I thought it was my duty as a fan to inform you guys that there is a PS version of MK II on ebay right now... if you know your games you know this is one of the rarest MK games to get your hands on, but its there. I dont think I can post the link so Ill give ya the item number instead, 8274774785. Just do a search for that number. Be warned though, this game has a buy it now feature for $59.95 so the auction could be over anytime. Good luck.

You can post links to ebay here.
It would be cool to own, but I already have a burnt copy and it's nothing special.

Hmm, its rare, but its terrible. Hmm. I guess its for the die-hard collectors. I just hope whoever buys it knows in advance that they are getting a POS game.

Bad graphics, sound effects, the gameplay is off, and the loading is random and terrible. Its just a very poor version of MK2. Honestly I don't think they really got it past Beta.

Its not that bad as long as your not expecting arcade perfect ports. You gotta realize this game was made before consoles surpassed the arcade in capabilities.
I say the SNES is the best port version, but the PS version definately beats the Genesis in my opinion.

I never would expect arcade quality MK2 from the PSX, since even now the arcades are often more powerful counterparts to consoles. But they didn't do anywhere near as good a job as they should have. Thats what leads me to believe they just didn't finish it.
The same thing goes for Mk2 for Saturn as well. It had so many horrible problems with loading, and then they released UMK3 which did phenomenally better. MK3 for PSX is vastly superior in production quality to Mk2 for PSX.
Did MK2 PSX ever get released outside of Japan? I've only seen it listed as being a published game in Japan.

I don't think so, I've only ever heard the same.
As for not expecting the quality to be there, as dreemer said, MK3 is (supposedly - I've never played PSX MKII) far superior to MK2. But, MK2 was made in 1996, whereas MK3 came out in '95.
Therefore, I'm guessing dreemer is right in saying that they never finished it.
Actualy it all seems very odd; being made in 1996, after MK3, UMK3 and the same year as MKT, as well as being Japan only - a country where I think MK was never popular...strange.
I paid almost 200 for my brand new copy.
It really is krap. Worst part is the random loading. There is load time during fights! The first time you do a move the gameplay actually stops and loads for a second. Horrible.

Same problem for the Saturn version of MK2 which I got for 50$ when it was released a long time ago. Anyway, the loading times between fights were really good but instead you had to suffer from loading times during gameplay! The special moves weren't loaded into memory until you acctually did one during the fight... so as soon as you did a special move the game would freeze for 1-2 seconds so that both characters special moves could be loaded into memory. It was lame... I don't know who coded the game but it was screwed up. Also there were sounds missing and the game mechanics were a little fucked up. I don't know how to explain it except to say that it felt wrong. Not at all arcade quality.

That is the most inaccurate statement ever... MK2 for the ps is one of the hardest games to find and rarely comes up on ebay.
The worst part about MK2 PSX is that they screwed up the music. They mixed up the music for 4 of the backgrounds. I find it odd that almost EVERY port of MK2 (PC and PSX of MK2, I think maybe Genesis as well, and MKT also screwed up) has the wrong music in the wrong backgrounds. Did these people just not care, or have any sense of attention to detail? Other than that, I think theres a few missing sound effects (like Raiden's yell when he does his flying move), but the gameplay is on par with the PC versoin of MK2.

Looks OK but I'd rather play it on my SNES.
