Well , duh you guys! It obviously is connected to reality! Didn't you see those 2 movies? They prove that the characters to exist in real life!! Duh! When the director went to cast the movies, he prayed to the thunder god (some people call him Raiden) to summon the mortals who will fight evil, and so Raiden (that thunder-god dude) called people like Liu Kang, Sonya, and Sub-zero from their mansions and yatchs to help fight evil. Its obviously real!
Currently: Because they all did a good job, the US government has them on a secret mission to combat terrorism in the middle east- so at the moment, they are fighting crime and goats in the middle east. IF they survive, then there will be a Mortal Kombat 6 (well- Liu Kang is dead as of MKDA- but thats ok- we never liked him anyways). So there ya have it- proof that MK is 100% real!

My sources, who will remain nameless for obvious security reasons *cough* *cough* , tell me that Rayden has two teams in strategic areas, areas I cannot reveal for those same security reasons, ready to act when given the go ahead by the President. Your totally right, you see one theory suggests that everything man thinks has to exist and really is just a vision of somewhere else in existence. If this were correct then Boon and Tobias (not 100% sure who did what) may have received psychic visions of a Mortal Kombat held in a far of galaxy. However it is more likely they just liked horror movies and old kung fu films :P
