I Have Become as the Wastelands of Unending Nothingness. Now Shall the Night Things Fill Me with their Whisperings, and the Shadows Reveal their Wisdom.
And regarding Cyrax and Reptile, shouldn't Cyrax be a little lighter, and Reptile a little heavier? I mean, Cyrax is as agile as the next kombatant (shit, he even has a backflip escape in Ninjitsu), so if he were 650 or whatever he is, shouldn't that weigh him down? And with Reptile, shouldn't his tail and all his spikes and shit bring him up to at least 200?
Hell, a lot of the profiles were fucked up. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Lol good point. But hey, they measured Goro for his MK1 profile (8'2", 550 lb), and it can't be much easier to get close enough to a Shokan to measure him than an Oni. Besides, who would have weighed and measured all the other characters anyway?
Xalibar Wrote: The only thing i wasn't too sure of was cyraxs' wieght. If he is 650, then wouldn't it be hard for him to move? And when he hits you, i think it would hurt a lot more since he has a lot of weight. I think when he went to retrieve the orb for nitara i think he would've just sank straight to the bottom and unable to come back up. But i dunno, things are as they are. |
That's true too; one could argue that he has the strength to swim in lava despite his heavy armor, but then his attacks should cause more damage.
Here are some other things that don't make sense in profiles:
Quan Chi- How can he be 6'7" and only 210? And he really doesn't look like he's 6'7"; in the intro FMV he doesn't look taller than Shang Tsung, who's only 5'11".
Raiden- In MK1 I think his profile said he weighed 350. Now, only 230? And at 7'?
Bo Rai Cho- Sure he's fat, but 375? I mean he's not THAT fat, is he? Homer Simpson only weighs 249. Is Bo really that much fatter than him?

I agree that Reptile should have weighed more. Maybe not as much as a real dinosaur, but he should've weighed 350 lbs. If he's the same height as Johnny Cage, there's no reason cage should weigh 1 lb more than him.
Quan Chi was always tall in other games, so it makes sense that he is 6'7". In Mortal Kombat 4 he was about between Raiden and Sub-Zero's heights. With Raiden at 7' and Sub-Zero at 6'2", 6'7" sounds very accurate. Height differences are always very minimal in the actual models anyway to prevent gameplay problems.
Judging by when Drahmin stands up straight in the game, Drahmin is about 6'6"-6'10". I have no clue how much he weighs.
There's a pro-wrestler, Rikishi, who weighs 380 lbs and has a very similar build to Bo Rai Cho, Therefore, I consider Bo Rai Cho's weight stat very accurate.
As for Cyrax, I think it's just his chest that weighs so much. I mean he does have a frickin saw blade and bombs in his chest plate. That could add to his weight without increasing his strength. All MK characters are strong though. In MK4, Tanya, the smallest character, can Body slam Goro. Go figure.

Regarding Reptile, 350 would be too much. His muscular-skeletal structure, minus the head, tail, and feet, resembles a human much more than a dinosaur. 230-250 would probably amke the most sense.
With Quan Chi and the MK4 comparison, I think almost all the male characters looked like they were within 5-6 inches of each other. Raiden certainly didn't look 7'. 6'5" for Raiden and 6'4 for Quan Chi would make more sense, IMO. And maybe 6'5" or 6'6" for Jax.
Drahmin doesn't look THAT tall. I'd say 6'4". And for weight, probably 260.
How tall is the wrestler Rikishi? BRC is only 5'11"; aren't most wrestlers pretty tall?
Good point with Cyrax's chest; but if he would realistically weigh that much, seems like they didn't put much thought into the physics and mechanics of the whole cyberninja concept back in MK3 when they were introduced.

Well, like I said they tried to make them all look similar in height. Significantly larger characters would be easier targets to hit with moves, so they make them close in size to balance the game. Also, Raiden is in a squatting position.
By the same token that Raiden is 6'5", but he's 7 foot, I'd say Drahmin is 6'6"+.. maybe not 6'10". Probably 6'6".
The wrestler, Rikishi, is only 6'1", with the exact same build as Bo rai cho. Basically same size, maybe even thinner than Bo Rai cho.
I wouldn't have made Cyrax that heavy either. I'd have made him 300 lbs. I'd also have made him taller. 6'2" maybe.
