That game was incredibly fast, had awesome characters, a good fighting system, and was just the best!

If they had introduced the MK4 game engine with the MK3 game, it actually would have been the king of all fighting games. But they were too slow with the 3D Transition. So FUCK NO it's not the king of all fighting games.

But hey, that's just how I see it.

I love the PC version. Granted, it's rushed, the graphics are crap by today's standards, and all the characters are the same, but I love the gameplay. It takes two seconds to load it up, and about five minutes to finish it, so I always find myself playing it in my spare time.

Well to me, MK4 was a very good fighting game and I wished that would have been MK3. The graphics were actually pretty good in my opinion and the gameplay was fast. One thing that bugged me about the game was the side stepping. Another thing that bugged me was that I wish there was more gameplay content. But overall, I really liked it and I appreciated how it had that sense of darkness and fury.

I disliked MK4 quite a bit. I've been a big fan of UMK3 and MKT and they are so much faster and have so much more depth without stupid stupid stupid things like the Maximum Damage. MK4 was just too rushed, the characters were not designed well enough, and the reusing of motion captured moves was just depressing.

IMO MK4 was the worst out of the MK Kollection (not including spin offs). Worst character line up for a mainstream fighter that i have ever seen, pretty much the worst boss i have ever seen (Shinnok might have been cooler had he not been selectable), and one sorry excuse for a 3d fighter. The only thing i liked about it was the bone breaking moves. I think they should replace throws in mk6 with the bone breaks.

Maybe it's fun to play, maybe it's fast and nice to play in spare times, but really, you must be the sole person in the universe and in all the parallel dimensions who thinks it's ''teh king of fighting games''. Compared to other fighters that were out at the time, MK4 was crap.

The arcade version is kick ass. I love to still go play it against people. Every other version just seems so generic. Best fighting game ever? Nah. Fun? Yes. That's where it's problem is too. It's really fun but just doesn't have any depth. The combos are cheaply made. It really is the only MK game where special moves make or break characters.

I loved MK4 but things got even better when MK Gold came out i still play it every now and then the only thing i hate about it is the camera anyway i give it a 9/10.

Thats funny how in the MK History in mkda, I think it is Ed Boon that says "Mortal Kombat 4 is the mother of all fighting games." I was rolling on the floor holding my stomach. I have never heard something so absurd.

I think he says mortal kombat in general in the vid, but anyway i thought mk4 was ok, not one of the better mks, but it wasnt the worst game out there, i dont think it would have done as well if it didnt have the mk name on it .

Nope he says MK4 I remember. I like mk4 though(actually MKG) because it is the funniest mk game ever, it has the funniest glitches.

yeah ive gotta agree, it had at least one of everybodys best fatality in it: scorpions toasty fatality, the leg beat, the heart rip and the good ole spine rip. id say in terms of fatailties mk4 was one of the best...id like to know the deal with scorpion actually turning into a scorpion though

Obeisly you never played Soul Calibur II

MK4 is a very fun game. I think its fast..and well, its just a fun game. but it is NO WAY the king of fighting games. MK4 is'nt even in the king's castle

the charater designs were god awful, Kai may have some cool moves, but hes so bland its not even funny, and Lui Kang wore the same damn cloathes sence MK2. and almost all the fatalities were just carbon copy of the old played out ones from the first 2 MK games.

But still MK4 is still alot more fun than MKDA

mortal kombat 4 was ok, but i hated it so much, even though i like easy challenges so i can build up practice, but hell, that game was too damn easy, hell i play on very hard and on the champion II level, i beat it in about 15 minutes, i gotten all 15 movies by the next day i got it, and when ever i played 2 on 2, what was with it that when the person explodes, why do theyre head come to the damn screen? scared my mama, i then bitch slapped my tv

Alot more fun then DA? I dont think so. MK4 sucks ass in my opinion, DA kicks it's ass any day. And as everyone else said, the character disigns sucked ass, I mean, look Jarek and Reiko!!! Can you get more bland?! And then I dont even want to start on Tanya...who the **** has a boomerang for a weapon!?!?!?!

Soul Calibur 2 the king of all fighting games? LMAO! That games sucks comapared to many of the fighters out. I think pretty much all the MKs were better than it except MK1(love it, but its past its system is too old for anyone to really enjoy these days).

As for MK4..I like the game. Its not the best MK..not close, but it's fun and actually had a community with common sense unlike MKDA. Don't get me wrong, MKDA is my favorite MK, but cthe community just makes the game less enjoyable.

I thought Soul Caliber was ok, i like Mkda better though, soul caliber to me pushes the limits of button smasher when you first start playing it... and its a little bland for my tastes the way they reuse character sprites over and over, not that mk doesnt even have the chance to do this, i also think the moves were hard to get when they call the A button B becuase you block with it, it annoyed the crap out of me, sorry for getting off topic lol.

MK4 had a nice idea going with the weapon system but it was executed poorly I think. The concept of it was top notch with the "everybody uses everything" system. But unfortunately they seemed to base it off the weapons of the old Streets of Rage games where the weapons were simple to use and designed to be overpowered. Perhaps if they took something like the weapon system in DA and allowed players to lose the weapon and anyone can pick it up it would work better. But I'm no designer. I really don't know all the ifs, ands, and buts about it. It could mess up the balance quite a bit.
