Movies have their own storyline, but clearly they have some influence on programmers.

It's one of those things where it was a popular part of the movie so they just kinda randomly added it to the games for no real reason other than cause they thought it'd be cool.

You could maybe work damage control for Midway by saying it started because of the brief fight on the pit in the MK II comic but the truth is that it's just poor writing.

they don't. in the main franchize, mk1 to mka, excluding the spin off games, goro and johnny cage never have a grudge. why? it is really liu kang who defeats him in the real series. the fact that johnny cage defeated goro is a huge misconseption started by the movie. it is a non canon event to the games.

If it's any conselation, Goro is listed as one of Cage's foes on his Deception Virtual Trading Card (along with Shang Tsung and Movie Critics).

Uhm... Abot that... But if the champion of Mortal Kombat was Goro and not Shang Tsung... Why Liu Kang was become the Mortal Kombat champion?

Now, after the film and Shaolin Monks, we can say of Johnny have defeated him, so him must be the champion...

Both the movies and MK: Shaolin Monks are non-canon so they aren't part of the actual storyline.

Liu Kang was the one who defeated Goro, not Johnny Cage. The whole Johnny Cage/Goro rivalry thing was taken from the movies but never really developed in their actual stories.

i agree about liu kang killing goro and in the second movie kahn killed ermac but in the games he did not ok fopr example mk deception if you had read the bio of ermac it sayed that kahns general was ermac in the movie syndel was kahn killed ermac in the movie but he was never exposed to die he was leading kahns army in earth relm until kenshi showed up and removed kahns curse upon ermac to obey kahn and for ermacs gratitude he tought kenshi the ways of teckness so i most defently agree

I never said that Liu Kang killed Goro. Liu Kang simply defeated him. Shao Kahn didn't kill Ermac in MK: Annihilation. Either way, that doesn't matter as the storylines of the MK movies are not part of the actual story.

Btw, it's Sindel, and I think you mean telekinesis.

Canonically speaking they fought in first Mk in a three vs one fight:
Cage,Sonya & Kano vs Goro.That's canonical.
(for me Kano and Sonya had a secondary role in the fight).
For me,but this is also JUST a theory,Kano team up with Goro and that be a two on two fight against Cage vs Goro and Sonya vs kano.
After the earthquake Johnny Cage was resqued by Rayden and Sonya,Kano and Goro were captured and inprigionated by Kahn.
Maybe and i REPEAT maybe they fought against each other in MK4 but that's not sure.
And in Deception cage was enslaved by Onaga and Goro and Shao kahn try to kill him.
Maybe during the fight Shao kahn fought against kahn and Goro with other heroes including johnny Cage.
The fight was interupted by Ermac and liu kang that saved Cage and the others.Meanwhile Kahn and Goro beat to death onaga.
However not everuthing about Shaolin Monks is un-canonical,but something is canoncial luckly.
And don't forget how something uncanonical can become CANONICAL if like to Boon or Vogel.
