When MK1 came out I was in second grade, and was only just starting to play video games. I played MK1 a couple times, but sadly never bought it, and later I got MK2 and have since become a pretty big MK fan...anyway, I think it would be cool (although unlikely) if Midway did a remake of MK1, basically in the style of MKDA as far as the graphics, gameplay and fighting system, with 3d remakes of MK1 areanas. Also I think Reptile, though still "hidden" and not immediately playable, should be more in depth, with his own unique moves, and the ability to morph between a ninja and a lizard form kinda like how he looked in the MK movie.
Please post your thoughts on this concept, ideas for feature a remake should have, etc.

Greetings,
I've had a similar idea.
I'm working on a concept game (of course sketches and outlines only, I can't program!) called "Mortal Kombat Legacies", basically a new MK, but the biggest ever. It also has the earlier games unlockable, but has both the classic versions and... the remade version! It would indeed be very cool to see an all-3D remake in DA style (or even better) of some MK backgrounds and character. I suppose they could also use some inspiration from the movie in such a remake (using backgrounds like the labyrinth, the beach, etc etc).
Also, in MK2: just imagine Kahn's Arena in full 3D! That would be awesome :p.
What would also be cool is a prequel to MK, as has been suggested on the MK6 boards.
Peace,
Q

I think it might be a cool idea if they make an MKT remake with the MKDA fighting style and graphics and put it into one big game with a bunch of mini games. They could have 3-D versions of the kombat zones and they should have the original music for the kombat zones from MK1 and such but in a next-gen console quality and of course they need to be longer lasting and should mix in properly with the sound fx.
I wish it was humanly possible to create a Trilogy type game with every character remade in MKDA style, but in reality, that is very unlikely because of time, money, and size of PS2, GBA, and XBOX discs.
what is VERY possible would be MKDA with the krypt having coffins that unlock MK1, 2, 3, u3 (yes IMO they are different, not by much, but different), 4.

THEY SHOULD DO WHAT A LOT OF COMPONIES DO. LIKE ACTIVISION AND NAMCO MAKE A DISC WITH ALL OF THE 2D MORTAL KOMBATS ON IT. THAT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME SINCE I NEVER HAD A GENESIS OR SNES (HELL MY FIRST CONSOLE WAS PSX) I PLAYED MORTAL KOMBAT 1 AND 2 AND 3 A LOT BUT NOT AS MUCH AS I WOULD IF I HAD OWNED THEM MYSELF. THAT IS DEFINATLEY SOMETHING MIDWAY SHOULD DO. THEY SHOUL ALSO INVOLVE SUB-ZERO MYTHOLOGIES TO IT.

This is by far a horrible idea, why would I want to play MK1 when I can play a better game like MK2 or MKT, those games they should remake, not this garbage game.

Yeah, personally I would love to see all of the 2D Mortal Kombats re-released. I don't really know about MK1...I'd rather see MK2 remade.

How can someone call themself a Mortal Kombat fan and say MK1 is garbage? If they didn't make MK1 they wouldnt have been able to make MK2 or any other MK sequel. I mean if you don't enjoy playing the original MK that's one thing, cuz by contemporary standards the graphics and sound are primative, and the gameplay is so simplistic compared to, say, MKDA, but you gotta look at the historical importance of the game. And anyway, that's practically my point. MK1 isn't that appealing to fans of modern 3d fighting games, but what if the controls were deep, the graphics on par with xbox and ps2 games, etc? I'm talking MK1 character and story simplicity with MKDA gameplay complexity. It's all about the roots of MK.

I agree, besides MK1 had a very cool story line and awesome characters (the original Sub-Zero is way better then the new one) and the fatalities were easy to pull off. I you dont like MK1 then you cant be a fan its impossible, thats just my opinion though.
