coder Wrote: Garret, cmp eax,32h jne xxxx push 3F99999Ah call xxxx fstp st(0) add esp,4 jmp xxxx push 3F800000h call xxxx Above is a little disassembly fragment with the addresses x'd out because it was taken from the final release build of MKDA. If you can find this fragment in the .xbe file you can modify the speed that MKDA plays at. The push 3F99999Ah corresponds to 1.2 as a float and is the game's virtual clock speed in a PAL 50 hz mode (cmp eax,32h checks for PAL mode...) The push 3F800000h corresponds to 1.0 as a float and is the clock speed in NTSC mode. Set it to 0.5 to play at half speed or 1.5 to play 50% faster. Some stuff whacks out if you go too fast or slow but it is a total trip to play the game at varying speeds. Enjoy! |
Ahhh, I'm really sorry I didn't respond earlier to this. I have been occupied hacking Halo instead and haven't been to MK5.org since it started. I have located the file identifiers in the .ssf files (not a big deal) and generated some details from the default.xbe here: http://www.sinewaves.org/garret/mkda/info-clean.txt (I put x's in the key since I know I have Midway attention =) coder, if you're still reading this thread, I need help! I can't figure out how to access the files within the .ssf files. Are they compressed or what?
Edit: fixed the file, sorry.

I have been able to completely extract sounds/music from MK:DA's game disc. Also, following the wireframe hack, I was able to display the textures in "point" mode, where the intersection of textures made points. Unfortunately I don't have my capture card ready for shots, as I just restored my computer, but I will find out how to do so with my graphics card's VIVO port (yay for GeForce FX 5600).
that wireframe hack is cool. you are a fucking genius. willall this hacking ever be made widely available do you think? ie.some sort of `game genie` for the xbox? as i am new here, can anyone tell me what that final secret stuff is all about? and the `halo trainer`? i love halo, but it is shit for having no cheats.if there was a disk or somthing to give me some cool stuff i`d love to get one. or do i need to hack my xbox?

Well, I felt like I owed it to you guys to post here... I apologize for the lack of updates, but quite frankly, there isn't much of a place left for me to "hack" -- besides that I hate the game with a passion. I haven't even touched my Xbox since I got my Radeon 9800 Pro.
Although actually there is still room for me to hack, if I wasn't so anal about soldering my new modchip on my Xbox motherboard. I don't have a soldering pencil, and I've never worked with printed circuit board, so it would probably be better if I get a solderless option...
Some things I would reccomend to anyone willing to continue the project(?):
¤ Get a 512K modchip, flash it with a debug BIOS, get the XDK launcher, and play around with MK:DA. Anyone see the Making of MK:DA video? When the guy was spinning around a character and zooming in on them to see the details of the blood and bruise effects? The controller that was blurred out was an Xbox controller, and he was using the XDK to do that. If anything can go down the right hallway of MK:DA... that's it.
¤ Try figuring out the files within the .ssf texture/bitmap packs -- someone's bound to be able to get something out of those.
Some final thoughts:
I was able to find traces of "NFL Blitz" within the default.xbe, heh. Also, I purposefully left an error in my breakdown of the MK:DA save game file, hoping someone would correct me...
I'm sorry if I let you guys down, I simply don't have the time or drive to play with it anymore.

Thanks for all your attempts and time with it Garret. I was really getting into this thread. Oh well, shit happens. Good stuff anyways dude, hope to see your ambition rise again soon; seeing as how your potential defeats any means of mine.
