I'm one of the few MK fans that totally doesn't give a damn about the story, never did.

I think the dead of Liu Kang was the best thing to happen to the story. I was very happy to see him finally die for the reasons everyone else has said. I mean, we could guess who would be the immortal champion all over in every game, when we saw Lius face on the character select screen.

To be honest, I wouldnt REALLY like THAT much if Kung Lao was the champion, I mean, I wouldnt mind, for he is way cooler then Liu and all, but he is still like, a Liu clone. He has a lot of Liu Kang in him, from his name, to his origin, he MUST have a BIG change to make him be nothing like Liu.

I also wouldnt mind seeing as champions classic characters like Cage, Rayden or even Sonya, that would be a big change. Or others whose story can evolve in a very cool way, such as Blind Kenshi.

Yes, I totally agree with you queve. Liu was the champ for too long and someone like Kung Lao should take his place.

Well, to be honest, MK3's biggest problem wasn't really it's story, but more how it was executed. A lot of plot holes were evident, and the whole idea of Queen Sindel being the key to the realms was kind of cheap. MK4 was the same situation. MK:DA was a decent story, so I should have exempted that one. But there were a lot things about the previous stories I did like. If any of you ever read MKA:SS, then you'll see what I mean.

And for the record, I'm glad Kang bit the dust. Kung Lao is a much better character. Although I prefer having one main character instead, I just didn't want it to be Lui Kang.

Well, let's hope that they continue their "new trend" in the storyline and hope it improves.

Oh wait, I see there's a bit misunderstanding in my acronym.

MKA:SS = Mortal Kombat Atrocities: Synthetic Souls

It's a common mistake, but MKA is the fanfic trilogy I'm working on. It'll be released in the fall. The first installment 'Synthetic Souls' is based off the automation of the Lin Kuei, and full experiences of Smoke and Subzero in the third tournament. Although I do agree with you about mythologies(even though the deeper insight to sub and raiden's personality was pretty nice).

i concure, he's kinda like mario in SSBM, even if no REAL story is in place, we all know he won.
nintendo has mario, rarewhere has miss dark , capcom has ryu, toho has godzilla and midway (like it or not) has liu kang, unless we speek of wargods, then it's warhead. he's the star of the show.
so what if sub-zero is more interesting? liu kang is still the spider-man (the star) of mk.
