no. alot of people on the boards would say no. sub-zero is good but yet most of the time mid-tier but his story is usally good but scorpions story is crap. they need to change it and get away from revenge. scorpion and sub-zero are only favorites really to the people who are not die hard mk fans. people like those two because there the face of the game.

I agree, but Sub-Zero is still my favourite character always has been from the start, I guess I love the ice attacks.

I also like the Lin Kuei (new and old) as my favourite clan.

But in general they are the least original characters.

I am a diehard fan of MK and Sub-Zero has always been my favorie character ever since i played MK1....scorpion on the other hand, well lets just say the only good thing about him is his spear attack.

im not saying die hard fans dont like them. im saying that these people are so popular with people that arent really big fans or people that think mk think about sub or scorpion think the greatest. because of these 2 mk fighters we now have a bunch of crappy nonorignal nijas. noob and ermac hold up to that orignality but rain and smoke reallly dont while reptile has broken away from being like the other nijas. yes in ways smoke is orignal but most of his moves like the spear and ivisbility are rip offs of other chracters.

It is true that there are a lot of people who don't know a lot about Mortal Kombat that will automatically think Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the best because someone they heard they were popular or something.

Scorpion's always been my favorite from the start. You know, Scorpion HAD a good story that was evolving nicely. Unfortunatly, in MK4 they decided to make him go out for revenge AGAIN. Hopefully he'll be doing something interesting again for Deception.
Sub-Zero's cool too. I always thought he was a solid charcater.

And personally, I don't care what Tier anybody is on. Technically, Nightwolf and Sonya are "Top Tier." That doesn't mean I have to like them.

not saying that a chracter has to be top tier to like. i like sub and scorpion too but there not my favorite. yes they are good and were pretty solid until what you said mk4 came out. i dont hate them like some people i know but they could be improved story wise. other wise there solid chracters

alright guys you made alot of comments and REMBER IT IS MY OPNION you guys are giving me a hard time i am 9 and don't know what tier means

tier means what level they are in the game compared to other characters.

For instance, in MK3 Sub Zero is top tier because he is one of the best characters in the game, some say the best.

As far as Scorp and Sub's popularity, I'd say they are like the Ken and Ryu of MK. People who don't know MK well or even at all will often recognize Sub Zero and Scorpion. They'll probably end up the most well known of the MK characters, like Hulk Hogan in wrestling. He isn't the best (or that good at all IMO) and his fame is dieing out hardcore but still he is probably the best known wrestler.
