(This is my original post, read the reply for the followup) Ok ya know how the start button will work like the arcade version did when it's things at like say the press start to begin play screen.... but during gameplay, during the actual fight, it'll bring up a pause menu (for the emulator interface). (I really wish they only assigned the pause menu to the select button instead of both)...... so what happens when Toasty comes out in the Portal? When you press down+start to fight Smoke? Can anyone try this? I'm a bit worried, I hope they fixed it so they either remembered this OR they built it so it's like whenever the GAME asks for a start input it overrides it.
Anyway about MK2/3 on this game, the only discernable flaws are the flickering shadows during jumps which CAN be annoying but all else is perfect

Ok I was all for MAT2 despite the minor problems like sound (announcer doesn't announce Kabal in player select in MK3 for example) and the disappearing shadows which can be annoying cuz it's a flicker thing.... until they effed with the start button. They shoulda just left the emulator interface/pause menu to the select button (not both). Now you can't do random select (Up+start) in MK2 and in MK3, it's not Up+Start, it's Up+X (found that in the manual....so that was an odd change).... so I'm really thinking you can't even fight Smoke in this game

DOH! here's another problem that i THOUGHT wouldn't be cuz it saves scores and stuff: Smoke isn't saved in the memory card after you exit

Yes
lol I quickly memorized it too so I can enter it every time

it'll save scores but not smoke, wtf?

Looks like I was right
I tested my MK2 Smoke theory and was correct
you can NOT fight Smoke in this game :(

Ya I tried the down+x thing cuz they did that gay thing with the random select in MK3 but that doesn't work.....
so sad

This is ridiculous, and officially false advertising. Everything that has been prophesized has come true, as unfortunate as that is. How many people are buying the game JUST to get an uppercut and hit down and start on the Portal to fight Smoke? I want to believe there is some way possible to still fight against him for those people, but it's just not understandable, and almost laughable.
There's is a very long list of words that describe how I feel when I think about what they are trying to pass off as acceptable, I'll try and pick some...

Yah I think they need to do a version 2 disc and send it out to those people who bought it...
But anyway I have more stuff to add to the list
-- In MK2, the music will stop playing randomly when you have less than 30 seconds (Anotherwards it may happen at 22 secs, or 8 secs left)
-- Often freezes up when loading the game, various games

I am picking up all 3 versions tomorrow(well, today technically). Even if it sucks, I still need it as a collector.
What revision is Primal Rage? It should say on the title screen.
And are you playing on PS2? Is Pit-Fighter really unplayable like IGN says?
Can you go into the options menus for the games?

New nitpick:
You apparently can't save settings such as control setups

"And are you playing on PS2? Is Pit-Fighter really unplayable like IGN says? "
Yes and Pit-Fighter is freaking fast as hell...... but I still think it's playable
"Can you go into the options menus for the games?"
No, nothing like in MAME where you have full arcade-operator access. You have some emulator based menus for difficulty, lives etc but that's about it :( sad huh... I think mame spoils us lol

Ummm I'm pretty sure you can, almost every game has like an infinite continues thing cuz in the arcade u could endlessly pump quarters
They also have a hardcore mode for most games where u dont get any continues.

Primal Rage was ported to this collection, the Developer Interview 2 at Gamespot mentions this. So, that game will be 100 percent arcade perfect but of course this is Midway we are talking about so..... I have been on another message board with someone who has all three versions and I've read that the Gamecube runs Mortal Kombat 3 the best, Xbox runs Mortal Kombat 2 the best, and well the PS2 versions of the Mortal Kombat's have the most glitches and worst sound problems.
As as far as the Smoke trick, they should have assigned the pause button to the Z button the Gamecube controller, the Black or White button on the Xbox controller, and the Selectr button on the PS2 controller. Sonic Mega Collection uses he Z button to access the emulation pause menu.

There is some bad news and good news about Primal Rage in the collection:
The good news:
The XBox and Gamecube versions run the game perfectly, with red blood and all the fatalites intact
The bad news:
The PS2 version shows yellow blood always when you do a fierce attack and some of the fatalites can't be pulled off due to a glitch in that version though I think Sony may have forced Midway to censor the game because I just don't see how glitches like that could make it in the game.

It's broken. The fierce attacks result in yellow/tan blood, certain special moves are inaccessable, and fatalitys are impossible to do due to this problem.
On my PS2 version, no fatalites are avalible, I've tried quite a few.
Mine is the Xbox version. The blood is red, and if the extra fatalities are the ones like Chaos' barf eating and Vertigo's cow, then yes, I did them.
I have both the Xbox and Gamecube versions, and haven't encountered those glitches yet. I have been able to do every fatality and the blood is red.
Considering the PS2 version also the slighty more worse emulation of MK3, the PS2 version isn't recommened. Of course, controller preference can also be a factor.

I'll probably get the Xbox version after hearing all this, I was thinking the PS2 verison but it sounds a little too buggy. I could get the Gamecube one too but I don't think the controller is right for the fighters IMO. What has anybody seen or heard of the Xbox version? Are theses bugs mostly the PS2 verison? Does it really not announce Kabal in MK3?

I was really looking forward to MAT2 but deep down I knew it was to good to be true. I knew Midway would blow having arcade perfection on a disk. I'm really disapointed by all the reviews and coments I have read all over the net. There is no excuse for the glitches. How can you sell a game disk with so many noticible glitches. It's simply not acceptable.
Cool down guys. All the hidden fighters are in the game. Smoke appeared to me allready on X-Box and gave me one of his infamous clues. For Playstation 2 owners trying to fight Smoke, have you tried Down and Select? If you remember MK Trilogy to get the four classical fighters you had to use Select rather than start like in other versions of MKT. On X-Box, I haven't got Toasty yet, but I'm willing to bet it is Down and either White or Black. Random Select is in all versions of MAT2. Trust me, everything is in the game. They had to move just the Start button tricks because of the pause menu. I'll post them as soon as I find them all.

Ya we KNOW Smoke is in the game, Toasy is in the game etc.....but there is no way to FIGHT him.
If you press down+start it'll bring up a pause menu, same with select button
we're screwed
now i'm really disappointed Primal rage is gonna suck too

Nope didnt work either
I have the X-Box version, and I've tried everything to try to get Smoke. No button combinations work at all! I've tried holding Down, and pressing every button, even Start which I know wouldn't work. Nothing worked! However, Smoke did appear and give me his infamous "TOASTY!!" clue, and then he vanished. I haven't seen him in the Living Forest though. I have fought Noob, and Jade, and even played Pong, so they are all in there. I hat MKII's Pong. Going through all those battles! All we know is that Smoke is in the game, but no one has found a way to fight him yet. I guess we'll have to keep our eyes open.
