But when you did some moves, the other player would automatically throw a projectile. And with Sub-Zero's ice clone, they would throw a projectile and know not to move. But that was one of their weaknesses (Ice clone, block, run up, do combo).

I have to say that MK2 was great for multiplayer, but was almost unplayable in 1 player. So CHEAP! Not that MK3 didn't have cheap moves, but they weren't used ALL THE TIME. MK 3 did seem a little flashier, though.

MK 3 was worse with Sub-Zero's broken clone which they fixed in UMK3.It was beyond cheesy lol.
Then there's Kabal's spin move too.
I first played it in April of 95 at the arcade. I had followed the coverage of the game before release so I knew about the big surprises, the roster, Jax's metal arms, robots, and all that. I liked it. It was fast and the chain combos were a welcome edition. I did not like Stryker at first(though I do now) but I immediatly liked unmasked Sub-Zero, Cyrax and Kabal.
A few random things about the first month or so.....
EVERYONE loved Kabal. It was hard to hear in the busy arcade and everyone was calling him "Cable" for the first couple of nights. Kabal was easily the most played character, followed by Sub and then Smoke when the UKK was found.
Once Kabal's animality was common knowledge everyone was doing the glitch to crash the machine just for the fun of it.
Lots of BS rumors. You could fight Cage in the graveyard, Goro in the Pit III, nudalities, ect.
Everyone flipped out when the dragon symbol in the middle of the selection screen would turn to reveal Smoke. People would rush to move their icon over it to see if they could pick him or do random select. Lots of talk about how if you did random you could get him.
Nobody cared about Babalities or Friendships. Once everyone realized there were no MK II 2.1 style glitches nobody ever did them.
People would purposely do no uppercuts in the Subway stage so that they could do the subway stage fatal since it was so easy in revision 1(f,f,f run for everyone).
Lots of dumb story mistakes. Sheeva is Goro's sister, Jax lost a mirror match in MK II and had his arms ripped off, Kintaro ripped off his arms, Cyrax is Scorpion turned into a robot.
Good times.
