I am a huge Tekken fan. In fact, im gonna go to the arcade to play in about an hour, but I'm a hardcore MK junky. Anything that's MK I'll look at twice. MK just has that great feel to it.

As for SC2 and T4 being superior to MKDA,I say hell no. MKDA isn't as deep as T4 or SC2, but it's the first MK game that actually requires strategy to play. It has tech rolling, wall teching, real juggles, and all the other things former MK fans wanted before they went onto Tekken. The engine is fantastic. Some seem to say that there are only 30 or so moves, this is far from wrong. Sub Zero, for example, has about 67 moves, and Scorpion has 64.

Im gonna have to say that the MK characters own the tekken characters. Tekken has some of my favorite video game characters of all time (Hwoarang,Kazuya,Craig, etc) ,but MK has badasses like Sub Zero,Scorpion, Reptile. Im sure even Tekken fans would admit that MK owns Tekken in the character section.

Pre established combos are RARELY used in high leveled play. Most players have grown out of them and have come up with better juggle that they created themselves. Whoever said this needs to spend a bit more time playing the game than talking trash about it.

I forgot the name of the guy who said this, but it's really sad that people think that depth judges how good a fighting game is. Fun is what matters, and I find MKDA to be much more fun than Tekken 4, Soul Calibur 2, Virtual Fighter 4, Marvel vs Capcom 2, or whatever you guys play. MK FOR LIFE!

I'm going with MKDA here. It's a much larger leap in difference to MK4 than Tekken 4 was to Tekken Tag or even Tekken 3 for that matter.

BTW Nice Avatar DarkScorpion001, a videocapture from an episode that aired on "Space" isn't it? wink

its only in d.a. that the mk bin using acyual martial arts, in the previous games, they all had basicaly the same moves(cept 4 their specials) but tekken has always used pretty authentic martial arts moves

TEKKEN IS OK AND EVERYTHING, BUT COMPARED TO MORTAL KOMBAT ITS A NO BRAINER MORTAL KOMBAT WOULD ROCK THE HOUSE WITH TEKKEN. I NEVER PLAYED SOUL CALIBER BUT AFTER SEEING WAT EVERY1 IS SAYING ABOUT I THINK I'LL RENT IT AND MAYB BUY IT WAT ABOUT DEAD OR ALIVE I THINK DOA IS BETTER THEN TEKKEN NOT MK THOUGH WAT EVER HAPPENED TO STREET FIGHTER I THINK STREET FIGHTER SHOULD MAKE A RETURN AND ALSO I THINK MK WILL ROCK THE HOUSE WITH THEM TOO

MK vs Tekken 'd be a nice game... the variety characters of Tekken in style of Mortal Kombat, and a lot of visual damage... mutilated limbs and stuff like that 'd be succesfull.

The Tekken games normaly suck, because of their endless K.O's after stab, kick, hit and beating the fuckin opponents ass...
They either haven't any damage and finally the gameplay speed of Tekken is quit to slow..
This is why I don't like Tekken

Otherwise MK5, Very good fightning game with style, exept for the lack of a few new moves and characters. It 'd make the game perfect

overall there can always be more realistic mutilations and gore in a fightgame I think fightgames have to show what really happens when you hit somebody in the face, and his nose won't stand good anymore
This is also a fact by a lot of action movies...smile

Anyone who is serious about Tekken can and will destroy all who mash buttons.

A couple of months ago I would've said Tekken...but now that I've had more time with it, MKDA is my choice.

I would actually see MK vs. Tao Feng or MK vs. Killer Instinct. Tekken could either go against Soul Calibur or Killer Instinct. DOA could go up against Virtua Fighter. I'm not sure who Street Fighter will face off against....

Well anyway, I've played most of the Tekken games and most of the MK games and as in terms of animation and the animation fluidity, MK's animations are actually more fluid than Tekken's. A lot of people who support Tekken say that Tekken's animations, etc. are more realistic than MKs. In some ways, that's true, but in many other ways, it's false. Tekken's jumping and side-stepping animations aren't that great. I doubt that many people in real life would drag their feet when side-stepping. And that's what happens in Tekken. I found MK:DA's side-stepping to be more realistic. And as in terms of jumping, the animation for that in Tekken for me is kinda jerky and not as precise and fluid as in an MK game. But it goes into much more than just the jumping and side-stepping. The overall feel to the moves is kinda chunky and sluggish.

However, one advantage that Tekken had over the previous MK games was that Tekken used martial arts styles and distinctive moves per character unlike MKs, although, the Mk characters did have their own unique combos in MK3-MKG. As for that whole ordeal with depth, Tekken is slightly deeper than MKDA in the fact that you can combine the attack buttons to perform differen attacks. But, the impaling, weapon system, switching the fighting styles, etc. in MK:DA make up for that.

And as in terms of evolution, MK:DA made a huge evolution leap while Tekken 4 didn't. And as in terms of characters and storyline, I still prefer MKs more even though I do like some of the characters and storylines in Tekken. IMO, MK has a deeper storyline and more interesting characters.

tekken > Mk

for many reasons. tekken is jus a better over all game. it has more depth. just frame moves attually side steps unlike mk. in tekken you can acctually side step behind your opponent unlike mk where if you hit your opponent from behind he magicly appears facing you again. also there are custom combos in depth juggles. mk has niether all the combos are set by the game makers and the juggles are flat and unappeling. dont get me wrong i like MK:DA but its definatly 2nd to tekken.

i love mk:da ..but one thing that annoys me about it is that you have to defend getting up off the ground...which makes really easy to keep ppl on the ground.

soulblade/soul calibur for mine as best fighting game series.

i agree with the few of you that say they cannot be compared.
they are too differant and equally good (though id take a copy of tekken2 over any other tekken or mk game...possibly including mkda).

btw whats truley more stupid...a wrestler in a cat mask OR a gaint hump backed 3 eyed ape with a rock chained to his hand (not to mention a name ripoff of a race from a bad 70's movie)?
