Killer combos for Subzero

rayrokka Wrote: CorrezZ Wrote: No doubt. Sub Zero is really a char you use cuz you like him, not a char you pick for and easy (or cheezy) victory. But yeah, I think Shotokan d+1 is also un-punishable, King's Crown (3,f+3) repels if it's blocked, me thinks far enough to block anything coming after that. I learned today that juggling from Kori Blade is fun, yet hard (not to mention not THAT rewarding). My main stance is still Dragon, even though I switch to Shotokan whenever there's an oppertunity for full string combo or a good juggle. And rayrokka, with that post I ment that it just sux to lose when your playing Sub pretty good against a noober who knows how to abuse Pi Gua Shove+Hellfire, or who knows Bo's infinate, just because Boon (there you go) programmed it to be that way. Scorpion was ment to be a low skill character that anyone can play.... Sub was meant to be a skill based character that more experienced and skilled players can play. thats why Scorp is difficulty one and Sub is 4... It is meant to be an uphill battle for Sub...believe me I wanted Sub to be the best but there are so many things that make a character good and bad. and if you are losing alot...guess what. YOU NEED MORE PRACTICE |
1. True, but was Scorpion meant to be broken and nearly unbeatable because of a glitch and the best mix up in the game? I don't think so.
2. Sub's difficulty is 5..lol
3. To me you should never make a character purposely have uphill battles. Especially with one of the most popular characters..if not THE most popular character in the franchise.
4. I never said I lose a lot. Im just saying some matches are downright impossible. You yourself said sub cant hang with the top 5 in the game Ray.
This is not to diss you or anything, im just pointing shit out. Im not trying to be a subby fan boy, I just want him to be toned up along with characters that are worse than he is like Kitana,Cyrax,Li Mei,etc. On the other end of the spectrum I want characters who are extremely broken toned down liek Scorp,Bo and Rep. To be frank i just want a balanced game.
But back to topic, I just noticed that Dragon u+4 seems to be safe, so 1,2,u+4's value gets increased ALOT. u+4 is also pretty hard to side step...
All in all, Sub has some pretty sweet moves, but just not enough to really be a danger to Bo, Scorp or even Sonya.
Btw. if you freeze someone in Dragon, can you quickly Powerup, CS, CS and land the full string before the opp unfreezes? If so, that's extremely dangerous right?
Edit: The MKDA's difficulty system is based on what? I think it's not really acurate. Reptile's diff. 5... like he's so hard to use...

1,2,u+4 is good against people who cant punish quickly, but since the delay before u+4 comes out it can be pretty ugly if interupted. u+4 by itself is good though, it does good damage, it's unsidesteppable and hit hits mid, and since lots of people expect 4,b+2 out of dragon it's a good mix up. However, the best mid to use in Dragon is probaby d+2. Sometimes 1,1,2 hits mid, but sometimes it hits high. Don't ask me why.
Yes, Sub's power up stuff is guaranteed off of a freeze. The best thing to do is Dragon: sm~cs~cs~side step~1,2,b+2,b+2,cs,1,2,cs for 41%. Why side step? Well the way the freeze/ice shaker leaves the opponent is a bit goofy. They are kinda bent back with their arms out, so if you try to attack them with 1,2,b+2 like more than not the 1 will whiff, doing less daamage. So quickly side step so it will hit from the side and nothing will whiff.
I think Reptile takes skill to play at high level the RIGHT WAY. Everyone can just use crab, but when you are facing someone good you need hung gar to get in the zone so to speak.
I've really gotta finish up my Sub-Zero FAQ. I think I can get it out by next sunday.
I'm looking forward to that. Anyway, I'm pretty confident using Sub now... I might just use him @ the tourney...
About the "weird freeze pose", yeah, with Sub it's really not that a biggie, even though that 4 or 5 percent just might be de difference between winning and losing. With Frost it's worse, she misses like 2 or 3 hits if you don't side step...

Hi all,
Vers and CoreZZ, I am also a Sub-Zero player. You guys seem to forget that ;). My main is usually the queen of cheese, Sonya, although I tend to avoid using TKD too much unless I'm in a tight spot and need to secure a quick and certain victory.
I've also found that combined with a PU, dragon 1,1,2... which eventually ends in the CS is his most damaging. A very mean, nasty combo in dragon is 4,b+2. Not particulary powerful but it blows the opponent away and is usually almost a guaranteed hitter as dragon 4 is quicker than most people expect.
CoreZZ, don't forget that you have to pick 10 warriors to fight with ;). I'm pretty certain as to my five first characters (Sonya, Shang Tsung, Mavado, Sub-Zero and Hsu Hao) but the last five can still change.
Cheers,
VQ

Vers and MKL, I bet you are both very good players. But nobody plays like a machine, everyone makes mistakes.
I consider myself a good Mavado player and I'm pretty confident that I can beat most Bo' players with him, but let's face it, at the level you play odds are very slim Bo' will lose against Mavado. Even if Bo's infinite is banned for that game, Mavado will be in a very, very tight spot. But it's an interesting challenge.
Cheers,

Ok then, take me on for half your prize money if you win. My bo vs your Mavado.
Also, you should go random through out the whole tourney. If you win that way no one can ever doubt you.

I don't really care if infinites or banned or not. Im not using infinite characters so oh well, but are you up for the challenge or not? Also, will you go random throughout the whole tourney?
