MK4 Is The King Of All Fighting Games

0
MK4 is fun for a quick fight to play against your freinds or in the arcade or something, but it really has way too much going against it. I mean come on, they worked on it for HOW long? Everything just seems too half-assed. Everyone has the same 4-hit combo, they all seem to have the same model with a different skin, and the pit stages were extremely lame. MK3 was better.

Oh this should be alot of fun.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance: this game was a disapointment. It was slow, the fatalities sucked, the moves sucked, trying to do a combo was a chore and weren't as cooling looking as Soul Calibur II. bottom line. MKDA sucked
Tekken 4:LOL! this one made me laugh, The Worst Tekken game ever made. honestly, whats the difference between T4 and T2 besides the charaters and graphics, and that diaper wearing oldman was a joke of a boss. T4 better than SCII? whats the world coming to
Super Smash Bros. Melee: Uh, comparing Soul Calibur to this game? SSB isn't even a real fighting game. nice try though
Dead or Alive 3: OK game. but still, not nearly as good as SCII
Mortal Kombat 2:both are totally different fighting games so both are great games in their own way
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: Riiiiiiight
Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Great game, but still like MK2, both are totally different fighting games
Tekken Tag Tournament: fun games that gets old after a while. everytime I play this game, I only use tiger and howrange unlike in Soul Calibur II where every fighter are fun to use
Tekken 3: see Tekken tag
Soul Calibur: proabaly as good or a tad bit better than the original SC

Ok here are the facts. You know nothing about any of the games I stated, and you suck at fighting games in general. Those games are better than Soul Calibur 2 and my opinion, and even if those games aren't as good in your opinion, SC2 is not the best fighting game ever made..not even close. Oh, and judging how g ood a fighting is by how great the cosmetics are such as fatalities shows how much you care about actual gameplay. Lastly, SSBM is just as much of a fighter as Street Fighter 2 is, but you wouldnt know since youve never faced a good player in youre life. done and done
honestly, whats the difference between T4 and T2 besides the charaters and graphics, and that diaper wearing oldman was a joke of a boss.
Uh, you mean besides the fact that the gameplay is radically different and faster paced because of advancements like parries, sidestep, sidewalk, walls and so on?
This reply is a joke. Tekken 2 to Tekken 4 is an infinitely bigger leap than SC to SC II.
When was the last time you played Tekken 2? If you can honestly say it plays like Tekken 4 you're either not remembering T2 or you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Question for you - Besides characters and graphics what's the difference between SC and SC II?

Wow, seems like my opinions are starting alot of controversy around here but quite frankly, I couldn't give a rats ass what others think. I still think MKDA sucks, I still think Tekken 4 sucks, I still don't consider Smash Bros a true fighting game, and I still think Soul Calibur II is one of the best fighters ever made and I'am sticking with it. Don't agree with me? tough shit

Agreed. Smash Bros is more of a party game than fighting game, and Tekken sucks dick. I never played Tekken beyond 3, but it feels like you're fighting with boxing gloves on and I've button-mashed my way to so many victories it's not even funny. Soul Calibur 2 is the only fighting game my buddies and I can sit around playing drinking beers for a few hours and never say "this is boring, let's do something else".
MK:DA isn't like Tekken. Don't compare it to that crap. MKDA is the evolution of MK and brought the fighting style to today's standards without being generic.

Coo...and you still no nothing about fighting games, you still are wrong about SC2 being one of the best fighters ever made, and you've still never faced a good SSBM player. Don't agree with me? You should, because I am right. Oh, and you're opinion automatically doesn't count since you think doing combos in MKDA is a chore.

I know nonthing about fighting games because I don't like the games you like? real mature buddy. and I never said I was right. It was all just my opinions. and my opinion is that Soul Calibur 2 is a great fighting game. again, don't agree with me? tough shit. and what the fuck does me never facing a good SSBM player has to do with anything? so what if I never did. it still doesn't change the fact that its not a real fighting game more than its really a party game. and as for the MKDA thing, I still think the combos suck ass. nuff said

I've gotten my ass kicked by many good SSBM players... Then we played some fighting games and I whupped them all.

Give me 10 reasons why SSBM shouldnt count as a fighting game. Why, because it offers something new that other fighters dont? Shut your mouth. No one said Virtua Fighter wasnt a fighting game when introduced 3D. No one said Soul Calibur wasnt a fighting game when it introduced more than things than I can count. So please..don't reply. Like Zentile said it just makes you look bad. SSBM is a fighting game with part game elements. When over 30 people are competeting in national tournaments for big money and reputation, I wouldnt say its a party game. Ask some of the top Soul Calibur 2 players(if you know any) if SSBM is a fighter. Besides dude, even if you dont think its a fighter, your opinion really doesnt mean much. You think combos in MKDA are hard to do..come on man.

Oh and please tell me how Tekken 4 sucks. Its a much bigger leap when you compared T3 to T4 then when you compare SC to SC2.

I'm sorry but I loathe it when people claim Super Smash Bros. is not a real fighting game. Yeah, and Chrono Cross isn't a real RPG because it doesn't feature an MP system. Anything you need for a game like Street Fighter or Virtua Fighter (knowledge about the engine, dexterity, etc.) is what you need for Smash. People think that because Smash features easily executed moves and wide, melee type arenas it's not a fighting game. That it's simple. Smash not simple. The character properties are so vastly different that you can't just learn basic things and "get by", you have to completely understand the character. If you play any 2D fighter, often enough, if you're good with one character, then you should be able to at least handle the others because basic things like jabs and such don't have too much variation in execution or usefulness. Whereas in Smash, someone who has a great grasp on, say, Link, doesn't automatically mean he could do anything as Falcon. Chances are, he'd probably spend much of his time trying not to fall off the stage and mistiming his B moves. It may not be any more complex than other fighters but it's certainly not any less.

