Completely overrated, unnecessary, and unoriginal. They need to be dropped badly.

I'm fine with Sub-Zero and Reptile, since Sub-Zero has a very solid storyline, and Reptile is just awesome now. Scorpion should stay because sadly, the fanboys are in love, and the game won't sell without him. But he needs a new purpose. The revenge thing is lame.

The others must die.

I agree that people like the ninjas better than the monks. I think Kung Lao looks really cool but there is something about the ninjas that I really like!

The ninjas were cool in the first couple of mortal kombat games but in umk3 they got old.

Right....so the fatalities, digitized graphics, easy to use gameplay, and elaborate storyline didn't mean anything. It was all just the ninjas.


I've no beef with the ninjas. Some of them are my favorites and others I just like. I do think it's goofy to automatically love or hate a character just because he/she is a ninja. Or more accurately: wears a mask.
The pallette swiping was getting out of hand though, and I'm glad it's over.

The only ninja I truly hate is Chameleon. Not so much because he's a ninja...but because he's a worthless, meaningless sack of shit who should never have been brought back for Armageddon.

if there is any ninjas in the next game, only four at ABSOULUTE most! When more than 60% of the characters in the game are pallette swap ninjas, it just gets old.

Scorpion... he really needs a new purpose rather than revenge. Many hoped for MKA to finish off his lame story but unfortunately, nope.

I don't really care about the other ninjas, though Noob Saibot increased my interest for him a bit after I saw his MKD ending.

People had beef with the ninjas back then because all of them had the same look and the story of "One of Shao Kahn's generals blah blah blah..."

But now I appreciate most of them because they have gotten so unique, better than such characters as Sonya and Johnny Cage. The only characters which I see are pointless are Chameleon, Rain (sorta, although that could be fixed), and Scorpion, who has gotten completely lame.

Scorpions story changes constantly.They should just stick to one.

Most of the time when people talk about the ninjas, they only mention the male ones, neglecting the female and cyborg ones that used the same pallette swap technique.

Some of my favorites are ninjas, but I never base it on that sole reason.

Liu-Kang and Kung Lao are pretty interesting character IMO. Hopefully they keep Kung Lao but it looks like he will go. Like I said they need to get rid of every ninja except the ones from MK2!

About the female ninjas, I am fine with them and they fall under my favorites. However, there are some problems with them:

Kitana
- she always has the same fatalities (She has steel fans... can the team be more creative with her instead of giving her head decapitations?)
- Her storyline is all about saving Edenia (If she was to return, drop the storyline, it's getting dull or otherwise let her retire as Queen of Edenia)

Mileena
- If she was to return to next gen, she should drop her rivalry with Kitana and move on.

Jade
- I see tons of potential for her to return next gen and she really needs to get out of Kitana's shadows. Perhaps more of her past revealed would be nice.

The cyberninjas are all okay by me. Sektor isn't one of my top faves but he is my fave out of them. Cyrax and Smoke are okay by me.

Personally, I don't want anymore ninjas. They are really tiresome.

The whole ninja concept has in itself become moot. To me, saying "There needs to be more ninjas!" is like saying "There needs to be more characters who wear green!" What difference does it make?
A lot of the current ninjas don't even really need to wear masks anymore.

The only characters I think should stay masked are:
- Scorpion because...for one thing, technically, he's the only official ninja. But also he wears the mask to hide his cursed skull head. In a way, his mask IS his face now.
- Mileena because she wears a mask to hide her choppers. She ashamed of her face and tries to hide it.
- Noob Saibot because he should always retain a faceless wraith-like appearance. For instance, in Deception when they had him have normal colored skin, he didn't look like a wraith anymore. He looked like just some dude.
- Ermac for similar reasons as Noob. He's supposed to be an enigmatic, weird, mystical character and showing his face, IMO, takes that away from him.
- Sektor because he wants nothing to do with being human, so it'd make sense for him to constantly wear his helmet.

Those are the only characters who should stay masked, IMO. And not even really because they're ninjas....but because they're freaks.
Anyone else, I wouldn't mind if they went maskless.
