I loved the fact that they removed Liu Kang. They needed to re-establish the fact that ANYTHING can happen in the storyline. Hell, they should let one of the bad guys storylines come true just to create suspense for who will win the next one. I mean if Outworld was winning most of the tournaments before the first mortal kombat, show us some victories for the bad guys.

Mmmmmm, mmm...listen to the echo's listen to the echo's. Pretty much, just like the commercial rap You all are saying the same thing.

Im not going to voice much of a(n) opinion, cause most of you all wont care. But I think killing off Kang was a bad idea. Kang would've had the best fighting styles, and best moves. I mean, he's a Shaolin monk, whats better then that? Yes a spectre and a(n) ice warrior, I know this. But still Liu Kang is my favorite. I felt I was very let down when they took him out.

He's more than just a Shaolin Monk. He is/was associated with the White Lotus Society (another real life group) and they developed a style called Righteous Fist. Having a Shaolin Monk in a fighting game is cool but having a Lin Kuei warrior (which is something that other fighting game series that I know of don't have) makes things more interesting. Liu Kang has won too many times and its time for him to go.

You people are nuts to thing killin off Liu Kang is a good idea!!!!! I do agree that him winning MK all the time was predictable, but why kill him? If this was the problem simply just let him fight with his friends and let someone else like J. Cage win MK. Damn it, everytime I watch Tanya's ending in MK4 and the intro to MKDA and I see Liu die I get upset. He is the the Neo of MK, but should give someone else a chance.

I think MKDA is a great game, but without Liu, its just not as exciting as the previous games. Hell if J.Cage could come back so should LIu!! I don't see how anyone could not like Liu Kang at all. Look how he could have whooped Shang or Quan Chi one-on-one easily. He's a f#ckin G!!!!!

liu kang punk ass shoulda been dead 3 or 4 games ago. its been obvious for some time that he isnt the best fighter on the game. top 5 maybe, but not the best. scorpion should have been champ a long time ago. heres how i see it should have went down as far as mortal kombat champion goes, from game to game.

MK1-Liu Kang
MK2-Kung Lao
MK3-Sub zero
MK4-Scorpion
MKDA-Shang Tsung/Quan Chi *joint custody lol*
MK6-The Dragon King!!! *i know it hasnt even come out yet*
bottom line is i bet more than 70% of people who play mk were tired of liu kang by now. including me! if he comes back for the next game, it will hurt the franchise. and they cant afford another blow because mk is now finally starting to regain some of its popularity it lost after mk ultimate, and trilogy and mythologies and all that other garbage they released.

Well, as much as I appreciate the team killing off Liu (shows they actually LISTEN to the fans. Lets hope Threshold takes our suggestions into consideration for MK3), I wonder what kind of styles they could've given to him.

The points of keeping Liu in the game:
-Fighting Styles
-Weapons
-Different special moves, with a couple of old ones, like what happened to all other veterans.

The good points of buh-bye Liu:
-Not the same basic ending.
-NO MORE ANNOYING TURKEY SOUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont think it was a bad idea. the series needs a new savior of earthrealm. but they shouldnt have completely ruled ole liu out lol. there couldve been a secret for that. like many have said he would have been a great character for the mk:da style of gameplay. i have some ideas as to how he couldve been a secret character if anyone wanna hear it.

While i liked liu (SP?) he was never one of the characters i liked fighting with but he was a good lead ....in the begginging, then he did get stale

after a few years of not playing anythign to do with MK i bought MKDA and new nothign of the story , when i wathcewd the intro for the first time and liu and khan died i was in awe, and knew that the story was going to be fresh , and i loved the idea of two villans teaming up like that. Thats why i love the game i like kung lao as the lead is pretty cool and the new characters are a nice addition .

great game and nice story , im glad theya rent afraid to kill off major characters.

ugh, no more "oh i want this stupid character back in mk6" look, the reason a majority of the peeps of mortal kombat that are gone is because they are no longer needed, just wait for the mk team to get the time to create a mortal kombat collection or a game with everyone ever thought of in mortal kombat on one game oh, and one more thing, liu kang, is dead, he was like how a turkey dies and exploded or whatever happened

Ok, here's the problem with that idea. They already did it in Mortal Kombat Trilogy and they are reinventing and rejuvinating the series. Tekken and Street Fighter are both making the same change. Tekken cut down the character roster for Tekken 4 to improve grapichs and gameplay. Capcom vs SNK Chaos will have a drastic roster cut in order to create newly animated characters and gameplay. They are all going back to basics, like it or not.

