They're not really gonna port UMK3 and act like it's seriously a big deal are they?

I... Words can't define the level of stress I'm feeling right now.

Out of all the arcade games (THE GRID!!!!!!!!!!!) they could port, they stuck with UMK3?

UMK3!?!?!?!?

Unbelievable.

They won't even throw in Rain or Noob Saibot.

In other words, you will be paying money for a game that already came out many years ago.

Yes...a game that came out many years ago that is still fun to play, and its portable. Whats the problem? UMK3 is a great game. I was dissapointed about Noob and Rain not being in there but...oh well.

Noob and Rain aren't in there but Sheeva is? That is total bullshit. I think they should've ported something like Baby Pac-man to DS. I think it would actually work.

Making a port of of UMK3 does sound like a good idea, but boasting about it like it's some huge accomplishment? Not so much.

I... Words can't define the level of stress I'm feeling right now.

Now, now. Calm down. It'll be okay.

Out of all the arcade games (THE GRID!!!!!!!!!!!) they could port, they stuck with UMK3?

UMK3!?!?!?!?

Not really all that unbelieveable. It was an entertaining game, and lots of people like it. Why not make money off something that people like?

They won't even throw in Rain or Noob Saibot.

Oh well. Shit happens. It's a shame we can't use different colored Reptile and Scorpion.

In other words, you will be paying money for a game that already came out many years ago.

Uh, yes... That's exactly what you're doing. Why would they work to make a new game when they can port an old game, call it "classic", and have the same number of people buy it?

They're not the first company to resell old products.

Nintendo's virtual console?
Ports of arcade games to home systems?
The convenience store down the street that resells the hot dogs, even after they've expired, fallen on the floor, and/or been stepped on?

The worlds full of this shit.
Watch the stress level, though. We don't want you bursting a vein now...

Personally, I'm fed up of MK2, MK3 andUMK£ being released with or for every damn thing ging. I'd like to see MK1, MK4, MK Trilogy and Gold. It'd be nice to have some change. Hell, they should just release an MK compendium with all the games together.

What's the big deal abotu all this?

UMK3 is the best 2D Mortal Kombat game (along with MK1), and it is cool to see it being "ressurected"... in a way..

geez...have any of you even touched UMK3 for the arcade? RAIN AND NOOB ARE NOT PLAYABLE IN THE ARCADE VERSION.
anyway, if they were, then everyone would pick them because they are overpowered characters.

UMK3. The only MK game with good gameplay.

Makes sense they would release it numerous times, especially since until the Xbox 360, there was no good port of UMK3.

MKT is broken. Online play for that would be horrible. Noob and Rain were broken. Adding them would be horrible.

They've basically done the best they can. I understand there are a lot of folks that want all the add ons, graphics, fatalities, fluff, etc. But, personally it seems like a wise decision to go with the MK game that has the highest amount of replayability in a competitive setting.

well, its not worth getting if you only play it single-player, the AI is just....so boring..it can either be very hard or very easy, they seriously need to do something with the singleplayer options.

UMK3 is probably one of the better 2D MK games.MK GOLD i think is a sega only game so with that in mind you would probably only get MK4 if they rereleased that one.MKT well that game is just messed up all together.Which verison of MKT would you get anyway if they rereleased that? The saturn verison,N64,or PSX or the PC verison?I think alot of people want MKT cause they abuse rain and noob saibot(not noob)to death.I wish they would rerelease MK2 on XBLA though just to have it on there incase anyone wants it.I am sure we will get MK4(arcade verison)one they on xbla but not MKT and not MKGOLD.

Arrgghh, I can't say how many times I HAD to post this..

UMK3 is the arcade port version that they're making for the DS, NOT MKT. A totally different game, for one UMK3 arcade is very balanced, very good game. MKT is fun, however extremely broken compared to UMK3, Rain and Noob are HORRIBLY broken...apparently a lot of you guys that are complaining about Noob and Rain aren't aware of this. If you knew you would change your tune, trust me.

