MKDA styles (Unarmed)
What do you think of the unarmed styles in MKDA
- Aikido - despite minimal attacks and combos, when used with neijin, the throws are devastating.
- Ba Gua - very close range style, has a sweep and very minimal combos
- Baji Quan - the quickest style with the least combos
- Crab - Perhaps one of the funniest styles in the game
- Crane - Very fast and deadly style of Shang tsung
- Dragon - Good attacks especially when combined with neijin
- Drunken - Perhaps one of the funniest styles in the game
- Eagle Claw - The most beautiful style for kicks
- Escrima - Excellent in close range...lacks combos
- Fu Jow Pai - Devastating with neijin, favourite style for the ladies
- Hapkido - The Best in my opinion. Very well rounded
- Hung Gar - Complex combos but powerful
- Jeet Kune Do - nice mix-up combos, shame its abit slow
- Judo - dont play as jax much
- Jujutsu - good style, similiar sweeps to hapkido

Cool. Do you think that Raiden's Jujitsu style is the same style of Jujitsu that is connected to Hapkido?
Another thing, it seems strange that some of the styles you mentioned as slow should actually be quite fast such as Ninjitsu and Wing Chun. Perhaps it's best if they fix that for the next MK game.

Baji Quan is all about pop up combos, it has like three pop up moves. Technically i guess it doesn't have many canned combos but you're pretty much free to create havoc with the pop up ability of the style.

Could be, im not sure cos there are variations on jujitsu. at times i do think if some the styles were spelt wrong - examples:
pi gua: pi kua?
sambo: sombo?
jujutsu: jujitsu?
i dont know....
wing chun is more sensitivity and simple body mechanics that make it seem fast.
If MK had a better defensive system as well as attacks, other styles would work so much better.
Especially styles like Aikido that aim to use their opponents moves against them.
Stress test each style with every other to find a balance and work with for example...that would improve gameplay
To good players on MKDA. When playing as Sonya, many seem to only focus on her Tae Kwon Do style, and do not pay to much attention to Kenpo. TKD is obviously better and definitely a Top 5 Style, but Kenpo is also very good and effective!
I actually always play with Kenpo first, and then change to attack in TKD. Kenpo is much more difficult to use at the beginning, but then, its just as deadly as TKD, with many high attacks and pop-up hits.

Kenpo, Pi Gua and Tae Kwon Do rule.
queve youre right about the common tendencies to use just one style per character.
I used to do the exactly the same thing with Scorpion using Hapkido all the time, but after time and practice, i find Pi gua much better....its so damn sneaky its unbelievable!
The only thing that lets it down is its slower, but the power makes up for it.
BTW, Pi gua rulez against moloch.
I've never been a fan of sonya, but do agree with queve that kenpo is an effective style.
Raiden's styles rock too, both nan chuan and jujutsu.
jujutsu is fairly similiar to hapkido in terms of sweeps

karate, ju jow pai, kenpo and muay thai are hard for some but for masters they are too easy to pull combos

Well I know that Aikido and Hapkido both have their connections to Daito-Ryu style of Jujitsu so perhaps Raiden used Daito-Ryu in MK:DA. I would like for him to use Shorinji Kempo Jujitsu in MK6.
I think all of the gameplay aspects of MKDA should be enhanced for MK6.
But anyway, since this is in the MKDA discussion, I'll get back onto the topic. When I played as Sonya in MKDA, I really did like using her TKD stance (especially against Moloch). I don't remember too much from her Kenpo stance except for her shovel kick and moves like that.
Out of all the characters I was able to play as, I remember Scorpion the most. I relied on his kick moves in Hapkido and then I bitched slap my opponents to death with Pi Gua. I didn't really focus on using the weapon styles that much.
