Talk about which moratl kombat is better 2d or 3D.Why?

Classic MK is way better. The old backgrounds are great and have a darker tone. The old controls are better than the stiff fighter from MKDA to MKA. The only new MK game that I could really get into was MKSM, only because it had the same tone as MK 1 + 2. Seeing the old backgrounds in 3D was awesome. I loved fighting Ermac in the warrior shrine, especially since they kept his MKD look.

hm old it is beter because u can do combos easyer plus cool characters that you cant get in the new games

You are so right. If there was only a way to take that "unreal" fantasy world that the 2D MKs had, and incorporate it into 3D, then everything would be fine...

Well I think MK is great in 3D. There is nothing wrong with using real moves. Some Tekken characters use ground fighting skills which are real. I think MK lost it self when the stiff moving fighting style. MK4 kept the old school style. Now the syles don't fit the characters.

2d. MK never has, and never will feel/look right in 3d.
It's great, and all to see what the characters look like in 3d, some of the costume designs are amazing, but MK's soul is 2d.

I Aggree with Mk the Pit.The styles just cant fit them.Mortal kombat used to have no trouble with combos,But now its fustrating and hard to it.And mortal kombat in 2D feels more original mortal kombat than todays

i think 2-D is the way to go, even though technology couldnt stand being in that domain to long, it was good while it lasted, but the character look cool in the new ones, coming to life. But i miss the old school look, feel, and its just better.

Classics Way better. though the costum designs were a bit bland

Even MKDA MKD and MKA are still practically 2D fighters. Very little about them is real 3D, for whatever that actually means. I consider fighting games with 8 way walking to be as close to 3D as they're going to be for a while. Side stepping but staying on a linear path to me is like having the dodge option from SNK.
For the record, MK4 was in no way a 3D fighter.

MkD is cool because they brought back some old moves, fatalities, and characters.

How do you mean they are 2d?
Mk needs to have their character move fluidly, like Tekken or Virtua Fighter.

They are 2D because everything happens in a 2 dimensional plane. As long as the characters are automatically turning to face their opponent, there is practically no 3rd dimension of movement. They 3d graphicss but pretty much everything about the gameplay could be done in a fighter with 2d graphics because there is no real 3d gameplay.

So would games like Tekken/Virtua Fighter be real 3D?

Do you notice if you jump over someone in other 3D games or sidestep around them etc, move around 8 ways, the characters body stays stationary and their head stays sorta looking at them. Essentially, MKDA MKD and MKA are just 2D games with added extra 3D elements. And when I say 3D elements I mean you can walk out of the way of a projectile instead of just ducking. You still stay in a 2D playing field. People have been fooled enough into thinking it's 3D so they just say it is. You could play MK with 2D characters and rotate a screen around them easily and make it kinda look 3D, like MK4.

I just plain like the feel of classic MK.
The classic MK feel was perfect for the game.....it seems the backgrounds were perfect for the game, wheather it was mk 2 with the dark feel, or mk 3 with the mainly earth/modern arenas. But now it seems as though that there jus tryna to make the arenas look as flashy as possible, goros lair didnt even look the same in mka. But i do think they did a greatjob with the wastelands. But i tihnk that they are going for flash with the games, when the heart of the games is tournament fighting/dark themes, as opposed to yin yang island (what in the blue fuck was that?)

I haven't played a Tekken in years, I don't know how they do things.
I've played a lot of VF4 and VF4e and I would count them as 3D because of the side stepping that is legit side stepping, not just move to the side and have your opponent automatically follow your every move.
Moves can still get you if you side step but only if they have a lot of horizontal sweep.
I always liked the button layout for the Soul series too. Have horizontal and vertical slashes along with a good side stepping system gave the game a lot of interesting gameplay possibilities. I remember the sidestepping in Soul Blade was really fun. d,d to move towards the camera and d,u to move away from the camera. Ahh the memories.

Well MKDA-MKA are 3D. I know MK4 was a false 3D game, just using 3D characters. But MKDA-MKA you can side step and go anywhere on the screen. You can see your character all around also.

Yeah if i try to make it seem 2D I always sidestep. And in the 3D games you need the 3D enviroment to win.

They had sidestepping in MK4 as well. It was equally useless in all the 3D MK games because the moves pretty much always happen along a 2D plane between the characters. Side step is basically like when you dodge an attack in a 2d fighter. It avoids 1 move but doesn't make the gameplay 3D.

Wel you couldn't really side step like you can in MKA. Actually in 2D MK game you can only block or jump over projectile attacks.
