I think the thing that makes Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance so much better than past MK titles is the fact that the characters actually have some muscle. I mean, look at the triceps on Scorpion? Past MK games were too down to earth, the characters were like stick people. Did anyone else like this heavy muscle-ing of MK:DA?

Not particularly, you can be smaller and still look buff. It's all about how toned the muscles are... You don't need to make them huge to make them look strong. I mean, look at Kenshi... I mean, he's still pretty large in the muscle area but he's nowhere near as big as Scorpion yet he still looks strong.

I like DA stylistically. Though, I woulnd't go as far to say that the models in the game is what makes it, "cough" good "cough".

it is true that the mk team buffed them up alot. but if you remember mk3/umk3/mkt all have buff characters (in mk1 and mk2 they were kinda skinny lol) mk4 gave them some muscle tone but mk:da went alittle too far with it. plus deadly alliance was capable of more detailed models.

i just would have to say that it is a change in the times. I mean if you think about it, you cannot go back to mk4, or mk2 styles. See what i mean?

im glad the characters look more muscular. in mk1-mkt they looked very skinny. scorpions spear was bigger than hin legs, lol. mk4 characters looked "buff" but in a crappy kind of way.

In MKDA Scorpion and Sub Zero are really the only only one's with extreme buffage. I mean, in Sub's Win Poses his arm disappears into his chest or something. Try Sub's Konquest... damn, he is like, sticking half his hand in his stomage, just because it's THAT damn big.

I HATE what they did to the characters.
Now they look no diferent from the characters in Tekken, Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur. MK always looked more realistic than all other fighting games. Now it's lost all the realism it had left.
I'd rather see the characters look HUMAN again.

I liked MK style. I have to disagree that past Mk games people looked lame. they where good for its time. I liked the way the people in MK: DA looked and comparred to past MKs I do think that MK: DA beats the looks by lot.

The new Scorpion looks fat. I don't like that. Sub and Scorp are supposed to be agile Ninjas with normal muscles, instead they're like wrestlers in MKDA.

I never noticed if they were ever buff in the previous MKs, but it does make sense that the characters have some muscle now. I mean, considering that most of them need to be very fit for the lines of work that they do, and that some of them use there martial arts as part of their professions, it makes sense that they have a bit of muscle mass showing on them. Some examples include:

-Special Forces basically cops} (Sonya, Jax, Cyrax, Kenshi)
-former assassin (Sub-Zero)
-stunt man (Mokap)
-action movie star (Johnny Cage)
-army general (Kano)

There's a diference between requiring a bit of 'buff' because of your ocupation, and looking like an absolute anecdote.
