i'm like, a huge fan of everything martial arts....well any kind of fighting hand to hand combat shit. i mean BRUCE LEE is my fuckin IDOL. i worship and adore him. i love db dbz dbgt(goku rulez!).

ok ok i'll get to the point!!!!

what i'm wondering is are all the fighting styles on mkda for really real? i've heard of alot of them...... but there are some that i have never heard of.

did they like, put in real shit and then add some fictional crap or is it ALL real shit?

bear in mind that i understand that you cannot steal someone's soul or shoot green skulls out of your hand or jump on someone's chest and suck their blood out......
i'm not that delusional....not yet anyway!

They are all real. Well, maybe most of them. But I think they are all real!

Oni and Netherealm don't exist. Crab is fiction, too. Snake, Crane, Judo and Aikido are a potpourri of a bit everything (real judo, for instance, doesn't involve punching and kicking!). I think the rest is real. Okay, and the Kori Blade doesn't exist either :p.

Crab is real, I remember reading about it somewhere. It's a strange martial art, but it IS real. Believe it or not Hung gar is also real (I'm pretty sure it's pronounced 'Hoon-gar', not 'Hun-gar').

All of Drahmin's styles (Oni, Netherrealm and Iron Club) aren't real (not the way Drahmin uses his Iron Club, anyway).

Kori Blade isn't real...BUT there's a very similar sword fighting technique.

Pulse Blade obviously isn't real, but Cyrax does use it similarly to a Straight Sword.

As VQ said, Snake, Crane, Judo and Aikido (Muay Thai can also fall into this category) have been changed just slightly. Not by very much though, they are mostly pretty close to their real versions. Ninjitsu is the opposite...it's lacking from it's real version. Real Ninjitsu involves much more kicking techniques.

Yup Crab is a real style. It is a form of Kung-Fu and is somewhat related to various other animal styles. i'm hopeing a few more obsure forms like this appear in the next one....like Sindel using Spider Fist.

Im not sure if Steel Fans is real (kitanas weapons).

But from what Ive seen the styles (the real ones) are all almost 100% true to the real fighting styles. I actually just read some articule of Kenpo that is being thaught here and many of the pics and descriptions of the style are the way Sonya does. I used to do Tae Kwon Do and it had a lot of the things she does.

Xing yi differs though from what it is in reality. I know someone who studies Chinese at my uni and got hold of a xing yi handbook. Some moves are the same but Kano's variant is very un-xing yi in terms of agressiveness. There are more styles that they have molded this way, as I noted before.

I'm surprised that crab really exists! But it's good to know ;).
