was a perfect conversion from the arcade, gameplay wise and fatality and blood wise. The sound was sligtly off but dam close. The Genesis version blowed completely.
MK3=SNES and PS/PC too(although i cant see playing a game like mk on the PC)
UMK3=SNES and PS1
MK4=Hands down the N64 over the PS....i played both the N64 version is way way way better than the PS version any day of the week!!!!!!!Anyone who actually thinks the MK4 version is better on the PS is a crack head and should be slapped.Pc version of MK4 was good too,if you can buy a good controller for it.

Let's make it simple. I'm not counting MAT2, because it's based on the Arcade hits! We're discussing console versions here.
Best
------
MK1- Genesis- Fast and bloody
MK2- Snes- Nice graphics and all sounds
MK3-Snes- The only best console version, next best thing to the arcade, otherwise PSX
UMK3- Saturn- The only best console version, next best thing to the arcade
MK4- Dreamcast (MK Gold)- Pure arcade port, probably smoother graphics, no loading at all
Yughhhh- Worst
----------------------
MK1- Sega CD- Just a crappy Genesis software with a few loud arcade tracks? Lol.
MK2- Genesis- Not a serious release. I guess MK2 and later were too big to squeeze on poor 16-bit genesis.
MK3- Genesis- Need I say more?
UMK3- Genesis- (Look at MK3- Genesis)
MK4- N64- Boxy graphics, poor sound effects

I just disagree with you about MK4 on N64....i thought it was much better than the PS.....but i dont have any sega systems now so i forgot about the sweet version for the Dreamcast MK4/MKGOLD.
I should get gold.

Wow, you were actually able to stand that long on Genesis? I'd be color blind after fighting Kintaro.

You might have also been fooled into thinking you were color blind when the select screen came on, in fact, a person who actually is color blind might not be able to make out who the characters are.