That's because Soul Calibur was far ahead of its time in terms of well everything. At the time of its release Soul Calibur had one of the most elaborate fighting systems I had ever encountered (second only to VF which will always be the most elaborate IMO far more complicated then that of any Tekken game). There wasnt much Namco could have improved. In fact I think the second incarnations fighting engine is worse then its predecessors the only thing better is the graphics and extra characters.
By the way Versatile... there is no need to flame people just because you don't agree with their opinions. Ignorant or not its an opinion respect it and move on. You come off as a little arragant.

SSB/SSBM is indeed a type of fighting game, but it just ain't a tr00 fighting game. Ya need life meters and 2 out of 3 rounds. SSBM will always be a great game, but it's not quite right to put it along side of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
0
your contradicting yourself by saying its a type of fighter but not a true fighter. SSBM is a fighter, and just because there isn't any bars and 3 rounds doesnt mean its not a fighter. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 has teams,no rounds and supers..i guess its not a fighter either.
And im not being arrogant. Not at all. SC2 is not as good as he thinks. I really don't care whether he likes it or not, thats his decision, but dont put down fighter that are..in most people's opinions..great games and better than SC2.

Perhaps... but SSBM isn't that great of a game.

Well.. for me MK4 is the worst MK EVER, and the most boring and generic of them all!! Some cool fatalities are the only thing that prevents MK4 from being a real trash, and a total waste.
And you must know, I played it ALOT, and I used to like it, until I got SICK of HP, HP, HK, HK, special attack combo... BORINNNNNNNGG!!!

There is a split here. People who know about games and appreciate well made well crafted fighting games, and people that like MK cUz it goT bLoOd in ti and yOU KiLL PeepAL.
MK1: Good, quite fun.
MK2: My favourite 2D fighting game ever.
MK3: Turd
UMK3: Turd with more characters.
MK4: Actually it is OK. Compared to a serious game it fails but I liked it.
MKT: Woudl have been OK if it wasn't using the terrible MK3 engine.
MK:DA: Soul Calibur but somehow... crap.
God has spoken. Me that is.

Meh, I strongly doubt you can give good reasons as to why SSBM isn't a good game, for I doubt you are very good at it, but even if you could. It's your opinion, and unlike Olympic_Zero you didn't shove it down my throat.

Super Smash Bros. is one of the greatest games Ive ever had the chance to play, IMO. I see it as a unique fighter, since the goal is beating the crap out of someone and finish them off (no, I dont mean fatality). And when you put it in stamina mode, it becomes a real fighting game (energy and stuff).
I really like MKDA too, but it just doesnt have that.... that "thing" that makes me love it. I mean its a great game, but I think it lacks something. Gameplay-wise, graphic-wise, sound-wise... dont get me wrong, Im still playing and enjoying it these days, but overall, I was disappointed.
In my opinion, Sou Calibur 2 is the greatest fighting game so far Ive played . Although I cant realy justify this, because I never played a lot of Tekken, VF4:Evo and DOA... (damn I wish I bought a PS2 instead -_-). I feel its more satisfying than MKDA, in all domains. But I cant say that its the best fighting game ever, because its only what I think. Just as you guys are arguing about "SC is better than MK" or" SC2 is sure as hell not the best fighting game", you're entitled to your own opinions. But you're wrong if you say that "this game" is better than "that game", because its only your opinion. Its a shame we cant all agree. :(
Okay, to come back to the subject of this thread, I loved MK4 when I first played it. Because of the "dark" atmosphere the game possesses. But of course I was a young n00b then (like 13), but I still am a fighting game n00b. But now, when I play it again, Im bored after like an hour. Thats not good. So, mother of all fighters? I dont think so.
Cant really comment the older MK games, I was way too young back then...

Hell no, Soul Calibur 2 isn't even close to being the best fighting game ever made. The Juggle system abosolutely positively sucks in that game. The Air control in it is a bitch which leaves the juggle system not as fun. Now fighting games without a good juggle system ain't good. I actually prefered the first Soul Calibur a lot better. Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution pisses on Soul Calibur in every way. Most people would disagree because of the skill it takes to learn a character, but I like that about it. The Quest Mode is good and not dull like the Weapon Master mode. I hated it when you had to play against Beserker about 20 times. The whole getting extra weapons was just better in the orignal Soul Blade then Soul Calibur 2. In the Quest Mode of Virtua Fighter it is the closest ever to fighting a realistic human opponent (I'ts not perfect).
Now I like juggles, which was one of the reasons I took to Mortal Kombat in the first place, It's why I like mind game fighting games such as Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Virtua Fighter 4 Evo.
Cause they contain loads of juggles that when pulled of cannot be escaped. There's proberly some in Soul Calibur 2, but not as much as there should be.
Now on the topic, I don't believe that Mortal Kombat 4 is the king of all fighting games, but it was fun when it came out but outshadowed because Tekken 3 was out, and no fighting game at the time was touching that, not even Virtua Fighter 3. I think that Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution in my opinion is the best fighting game I have played, I just wish I knew more than 1 person who would learn the moves and combos.
PEACE!!!!
