Sorry to sound noobish, but for the 13 years of playing Mortal Kombat, I've never seen this particular kind.
It may very well be an edit, because that character is blocking and the person added an axe to his hand. If a fatality is being performed, the lights would've been out.

"Is it so important that you win one last argument with him?" "No, it is not, but it is true that I will miss the arguments; they were, finally, all that we had."

No, it isn't. It's one of the many MK fakes that were on an old MK site that apparently went kerplunk a while back, since I can't seem to find it anywhere. Sorta like the 'legendary' Acid Pool meathook fatality or the Living Forest tree snack fatality pics that were being circulated a while back.

I have been wondering that myself. The MAME info files mentions the red dragon fatal, and also something about Kung Lao pulling bones out of his hat. Normally I wouldn't give it a second thought, but since it's actually in the info file it has me wondering. I believe it says the same thing for the "4.3" and "9.1" hacks.

Those pictures are so fake lol. You could tell by the crappy paint job on the Sub-Zero versus Goro picture of Mortal Kombat 2. Also the fool who thought of tricking us has Kitana's name over Sub-Zero's life bar.

The Acid Bath meathook fatality thing isn't a fake. It's part of some of the hacks. I have version 9.something Eproms on my MK2 board, it makes the shadow moves always red, it makes uppercuts really fast and a few other things... including being able to do multiple uppercuts in the deadpool. You don't need to hold LK and LP, you just uppercut and you can keep moving and uppercutting and the guy will keep flopping around, and if you do a regular attack like a jumpkick, it'll leave the dead body floating in midair. That's how the meathook thing got started. If you kill them in the right spot it sort of looks like they're touching a meathook.
