Like why my Sub-Zero is eons better than yours...
just kidding...
no im not.

no im not.
i read this whole freaking thread again. this thread is just too funny the way things work out. i still stick to the any character can take any character with correct adapting and mind games. but i'm not starting that debate again *has carpel tunnel from last time*. the greatest thing was jop telling konqrr he doesn't know his mk2 haha. i really don't see what's so hard to understand about his reptile beating a mileena. shit happens. i beat konqrr's mileena with liu (one of the few matches i actually won :(). big difference i realize. but now i'm strictly scorpion in every game. just not shitty like konqrr's brother
. having classic sub vs scorp matches with vers is something i look forward too the most

Man...I played OmniPotent(a player who is even with me in MK2..if not a tad bit better) Mileena on Reptile and he didnt win a single match! That match up is not even logically possible. I mean to pull that off the Mileena would have to screw up so badly.
I think Liu vs Mil is pretty damn even, even tho mil is obviously better. Flying kick punishes the teleport and low fire ball goes under standing sais. I dunno, to me its just turtle, turtle, take a lil risk, hope it works, if it doesnt you take damage, repeat.
Im mediocre in MK2..ask anybody..I am WAYYYYYYYYY better in UMK3, but I still hold my shit down in it. You set a time for those Sub on Scorp matches. Is it gonna be MK2 or MK2 and UMK3? Maybe even MK1?(HAHAHAH yeah right)

Cyrax Tactics
Ok, I know Cyrax isn't the best MK:DA character but here are some tactics to make him better. If they've already been posted I apologize.
Ninjitsu
Cyrax hasn't got many good moves in Ninjitsu, the best combo is 1,1 (his only combo with no delay)
up+2 is a good move to start the battle, it's quick and might surprise your opponent.
back+3 is a nice low move that might throw your opponent off of their feet, only use it when you're sure it's going to hit though, its got some serious delay.
Ninjitsu is also good for its style branches. Here are the setups I usually use:
1,1, back+1, style branch, spinkick, use this only if you're sure you can time it right. With a little bit of luck, your opponent might also suffer wall damage.
1,1, back+1, style branch, close bomb, back+2, forward+2, style branch.
I think this is his most powerful combo. After the bomb has fallen, your opponent will try to do the following:
°Backflip away, this won't work, nobody can jump away quick enough to avoid the back+2, forward+2, style branch hits.
°Attack you, you will get hit, but eventually, the bomb will make sort work of his combo.
°Sidestep, he wil still get hit by the bomb and if you're lucky, the bomb will throw your opponent into the path of you back+2, forward+2, style branch combo.
Sambo
While Ninjitsu is his worst style, Sambo isn't any better. However, it has got one advantage: taunt.
back+2, taunt is certain to work. And if you know that your opponent is going to try to attack you (most people think they have time to hit you before the taunt works) then you can shredder their hopes away with you razorblade.
back+2, forward+2, up+2 is a difficult combo to pull of and most of the time not worth it. Use it only of your opponent is going to suffer wall damage.
This is Cyrax' main style branch setup I use when playing with Sambo:
back+2, forward+2, style branch, back+2 close bomb and if you want to, you can always try his lightsaber lunge (down+4) afterwards.
Lightsaber is Cyrax' best style. His best moves are his lunge (down+4), his sweep (back+1), his pop-up (back+2) and his impale is among the fastest of the entire game.
NOTE: sometimes to make the close bomb work after a combo, you will have to move a little closer. Or in case the bomb doesn't hit, use a move that makes him shove the bomb (e.g. lightsaber lunge)
The best combo I managed to pull off with Cyrax was a whopping 33% (starting in ninjitsu: 1,1, back+1, style branch, spinkick+ wall damage = 33%)
However, even with these tactics, it's still difficult to win. Cyrax' best move is his impale, but sadlty, in doing so, he also loses his best style.

Heh, I recognise these tactics bro ;). However, what you describe aren't always true setups.

Yeah, I can see you do know what you're talking about by your tactics. My Cyrax is aight..just wanna add some shit.
Ninjitsu: Obviously 1,1 is the shit. It doesn't come at fast as say..Jax's jabs so it's best to turtle up and whenever you see poking oppurtunity bust this one out. It's not likely to be punished. Mix that up with single 1s and 1,1s. Throw them off a bit, and every now and then be sure to do 1,1,b+2 to throw them off. Cyrax is not good, so risks are obviously needed.
Sambo: I prefer Sambo because the single 1 recovers faster than the single 1 in Ninijitsu. However, the 1,1 in Sambo is not quiet as safe. I like that b+2~taunt strategy you thought up. I never thought of that one. Nice. Ya just gotta find a time for it to hit..lol. The hard part.
Pulse: Just a better Kori Blade. d+4~bdc is good for spacing out, and so is 1~bdc. Make sure to press up before doing them so that they cannot side step. b+3 is dope because it's a sweep that is hard to punish. A good mix up with 1. Key is to stay mid range with this stance.
Lastly, DON'T FORGET THE GUARANTEED COMBO SET UP! Ninjitsu: 1,1,b+1~cs,f,b+2,up,2. The cs makes them bounce as you know, so you can release a bomb. If they try to side step or jump away the 2(throw) will connect PLUS the bomb will explode. So they have no choice but to just take the bomb or take the bomb plus damage. Which sounds more friendly to you?

I'm (too) late with this, and some of it may have been said before, but nonetheless, here are strategies I go by, character per character...
I'll start with...
-----------
SHANG TSUNG
-----------
General
Shang Tsung is one excellent warrior. What he may lack in the raw power department, he more than makes up in speed. None of his styles is truly lacking. Look out with the special moves though; they are all unsafe. The 3D fire is good to catch off guard moving opponents but his other two moves, especially the soul steal, are only to be used if they are sure hitters.
Snake
Snake is not bad but I use it only as his secondary style. Most of his snake combos are pretty safe except for the one that ends in b+4 which should only be used when the opponent is not blocking and near a wall. The main stuff to go by is his style branch (1,1,2,CS). Uses for it will explained in crane. There is also a combo that does about 20% in snake (u+2,f+4) but the first move is punishable.
Crane
That's more like it. Crane has a reversal that can lead straight up to his Shang's style branch (3,3,3,1,1,1,CS) or a 27% combo (2,2,1,1,1,CS or 3,3,2,2,1,1,1,CS). After his pop-up attack you can choose either to replenish your own health and deal low damage by using the soul steal, or do more damage by using the combo described above.
His full style branch is unsafe, but if you constantly make blocked attempts at 2 or 3,3,2 your opponent may be tricked into releasing block after the third hit. If your style branch is blocked anyway, abort it before you get your sword out.
Crane also has a sweep (d+4) which is slow but excellent in range and nigh impossible to avoid if unblocked.
Straight sword
The most interesting move with this weapon is d+2 (it shares this move with its toned down companion, Cyrax's pulse blade) which is a quick low 2-hit that does very good damage and includes wall damage. The longest straight sword combo (4,2,3,b+3) is relatively useless when blocked because it's unsafe, but if you manage to confuse your opponent with enough low hits and he's with his back against the wall, this combo can do about 30% damage if not seen coming. His 1,1 is mildly interesting because it can also hit swerving opponents. Other moves are only good for variation. If you have a chance of impaling, use it.
Cheers,
VQ

Oh brother dont even waste your time man. Why bother? Not one person cares about high level play for MKDA, and if they do they already know everything there really is to know.
Let's just wait for MKD.