There are too many people on this board begging for their favorite third rate character to be brought back in MK6. Sareena recognizes this and so do I. It gets annoying to see for 5 threads "PLEESE BRING ERMAC BAC CUZ HE WUZ DA MAN"

Granted , but with that said MKDA is my fav Mk so far even with all the exrtas missing , as for characters i dont really care whos in it given that they are great characters old or new.

The only thing i am dissappointed with in MKDA is that the fights are slow , all i ask is that there be hard hitting violent fighting with some fluidity in the movements as well as a few extra bones such as a two on two , going back to basics is good and all but its bland we need to keeep lokign forward in everythign we do .

and ya you are right the same old topics are annoying, but hell weve made it new already

i think so...its a shame he probably would of had the illest fighting style.. its stupied that they killed him off cuz now they made they story even dumber.. its like killing off luke skywalker and leaving han solo to fight darth vader...it just ait rite...they made the worse moves (story wise) in mkda... anyway hopefully he'll be resurrected someway in mk6...maybe to fight the boss that would be a good story...

I am curious, when was it said that Lui won all of them. Certainly he won the first, It was confirmed in MK2. But none of the other games actually say who one the one before it. MK3 does heavly imply that Lui one the second tournament, but MK4 and MKDA do not really say.

People should be expected to want their favorite characters back. Reptile has always been my favorite character and I was pissed when he wasn't in MK3, and when I saw his MK4 ending I figured he had no chance at returning in MK5. And especially now that MK has entered a new era, people are gonna be pissed, and rightly so, if they know they'll never see their favorite character in a new game again.

A lot of people misunderstand that fact. Liu Kang won the tournament from the first MK game. The second game was a tournament, but no one one the game. From what the story implies, I think that tournament was never actually finished. If the good guys had won, Shao Kahn would have been defeated. He obviously wasn't until MK3. If you read some of the story in MK3, you see that the Earthrealm warriors had to escape from Outworld. This was because the tournament from MKII was a trap set up by Shao Kahn in order to lure Earth's fighters into Outworld so he could get rid of them, as well as distract the gods from his alternative plan to take over Earthrealm in MK3. Shao Kahn failed at killing the Earth fighters, but the Earth fighters were not successful in killing Kahn. All other MK games after this were NOT tournaments! MK3 was an invasion of Earthrealm. Kahn was defeated, but it never said Liu Kang was the one who stepped up to beat him. And even if he was the one who beat him, surely he would not have if not for the help of the others, so Liu Kang would not be the one with total credit here. Raiden did say in his MK4 intro, "After Kahn's defeat at the hands of Earth's warriors..." He did not say, "At the hands of Liu Kang." MK4 was about Shinnok's invasion of Edenia and soon to be all other realms. Liu Kang had a side story of rescuing Kitana in his profile, but FAILED (see, he's not perfect tongue). Shinnok was defeated, but MKDA never said it was Liu Kang who fought and defeated him.

In my humble opinion, aside from Liu Kang being my favorate character (along with Kung Lao), I think it was a mistake killing him off in MKDA. But I had a bad feeling about that ever since John Tobias left Midway. I wish we got the chance to see the Liu Kang mythology game he mentioned he wanted to make. That would have been tight, and Special Forces would have been a heck of a lot better.

My 2 cents...

Liu Kang can still return, haven't you seen Quan Chi's ending? Quan Chi gets Kano to kill Shang Tsung, making souls fly everywhere, then Quan Chi uses his sorcery to drain the life out of Kano, and the first soul that went in him wasn't the Black dragon thug known as Kano, it was the Shaolin monk.... LIU KANG!!!! That was so great the first time i saw that.

subzero961 Wrote:
its a damn shame, I would like to see Liu back but there is a predicament now, pretty much the only way we will ever see Liu again is if Shang Tsung either 1)becomes a good guy and releases conquered souls 2)dies. I think most of us can rule out #1 so Shang must die for us to have a chance to see Liu, now comes the question if you could only pick one would you rather see Shang Tsung or Liu Kang?

i would say with the death of lui kang in mkda has rephreshed the story but i think i like the idea of lui coming back but this time as the head villian in a future mk..kinda a twist of fate thing...have him come back to defeat the dragon king in mk6 then turn instantly afterwards and destroy the rest of the earth worriors and finally kill off raiden which ends the series with the one character that started the whole thing...as in killing them all off in mk7...
