I liked MK2 the best. I thought MKDA might take its place when I first heard about it, but it just isn't as fun for me as MK2 was. In my opinion MK2 was a perfect game for its time, and even to this day with the standards for video games and graphics raised so much, it is still really good. It had a great lineup of characters, decent gameplay for its time, great fatalities and stage fatalities, and great secrets. If they remade it for the next generation systems, I would definately buy it.

Well I really like MK2 and I have it for the SNES. Though, the music and sound fx on the Genesis version were much better. I really liked the fact that the first two MK games had a mix of asian mythology and supernatural elements. MK1 and MK2 had great gameplay, graphics, characters, music, storyline, and secrets. That's why I want MK to go back into that direction. Now comparing between MK1 and MK2, MK1 had stuff like the endurance matches which MK2 didn't have unfortunately. However, MK2 had more characters, more hidden characters, more finishers, and on the SNES and perhaps other versions, pics in the endings. Of course I found MK2 to be a lot harder and more challenging than MK1 which is a positive for me. MK:DA has great gameplay and all of that and I'm proud that they evolved the gameplay a lot, but it didn't really have that mythological and mysterious essence like in the first two MK games. I will have to say that MK2 is my favorite MK game because it improves on almost everything (except for there not being endurance matches) from MK1.

2 is way better than the rest, johnny is just so great in it, and that kintaro fatality. They should put a copy of MK2 onto MK6 as a sort of bonus thing.

MKII still the best. Even MK6 will not top it, maybe MK7.

They are still too much in the child's shoes with 3D. When the characters look like real humans, then it has the chance to surpass MKII.

They just haven't reached the same level of being topnotch with 3D like they had with 2D. They just aren't there yet.

And about gameplay, MKDA is too much playing with the hands then with the mind. OFCOURSE you use your mind a lot with MKDA, but the controls just limits it.

With MKII and one, sometimes you just beat the crap out of someone, not even knowing you were fighting. Power of subconsiousness. This you will not find in MKDA.

Only in pure games like MKII and Quake3. Simplicity of controls makes a game more 1337 to play.

In terms of fighting experience, yes. But in terms of ambience, no.

LOL, Ive read U said that BILLIONS of times in this forum. Its true, the Chinese mystical, magical, sence, ambience that the game had in Mk1 and Mk2 was the best. BUt seeing the "Wu Shi Academy", the "Stungs Palace" and many others just remaind U of that feeling.

Also the Mk1 and Mk2 music had that ambience U jkeep talking about. But overall, MKDA is the best Mk game there is....yet, lets hope Mk6 turns out to bee better!

MKDA misses MK essientsials. Like the uppercut and roundhouses, plus the flying that comes with it. MKDA has no MK feeling at all, unless you perform a spear and such. It may be competitive, but it's not as pure as the first two MK's. The fighting system doesn't reflect MK. It's more like DOA or Tekken, of which the latter sux very hard. There are just some essentiels that you can't leave out when making an MK game. I'm not saying MKDA is bad, but I won't say it's MK either.

HMMmmm....Hmmmmm...mmm.. I've seen ur style before!
Mk2 is the best version of mortal kombat series, its too bad that boon-tobias cracked under the midway higher powers to push so many shitty verison out, so they can just get paid! It seems to me that when a company gets a winner they wanna fuck it up, lets see mk,a start mk2,good umk3 sucked, mk4 horrible, mk5 built in combos and a rip off of tekken. I thought maybe they should have followed capcoms lead lets see, street fighter, sfturbo, sf2, etc on ..and on..mk 2 was good game of chess, the game had all defined moves so if two pro players where playing each other the one who would lose whould make the last mistake...also midway fucked up killer instinct here goes another great series destoryed...ATTENTION... you have to make gradule changes so can build a fan base "dumb asses" mk 3 should have been a refined verison of mk2 add two chars +/- for others that simple. I bet if they came out with a new mk series they should go back to the old engine, update it and call it mk klassic

If they keeped the old fighting system it would just be like an nicer looking 2D MK... HEY!!! MK4 ANYONE??? wink I really think MKDA has completely evolved the genre, however, of course I love MKII, I mean, I guess it's just youth sentimental, but quite honest, I have more fun playing MKDA the I've playing MKII...

Definately. I remember a couple of my buddies in Middle School did a science project comparining Mk2 on SNES to MK2 on Genesis. I have no idea how they got away with it, but it was hilarious. I mean the Genesis version is REALLY BAD. Even in MK1 they cut so many corners. Especially Goro's layer, it was horrible how they redid it entirely because they couldnt do the real version good. And the sound effects and music were so terrible on the Genesis version. I still start them up in emulators now and then to hear the difference. It is unbelieveable.

MK2 for SNES is what made me love MK. AFter I played that I went back and Played MK1, both on SNES and in the arcade. I was a little let down when MK3 came out because it didn't have the look and sound of MK, but I ended up liking MK3 and UMK3 more because of the much faster gameplay and the combo system.

But still, MK2 was my gateway drug into fighting games in general. Its graphics were the reason why I disdained the Street Fighter series as well as all SNK games for so long.

Truely an inspired creation.

In Trilogy I wanted MK, MK2 & MK3 all one one disc.....BUT as seperate bloddy games....all we got was UMK3 with MK2 backgrounds and constant loading probs....what a rush job :(

MK2 was the one that truly took my soul and that will always remain....but Deadly Alliance gave the series a much needed boost.....I like them all! :)

MK4 wasn't bad. I liked the gameplay VERY much. The graphics were just horrible, and the game speed could be 70%/80%, not that it's too fast for me, but it just looks better more slowly.
As for the sucky graphics, MK4 was very complete.

I still have more fun playing MKII over MKDA. Now that I play online, numerous doors are opening. I've got to relearn shit as there are new rules with the gameplay, when you're competing 1337 players. Go online, and notice you haven't seen shit from MKII. The latter is ofcourse soley for the ones who haven't competed at high level.

MKII is the best... After playing MK I you get interested in this fighting game and beat the hell out of your siblings or friends, then, this newer shineir version of this shiny,( i am easily atracted by shiny things...)bloody,time stealing, game comes out and its way better than the first you go out and buy it.

Then a third comes out, but you dont get the same thrill you got when you first played MK II, because after that you knew they were making games look better and sound better...So it's not much of a surprise if they have 3d playing, it's coooler, but no surprise.

It was the surprise that makes MK II the best, maybe it doesn't have the best graphics, or the best sound FX,(which are still better than the Sega version) but it surprised you that a game this good barely came out. You love em all, but nothing gives you that gleam in your eye(besides maybe a a shiny object...::drools and looks retarded::)like the first time you saw/played MK II!
