Mine was the MK1 Arcade in the early days when we had some arcades here. I got beat by my cousin who was ripping me appart with every character , I clearly remembered him doing me the Kano Fatality, I couldn't believe what I saw!
Anyway, I forgot the name of the game, and never played again. Later on I saw some guy playing MK2 and I reconized it. And since than I got crazy about MK...
I'm honestly sorry, if there is\was a thread like this before.

UMK3
For me it was MK1 in my school , but game was deleted after someone show all fatalities to some teacher... i was impressed by digital graphics it was really nice , the game have a real soul , and in MK2 ,3 etc they forget about some important things , like test your might or when you fighting against goro hen he jumps after fight so there was a little surprise , its not a big thing but its nice add on to the game , they just put more special moves and dont care too much about MK feel , the tournament feel and in MKs after MK1 there was just choose ,fight , choose ,choose ,fight ,choose ,fight ,choose ,fight , chooooooose... sleep.
MK1 is definitely my favourite but when we talk about gamplay then nothing can compare with UMK3 gameplay.
Im sentimental , maybe thats why i like MK1 so much...

Well I played the Original Mortal Kombat a few times at a relatives house. I thought it was ok, nothing special.
But it was Mortal KOmbat 2 on Sega Mega Drive tha made me fall in love with the series. I've been a huge fan ever since. Tho, I must say, Deception was a real let down for me. But thats just me. Cant wait For Shaolin Monks and MK7.

Arcade MK1 on a field trip. Don't remember what happened between then and me getting it on the Amiga - but I musta been impressed enough to go out and get it...
MK actually got me back into video games after the fall. I missed Nintendo(cept for Mike Tysons Punchout) for the most part and nothing impressed me till the 16 bit age.
Saw the Arcade at a pizza joint and I remember seeing a guy going into a pit for the first time....I remember the guy saying "gotta love those X-rated video games...and all his friends are chuckling away.
I went there while people were in school(I *cough* am a little older) and played forever. Had Sub-Zero down cold.
Now here is the kicker. I wasted so much money trying to get past Goro and figured out it was the ol Jump kicks that would take him out. Then BAM the first time I beat him...Shang went down too. What a dissapointment!!! Though I was excited, it really was not contest.
Another thing I remember is the fact that I could get double flawless all the time on the pit, but I would always knock him off because I liked watching the upercut. For the longest time I refused to use anyone but Sub and to this day he is my favorite.
Anyway, one day I read about Reptile(this was when the gaming magazines had just caught on), and I was mildly surprised. At this point I was still learning the game and I remember seeing the shadows, but never went crazy trying either. I do remember saying to a guy that was there that Reptile existed. He said I was lying...but I told him anyway like a dumbass. Later on I found out that he was the "first" to know about him. MotherF*cker. People really are shady.
Love the Arcade, and have been hooked every since.
Lastly of note, I remember another huge dissapointment. Now mind you I had never seen many translations to Nintendo and I didn't know much about computers. I remember my C64 having very good traslations of games so I expected a decent one. Boy was I surprised when I saw MK on the Genesis! That game looked so bad, I returned it the same night! Now this was back when stores would take it back, but then I rebought it after the crazy finally kicked off for the home versions. It always left a bad taste in my mouth, but it had to do for the time being till I got a decent 486. MK on the PC was a great improvement, but still not perfect(Liu Kang's scream was SORRRRRYYYY). Little did I know after so many Doom's and Nintendo 64's that there would be another shot at seeing the arcade classic again. A 4 letter abbreviation is true heaven.
MK FOREVER!
