It's cool. I took a snapshot of the stage as well. Once I get home, I'll change it into a gif file and put it up.

That stage was in the N64 version of MKT. You could pick the level via the level select code acessable from the cheat menu. It isn't called the red portal stage when you pick it but it is selectable on MKT in the N64 version...I never played the PSX version so I don't know if it's in there but it probally is

I ran the SNES MK3 rom through my hex editor, and found all of the names of the stages. The portal stage that you refer to is actually named "THE VORTEX". (there are no other unknown stages, if you were wondering)

The N64 version calls it the "Hidden Portal".

i call it "the big swirly red thing background place"....
