Do you think that MK:DA was too cartoonish?

I don't know if it's just me, but, I thought that MK:DA contained some rather silly elements. The power up, the reversal, the gravity defying blood, some of the fatalities (especially Quan Chi's--???). Now, I am a big MK fan, but, this game was so silly looking, I just could'nt take it seriously, at all--I got rid of it, after a few weeks (which is very unlike me). I'm not the only one...I've met other gamers who said that they played the game one time, and, it's now sitting on thier shelves collecting dust.

Don't get me wrong, thier were a lot of cool/original factors about MK:DA. But, to me, thier was'nt enough there, to save the game. I REALLY REALLY hope that they don't make a lot of the mistakes that they made, with MK:DA, in the coming MK6, because, I don't plan on getting rid of anymore videogames.

Not really, it was more animated then cartoonish, if that makes sense to you. People see it as cartoonish becasue it is the first 3d attempt, you know? Its like in youre computer class if you insert a 2d pic, there is nothing cartoonish about it, but youre first attempt at a more "3D" pic, well, i'll bet you itll turn cartoonish very quickly, my mom is like a 3d engineer for houses, when I first at saw her first 3d house, I was like man thats cartoonish. But the later fountains and all that were not that bad.

God, yes!
Only the graphics to me seemed somewhat cartoonish, but not too cartoonish, though I do hope it looks better for MK6.

But gravity defying blood? Come on, lol. When has the blood ever been realistic in MK?

Well I guess the graphics are more cartoonish than they were in previous MKs, but then you have to remember, they didn't use digitized actors for MKDA like they did before. To my understanding, it's either extremely difficult to digitize actors for a 3D game, or it's just hard to implement well. I don't fully understand all the technicalities of it, but again, since it's their first real attempt at 3D, they deserve some leeway.

If the game were completely static, no. However, some of the animation lends itself to a "cartoonish" nature. Not a significant amount, however, but it's still there.

Overall, I loved the artistic style of DA, aside from some animation quams I have.

I thought it was not dark enough and the characters and stages all look like they belong on teletobbies.

yes i pretty much agree with you, it reminded me of the teletubbies as well :) heheh
the graphics werent all that, they were a little cartoonish, especially some of the characters... the designs, concepts and the ideas were beautiful, i really love the arena's, theyre very original but they need better graphics. id really love to see some of the arenas polished and put back into mk6....

some stuff were pretty stupid too which put the game down.... like some pretty stupid fatalities, as some1 else mentioned above, quan chi's fatality, some moves were pretty gay too....

i ask the developers not to make the same mistakes again, the graphics should be better than doa3... coz they dont look cartoonish, but the characters on that game were a bit too simple... like the game engine of doa3 is beautiful, if mk6 could have a nice engine like that, mk6 will be the perfect game out. and also they have to try to make the game look more realistic...

I thought many elements of the game were a very good balance of realism and fantasy!

Slightly "cartoonish" as you say, but also realistic.

I DO!!!!! When I first saw a screen shot I was SOOOOOOO dissapointed!! But what I saw were rendering ones... where sonya's head was like 5 times bigger, and so were Jax's arms... Still... It looks pretty cartoonish... actually... they look like exaggerate clay dolls...

i found it a little bit too "light and cartoonish" compared to the other games that seemed darker. But overall it was stilla great game with great re-playablity.

That's EXACTLY what I've always thought they looked like!

As for the arenas, someone was saying before, the arenas were very beutiful...very creative. It almost seems like the character models did'nt fit in with the realistic backgrounds, but, stages still do need some polishing, touching up, and detailing. The concepts were very original, but, they still need some work

EXACTLY, that was my problem. The game characters are too chunky, cartoony and unrealistic. Make them darker, gruesome and somewhat perverse.

The fatalities need to be reworked!
