How sad is it that it took 13 years to perfectly emulate MK2?

What's even sadder is they still don't get people who actually know how to play the game do demos.

Third!! lol, ehh MK2 is a great game but I doubt it'll be better then the 360 version of UMK3 personally.For the emulation gig, you realize that they've been concerned with future MK's as oppose to past MK's right?Look at UMK3, they fixed and added new stuff for the 360 in no time.

Also bought a UMK3 jamma board. X360 version looks pretty bad to the original. Maybe 'cause it's up-sampled to HD? Dunno...

all it says is ready and dont even play. -edit nvm that Its seems to have even better music than the arcade (like UMK3)

Not to be a jerk, Legend, but how is the system crap? I've got one myself and it does everything I want it to do and then some. If you're talking about game selection, then I can kind of agree.

As far as I'm concerned, if it plays my games fine, I could care less.

How is the PS3 crap? You sound very immature for saying that. You're probably a kid anyways. You even said PS2 is "utter crap" in your profile. I will get a PS3 when the price drops and I can't wait for Tekken 6, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 5, and especially MK2 with online play! MK2 is easily the best MK game. Guys you don't want to face me in MK2 online! I'm sure I'm the best MK2 player in the world.

It's just one's opinion. Though I'm not a 360 fanboy, RE5, VF5 and possibly Tekken 6 are coming to 360. Not to mention GTA4. And if Konami does release Tekken 6 on 360, that opens the door to MGS4 as well. And you might want to take a look at this article. Of course, graphics aren't everything. Certainly not to me. But I am fond of frame rate. Anyway, everyone has their opinions. Attacking people who express theirs with fanboyism only fuels console wars. It's not worth it.
As for MK2, I wish this would come out on XBLA along with MK1. Apparently M$ isn't very smart. They release a lot of old games on XBLA to begin with: Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Defender, etc. Most of which these teeny boppers have never heard of. Why no MK or MK2 is beyond me. It'd be a smart move though. Especially when MK is known to 12 year olds of today and MK2 is considered the pinnacle of the series.

MK2 is the pinnacle of fatalities and arguably character design and story. But none of these things really stand up to new games. Gameplay is what gets a game attention, and MK2 is definately not the pinnacle of MK gameplay. That honor falls squarely on UMK3.

FYI, Tekken is made by Namco, which only makes the Tekken series for Sony. Hideo Kojima states that Metal Gear Solid 4 will remain only a PS series. That article is written by 2 x-Box fans, obiviously one sided. The systems specs of PS3 and X-360 are closely identicle, but the PS3 has blu-ray discs which can store much more than the X-360. For that legend kid to say the PS3 is "uter crap" is beyond me.

I'm happy that MK2 us going online. UMK3 is so corney, had too many ninjas, goofy fats, horrible music, etc. I did however like the stages. MK2 is just the best in the series and I can't wait to beat you guyys around when ever I get a PS3 probably late this year or next year.

Yes MK2 had the perfect storyline, gameplay, fats, specials, stages, music,etc. UMK3 had: ninjas, ninjas, ninjas, oh yeah more ninjas. The gameplay and music sucked so bad.

1. price - why would you spend 600 bucks on this when you can have as much fun with a cheaper console?
2. overheats even worst then the 360 (dont make me show THE pic) Which also means it would freeze more then the 360 (according to a topic posted here)
3. Not as many good games as the other systems (some are good though)
4. the PS3 dont contain as many features as the other systems do
5. Sony pretty much copied some of the other consoles unique features and put it on there consoles.

The always forget to mention the huge return rate of the 360 and the fact
it is as expensive when all the extra's are thrown in.

I love my 360 dont get me wrong its just no where near what the fanboys
make you think.

Don't forget that once MK3 was made, MKII story line no longer mattered since MKII was a fake tournament set up by Shao Kahn in effort to take over the Earth Realm. The very thing you complained about when it comes to UMK3, is the EXACT thing every MKII fan wanted. Playable hiddens from MKII, plus all the other ninjas, oh yeah and not to mentioned a whole new roster and look for all the characters with furthered storyline.

MKII's gameplay was far FAR far from perfect, even UMK3's isn't perfect but it's much closer to perfect than MKII. Everything from pace, on the fly options, control, juggling, balance, damage is more playable and better in UMK3. Did the gameplay suck because YOU sucked? Because that's a different story. Also the backgrounds are 3D rendered making them measurably higher quality than MKII. Anything else you want me to cover?

How can anyone suckin MK? It is a simple game with simple concepts. Even now the gameplay is so simple compared to other fighters such as Tekken or Virtua Fighter.

mk2/umk3 debate
liu kangs fireball- in mk2- awesome, in mk3/umk3- garbage. Had a super long tail and it could be almost half way across the screen and still get cancelled out....

PS3 sucks because its only made to expand Sony's market and has no intention of offering a genuine gaming experience. Sony is already trying to make a 1600 dollar version of the PS3 which will be an "ultimate media center". Sony needs to wake up and realize no one WANTS an ultimate media center, they just want to play good games.

Blu-ray will die with Sony anyways because it's not a format that just anyone can make -- everyone will relie on Sony for it, and no one wants to give up that kind of production power.

XBOX 360 is good because Microsoft actually knows how to make a gaming machine and how to make games for it. Wii is also good because it offers something new (though it needs some decent games ... Ubisoft keeps porting crap to it.)

I'm getting MKA for my Wii and hoping for a good MK on the Virtual Console.