Rain is only in UMK3 for eye candy, for show. Nothing more, since fans wanted to play as him they put him in MKT for N64 and PS1. Either version they're both horribly broken and unbalanced. If they made MKT for the DS it would SUCK just like MKAdvance did.

UMK3 arcade port is the perfect choice for the DS, it's a lot more balanced then MKT is, more fun overall due to balance and more competitive.

Ohh yeah and Sheeva was always in UMK3 so why this is a shock to some puzzles me personally. Rain and Noob however are NOT playable in UMK3.

i think it comes to alot of shock for some because they only remember playing umk3 on the snes and sega genesis which took sheeva out of that game other then the sheeve glitch.

Apparently you're not aware that Sheeva was removed to add Rain, and Noob in the console versions of UMK3. All you need to know about Noob is: Shadowball, uppercut, uppercut, shadowball, uppercut, uppercut...

I wonder if it'd be the Wavenet version of UMK3. You could pick Noob, by doing a code similar to the Human Smoke code, by picking Kano. IIRC it had online or LAN or something too.

I think he means sheeva was in the arcade version of UMK3, I don't think he means the console ones.

I think if the developers were going to get Wavenet UMK3 to port, they would have used it for the Xbox 360 version, so I doubt they'll use Wavenet for this.

Wavenet was a system for networking arcade machines. So if you went to the arcade and nobody else was around to play you in UMK3, you could switch to wavenet and play people at other arcades.

From what I've read/been told, wavenet had some tweaks to balance it (added disabling for Kung Lao spin for example) and that, as was mentioned, Noob Saibot could be used through a H.Smoke-like code. I think Noob's only special move was a teleport (just for transportation, it wasn't a teleport attack). I think that Noob would be fun to have. But, the versions that we saw in the 16 bit versions and in MKT need not apply. They would ruin an otherwise good thing.

Over 90,000 ranked names are regged for UMK3 on XBL. I don't know what percentage are authentic individual downloads but it's probably around 90% of that based on the hundreds of people I know and only a handful of them use multiple accounts (not renames). That's a lot of money for a little amount of work. It's no surprise they would release UMK3 for DS, along with Puzzle Kombat. It's a brilliant idea.

On the contrary, I'm very aware of that since I have the game for the SNES(for many years). What a lot are STILL not aware of though is that UMK3 coming out for the DS is the arcade port, NOT any home console version thus why Sheeva should be in the game and not Noob and Rain. I'm sure they'll be in there like they were in the arcade version which was Noob(you could fight) and Rain was just in there for show.

And yes I knew of that infinite among many others for quite some time now, I used to live playing that game after school.
OK, sorry. The way you posted that, I got the impression you didn't know about/were ignoring the console versions. The couple times I was on the net that week, I was high.

About Noob though, I was agreeing about his brokenness, and that that combo is all you need to know to win with him. I don't know how to exploit Rain though.

lol about the high thing dude..tongue

Yeah that might have messed with your head a bit man.

But yeah the noob-saibot he actually has a few infinite combinations I believe in MKT.

Rain's there's also some vids on youtube.com

But with his roundhouse super kick, you could just roundhouse, HPx2, roundhouse all day long.

For the N64, I noticed this didn't seem to work on the PSX version you could do that infinite and another partial one with his control orb. Just shoot it, raise the opponent, shoot him again, raise him, shoot him, raise him etc. You can do it about 5 times or so before it cancels out. That move is definitely broken lol. Rain and Noob in general in MKT are broken though.grin

Unless they balance the AI, it is going to get some pretty random ratings, some people who play it single player will give it a bad rating because single player mode SUCKS.

Even a awesome game like UMK3 has its problems, no game is really perfect.

It made my train of thought concentrate on the idea that you didn't know about the home versions. I focused on the wrong point.
